i might attack some of you in this post.
if you publicly post your food logs, thinspo, or anything like that on TIKTOK, you are disgusting. go ahead if you have a private account. but tiktok is not like tumblr when it comes to posts and algorithms. a random child will RARELY ever see our posts unless they search the tags here on tumblr. the same is not true on tiktok. i have never and never will “vent” on an app like tiktok. random videos go viral on tiktok all the time and if one of your “vents” does, that can be damaging to every innocent child on the app who witnesses YOUR eating disorder. what you post is YOUR responsibility when you know how random tiktoks algorithm is. if you’re here reading this right now you obviously know what this is and how to get here. you do not NEED to vent on tiktok to random strangers when you could instead vent to the rest of us here who actually understand your problems.

do you ever feel like you really suck at having an eating disorder like you see yourself eat normally for a couple days and you’re like “wow i really gotta do better with my ed” as if it’s a hobby you gotta put more effort into. then feel like you don’t actually have an ed because you let yourself eat normally.
what the f. this is why i am fat. i can’t do anything right. cant even starve myself correctly.

Things I wish people understood about eating disorders:
1. Most people with eating disorders don’t literally starve themselves, they restrict. Just because you see us eating doesn’t mean we’re getting better.
2. The horrible, absolutely torturous feeling we get after we eat. No matter what it is, how many Calories… it’s always there.
3. You. Don’t. Have. To. Be. Thin. To. Have. An. Eating. Disorder. God someone needs to scream this one from the top of a building.
4. It’s life consuming. Food is always on my mind.
What I’ll eat next, when I’ll eat next, how I’ll burn it off
5. I can’t just ‘snap out of it’ and I can’t ‘just eat’
These are two of the worst things you can say.
6. I understand what my disorder is doing to me mentally and physically, believe me I do.

I don’t think enough people talk about the social hierarchy of eating disorders.
So, this is simply a reminder that Bulimia is NOT “failed anorexia.” Binge-Eating Disorder is NOT laziness and lack of self control. EDNOS is NOT any less valid that anorexia. And, Anorexia is NOT cute or desirable.
These are all horrible and deadly disorders, and there is no way to “fail” at having a mental illness. We are all suffering is different ways and that is always valid and deserving of help.
