i’m going to commit the cardinal sin of telling it as it is TM (a rant)

maybe you’re just not that good.

if you’re never prioritized in your writing group. if you “play the same characters” but you “never get interactions and they do”. if “they reply once a month” and you “reply fast” and yet “everyone wants to write with them but not me” maybe you’re just a worse writer yaknow? the last person picked in gym class, there’s a reason they’re not picked first. sure some people will pick their friends first but after picking their friends they’ll pick the most talented players. you would do the same in their shoes, no? does that mean you should give up? absolutely not. a little self awareness couldn’t hurt tho.

being able to string words together is the bare effing basics of writing. just like being able to throw a ball is the basics of dodgeball. doesn’t mean you’re going to be good at dodgeball if you know how to throw a ball. literally anyone can throw a ball. in writing, especially rping, there’s technique, whether or not your characters / plots are interesting, whether you play off the other persons characters well, whether you read and truly take the time to understand the other persons writing / reply, being able to mutually forward the plot in a steady and satisfying way, among so many other things. if you’re not getting interactions, i would look inward a little bit before blaming all of it on others. because i have yet to see a good writer / rper starve for interactions. it is not other peoples responsibility to sacrifice their time and energy to accommodate you’re lack of talent (for lack of a better word) just like someone who isn’t good at their job is a burden to their co-workers or a teammate who’s bad at the game is a burden to their team. a bad rper is a burden to the other person who inevitably has to carry the whole interaction. that’s probably why they “haven’t replied in months” they agreed to write with you, likely because they felt bad rejecting you. or they got bored / overwhelmed with the thread because you weren’t carrying your fair share of the interaction. we need to start telling each other the ugly truths instead of coddling anyone who says they’re sad about not getting interactions. coddling literally helps no one and is a band-aid solution at best. makes the person feel good in the moment but ultimately doesn’t fix the underlying issue. just like anything else in life you can work on it, just because you might be bad now doesn’t mean you can’t be good in the future. but blaming it all on just “people are mean to me in particular for no reason :(” isn’t helping anyone; least of all you. at best you’re just guilt tripping people into interacting with you for a few replies before they inevitably also get overwhelmed. if you want my advice, the first step is recognizing the problem and stop shifting the blame onto others. then look at what you might be doing wrong or what you could do better. also, seek out constructive criticism. ask for it and, most importantly, react gracefully to it even if you don’t agree (unless its mean-spirited). most people don’t give it out unsolicited no matter how “communicative” they are because a lot of people are easily offended. and an unfortunate amount of people are comfortable doing some wild shit on this website out of spite for getting offended. but criticism is an opportunity for growth and not a personal attack on who you are. so, keep that in mind, seek it out point blank, work on it and bloom into the lovely rptastic flower i know you can be.

Think I’m a little overdue for this, but here we go. 

Hi! I’m Rae, Yuukina’s mun. I never really gave her character much thought recently, so I decided to mash a couple of concepts together, plus her original “teleported to another world” concept. 

So....I guess now is the time where I should actually tell what Yuukina is now, due to the updates. 

Yuukina Haneyama came from a time where dragons were naught but tales told by parents of creatures who safeguarded their land in times of old. She practiced the art of the naginata, before gripped by a paralyzing sickness in her early 30s. When she had finally succumbed to her disease and passed on, the deity of her world offered her a second chance at life. To become something new, something more. 

It had been the creature from the stories of her childhood. Dragons HAD existed. The creature revealed two artifacts. A crimson spear, and it’s left eye. When Yuukina took hold of the spear, the eyes replaced her own- and caused a mutation in her body, which cured her sickness- as she now carried the blood of dragons within her. She had sprouted a small forked tail (which would grow longer and thicker later on), and her eyes were dragon-like, and crimson in color. The eye would pulse and she could hear the dragon’s thoughts as if they were her own. She was then cast from the heavens; falling to the dizzying, futuristic world below, where she had definitely been out of place. 

Upon establishing a foothold for herself, making allies & friends, and climbing the ranks of the GDI whilst hiding her....newfound draconic appendages- Yuukina became a not just Vice Admiral, a position earned by her skill with her lance, and her judgement of people, and bestowed upon her by her superiors. She’d become a deity- her people’s “Divine Dragon”, only celebrated every thousand years. 

Now an immortal, and a newly crowned deity- she lives a life she would have only dreamed of in the past, surfing amongst the stars, in a new world she has now only just dipped her toes into.

In that moment, the crew at the bridge seemed to all have the same reaction. Their stoic vice admiral, the Lance Faerie of the battlefield...smiled. Yuukina smiled softly, a reaction that she always used around him during her earlier days in the GDI. She withheld a small chuckle, returning her gaze to that of the holoprojection. 

“That’s just like you. Still breaking protocols, I see.” Yuukina replied, standing and giving a curtsy; a lighthearted gesture that threw all of her vessel’s crew for a loop.

Many days after the battle between Majora’s forces and the BEA-GDI alliance, Wolf was currently aboard his flagship, the massive Wolfsclaw-class superdreadnaught Yumi (also his daughter). Sitting in his seat in the bridge, he drank his tea. At that moment, a BEA officer approached him. 

“My lord… GDI ship with unknown sigil approaching.” The officer said, “Shall send a code saying we’re friendly?” 

“Do so, please.” Wolf said, “And what’s the symbol?” 

The officer brought up a holoprojector, and showed him. It was a dragon with very elegant dragon wings, holding a spear. Wolf’s eyes widened.

“That… that…” Wolf gaped, “Set up a holotransmission, with a priority contact number.”

Simply moving about the void of space left the vice admiral uneasy; days had gone by after that engagement between Majora’s forces, and the BEA-GDI alliance. That day and this one felt like lightyears apart to the lancer- very much an overestimation of her boredom. Regardless, the sound of her heels clacking against the steel of the flooring in her vessel reverbated as the officer standing guard at the bridge stiffened at the sight of the vice admiral and her attendant. 

“V-V-Vice Admiral Aoi! Greetings!” The man seemed to stutter. A tinge of fear could be felt in his words- something Yuukina seemed to spark in most due to her seemingly stiff exterior. 

“Greetings, officer. Anything to report?” Yuukina seemed to reply, void of any emotion. The officer seemed to relax, taking the edge out of his voice. 

“Yes, ma’am. We’re passing by a Wolfsclaw-class BEA vessel, and it seems to be a holotransmission. It’s a prioity contact number.” He swiftly replied, the vice admiral’s eyes widening slightly. 

“...Patch them through. I have a feeling as to who this may be.” The vice admiral seemed to quickly reply, walking confidently to the bridge and taking her seat. She wasn’t sure if it had been him or not- but maybe it had. The only choice she had was to take it, and react accordingly.

Keep things civil, try not to go out of your way to start with me or any mutuals I may have. 

If you don’t agree with my characters or any plots that I have, let me know and we can work it out. If you’re being a dick about it though, you might as well drop it.

I dont tolerate any kind of godmodding, forcing of actions, or anything I haven’t stated and said I’m not okay with. There are things people dont like writing. Don’t force them into doing it. 

I am human. I need sleep, food, water and I get bored like any other. Dont bombard my dms with constant badgering over my responses. If I dont get to our thread- please dont give me shit over it. I’ll close it right then if you choose to get on my nerves about my lack of sleep. 

My style of writing is detailed, so if you dont want that- door’s right behind you. 

Due to how my other main blog @praevarumlucem being how it is- I’m semi-selective of my partners. I’ve had multiple other blogs before this. (If you’re into RWBY, go give that blog a follow.)

Try not to be a dick in general. Dont spread hate. Im sure this is self-explanatory, but I’d rather have this rule than get a bunch of hate mail. 

Mun is 18+. I’m sure you can understand what that means. That also means if you’re into Yuukina and your character being lewd in some fashion- run it by me first and dont go out of your way to initiate it. Even if you’ve planned it. Make sure it’s consented to by me and yourself- and I’m not into that “forced play” for my characters. Consent is a beautiful thing. 

Respect me and my characters, I’ll respect you and yours.
