Being close to her sister growing up, they did everything together and really just wanted to do something that they both could enjoy. Music was that for them and that meant they just learned everything on their own because their parents, they weren't too happy about the fact they were wanting to do that. They didn't think it was an actual job or career and that meant Ayla and Elara were silenced when it came to expressing themselves when it came to music and pouring their emotions into that.
But that didn't mean they stopped. They wanted this as they made a good team and understood what the other was trying to say without saying anything. But eventually Ayla listened because it was defeating with the fact their parents weren't even remotely pretending to be happy they were making songs and really finding their voices when it came to being able to perform. But Ayla also knew her sister had the drive and wasn't one to bend for anyone. she wanted to do what was best and that meant she kept doing what she did and made music. Ayla didn't meant to turn her back on her sister of sorts, but it was just a lot and between her parents and life, she just couldn't do it anymore.
That meant contact with her sister was cut off because Elara didn't listen. Ayla missed her sister and she couldn't bring that up to her parents because it led to a fight and Ayla was working on her career and getting higher up in medicine. She worked at a doctors office for now but wanted to be in the hospital and working with patients a lot more worst off then she has seen. But one day, Ayla got a call, one she has been waiting for, for years. It was her sister. She had always wondered what happened to her. She explained everything and Ayla knew her sisters talent and knew that she could make it, but she never heard her name on the radio.
Elara explained everything and Ayla didn't fully grasp what had happened. She wasn't there so she didn't understand, but she supported her sister. After that call, and them getting to talk more, they have fell into a routine. One that Ayla had missed because it took her back to them being kids. To them really learning about one another and really enjoying the small things in life. They met for breakfast every morning, and Ayla was already attached to Bixby. So, this was all and all something she had missed and was glad her sister was back in her life. They have so much to catch up on, but not all at once as it is a lot of things and she didn't want to overwhelm her sister.
But what had caught Ayla's attention was her sister not really touching her guitar. It looks like it hasn't been touched for a while, and that was not like Elara. She loved her music and her guitar even more, and that meant she just ask and see what she gets from her. Making a face, and her eyebrows scrunch together in confusion. "What do you mean you don't play it anymore? That is the one thing you always did regardless. It looks like it hasn't been touched in forever and you, you are too talented to let it sit there and you don't touch it." Seeing her sister tense, she knew something happened but she wasn't going to push, just she didn't know why she didn't play. "I stopped singing so you could focus on it and mom and dad get off of one of us. You are more talented and the fact you are selling something that is yours and you are phenomenal at playing, that is just unheard of. Why don't you anymore?"
Maybe this was too much of a question, but she needed to know why Elara was giving up her dream and the one thing she took when she left that one day from home to never look back until recently. She didn't want secrets between them and she didn't want her sister to think she was against her, it was the opposite and she knew her sisters talent and wanted her to try to be that person more then giving up the dream of being the star she was meant to be.
Please, Talk to me. We used to talk about everything.
Ayla was super close to her sister @fearfulartistry growing up. They had done everything together, so much so they dabbled into music together. They were just playing around at one point when they were young, when all of a sudden it was something they both loved to do and started to practice more. They both were guitar savvy and Ayla was playing more instruments has they both sang. But the one thing that kept her from really doing more after a point was that their parents didn’t really approve of the choices they were making. Music wasn’t a respectable career choice according to both parents, but when the were teens they decided to try it anyways and see just where they could go with all of that. They were in the same high school at the time when their music teacher helped them record a few songs.
Some were originals and some were covers and they sounded good. Ayla was proud that her sister and her did all of that without the help of their parents. Though it would have been nicer if their parents were involved but who was Ayla to argue when she had her sister and they could do this on their own. But as they were approached to record songs in a professional setting, that is when their father deleted their YouTube channel, with all their covers and original songs they have recorded and all hope was lost at that point. Ayla realized they weren’t getting anywhere with their father having to approve everything being they were minors. It was heartbreaking but that is when Ayla decide to put the instrument down and start working on her future, one that will make her parents proud of her.
When her parents cut off Elara, she had lost contact with her sister. Not by choice but her parents really was strict on whether or not she talked to her sister. That is when she got into the medical field, finished school and was now working in a hospital. It wasn’t what she loved to do, but she did enjoy it. Saving people and her parents were satisfied and that alone she guessed was enough to really just live life comfortably and making sure everyone around her was happy with her choices. Maybe she should have been more like her sister and not cared what her parents thought, but she just couldn’t. She wanted everything to be okay for the most part. That was her downfall and never being able to say no to her parents.
As time went on and she was at work one day, and being the adult she was, she had a call from her sister, and she picked it up. She was just so glad to hear her voice but then she felt upset at everything that had happened to her. She told her everything and why didn’t she know? What wasn’t she there for Elara. So she had to really just make it up to her. She was glad they were back in contact and they were able to be together. But one thing she loved about having her sister back in town was that she now had a dog. A dog that she has become super obsessed with and wanted to spend every moment with Bixby and Elara not wanting to let her out of her sight anymore. So their normal days would be spending time at Elara’s apartment and just playing with Bixby and catching up on everything that was missed with the two of them when they aren’t together.
They would go on walks with Bixby together and they had breakfast, and Ayla was sitting at the kitchen table playing with Elara’s dog as she heard her sister humming to the radio. Something she hasn’t heard in so long. Something she didn’t think she would hear again. But she also notices her guitar collecting dust and that wasn’t like her sister. She was the one who played more then Ayla did and maybe she needed to do that again. Have an outlet for everything that had happened. Maybe put all that hurt into a one last song before she decides that was enough for her. Finally finding the words she just finally asks the question she has been wanting to ask.
“Why don’t you play your guitar anymore. I know how much you loved it and now you’re sitting here not releasing everything you are feeling and I think you need to.” Her voice has always been amazing and even Ayla was in awe with her sister when she sang and she hasn’t heard it in so long. Maybe now she was will finally pick up the one thing that has kept here sane. “You haven’t played it in how long now? I know you miss it because I miss it. So talk to me. Please.” That is all she wanted. She wanted her sister to talk to her. She wasn’t letting her getting away now. Not this time. Not ever again. If she had to make her talk, she was going to because she was sick of her running from her. She was sick of her not wanting to tell her everything that was going on because she feels she can help her. So today was the day. She was making her talk.

Ayla Lucas and he sister Elara were close growing up. They had parents who wanted the best for them but they didn’t accept the fact they were wanting to go into music. They didn’t think it was the best thing as it wasn’t guaranteed. That is when things changed. They tried so much to hide it and just allow themselves to make music together and that is when they posted things on the Internet and they were getting recognized. But once their parents found out, that was it. Ayla went about everything and went into the medical field and then her sister, well all of that changed. She went ahead and did what she wanted to do and be a musician as she thought it was the best path for her. But Ayla and her, they lost contact.
With how close they were, Ayla was missing her and just went about her life. She made her parents proud because she was working as a nurse and she was helping others who needed her. She had seen a lot of things and she has seen and it made her realize that anything can happen and she never took anything for granted. But then that is when Elara came back into town and she was not the person she knew. She was not her older sister who would joke and laugh and let things run off of her shoulders.
Instead, Elara was super closed off from her, and closed off from the world. It took Ayla so long to really get to her to talk to her. It took so long because that is when Ayla knew something happened when she went to LA. But she couldn’t put her finger on it because her sister was a volt and wouldn’t say anything. That was until one day she finally came clean. Ayla felt the pain her sister went through and she wished she could have been there to help her and help her understand why these things happened and that it wasn’t her fault. But the victims always blame themselves, and that is what her older sister was doing. Ayla needed air, and she needed to take a moment that day when she found out. That is when she was outside and someone snapped a photo of her.
That is when she yelled at him and Asher introduced himself and why he was taking photos of her. She wasn’t in the mood for someone who thought her sadness was something to capture. So she yelled at him and once he told her what he was doing, she wanted to see more of his work. Once he showed her, she calmed down and she explained why she was sad. Her older sister was struggling with somethings and she didn’t know what she could do to help her because she didn’t want to talk to anyone. But Asher made her feel better and they explored the streets of Seattle that day and talked more and got to know one another and then went back to his place.
She fell asleep at his place and slept until the next day. She had to go to work and a few days alter, she seen the photos he posted and she loved them. They were brilliant and she called him and to congratulate him and wanted to take him out to celebrate. He deserved that and that is what she did. Dinner went off well and from that night on, they were dating and they became close quick and she was happy. She had someone who really just took care of her and her him and it was a good relationship if she was being honest. But seeing him become successful after everything he told her why he does what he does, she couldn’t be more proud.
Asher gives her a call a coupe weeks later and she doesn’t waste time picking up when it’s him and she smiles as soon as she hears his voice. She was going over there for dinner. She never declined dinner with him because she loved when they were together. “I know and that sounds good, just have to be up early for work, but if you don’t mind, I will definitely stay.” She smiled knowing she didn’t want to leave once she was there and hearing she didn’t have to bring anything, and Ayla nodded her head as if he can see her.
“I will be there soon. Just going home to grab clothes because you know I am always going to stay the night when I can. So see you soon. I love you.” Hanging the phone up and she heads home to get her clothes for tomorrow for work and her night clothes to stay there and she was looking forward to tonight. This was a treat and she didn’t know what she did to deserve this but she was looking forward to seeing him and spending the night with him.
𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒅𝒚 ; there is beauty.
If anyone knew about tragedy, it was Asher James Carter. His family had been through so much in such a short period of time that it meant that Asher had been exposed to things that no child should have to see. Before he was born though, Julia and Andrew had to suffer through a miscarriage. When they got pregnant with Asher, they made sure they did whatever they could to keep him safe. He was born happy and healthy and that’s how they lived for ten years.
Asher was a happy boy, with a heart of gold. He loved to help out wherever he could and tried his best to be good. He hated making mistakes and getting into trouble. He just wanted to make his parents’ lives easy. He knew about the miscarriage as his mother had told him. He had found photos of a sonogram with a date carved into the frame.
It wasn’t his birthday, so he asked his mother about it. Julia told him about the miscarriage and he understood why his parents were so protective of him. He reassured her that nothing was going to happen to him because he was with the two people who loved him the most, but a few days after his tenth birthday, that promise was unintentionally broken.
Julia found out that she was pregnant. She wasn’t trying to get pregnant, but it just happened. She was amazed and so happy with her little miracle. She rushed to tell Andrew that she was three months pregnant and to celebrate, the family of three decided to go out for a meal.
As always, Asher brought his camera along. He snapped photos and documented the whole evening. He had found a love for photography from his mother and took his camera everywhere he went. He snapped photos of his parents at the restaurant and of the plants and scenery. He snapped shots of the outdoor world through the restaurant window and even of the waiters and waitresses who served their tables. They had a great night out and on the way back home, Asher was flicking through his photos on his camera when a light so bright drew his attention instead.
Looking up from his camera, Asher snapped a few shots of the light coming towards them and as he was looking at them, he realised that it was a van coming down the road the wrong way. Andrew swerved the car, trying to avoid it, but it was too late. The van collided with the passenger side of the car and killed his mother and her unborn child on impact. Asher was awake through the whole thing but he was trapped by his seatbelt. Asher did the only thing he could think to do and moved his arms as far forwards as he could to snap shots of his mother and father. He just wanted to see the damage and once he realised the extent of it all, he cried out for help.
The emergency services worked to cut them all out of the car but the only people who came out of the car were Asher and Andrew. Asher ran back to see where his mother was but was pulled back by a paramedic who apologised. Asher knew what that meant. His mother was gone. After this, he watched his father go through recovery and physiotherapy for his broken leg. He realised his father was slipping into depression and although he tried to help several times, his father was still hurting.
Asher used photography to heal and to help him through his grief. He took photos of his father going through physiotherapy and the funeral of Julia and then of his father experiencing deep depression. His work impressed his teachers and with top grades in his photography class, Asher took himself off to college where he impressed his professors there too. He turned something sad into something beautiful and it was that work that had gotten him a future in photography.
After college, his father had given Julia’s studio to Asher as a sign of his admiration for his son. Asher rebranded it to AJC Photography and soon had a steady client base. He offered headshots, as well as photoshoots but the work he loved doing the most was the one thing that had pulled him through his own grief. He loved taking something sad and turning into something beautiful. He would seek out dead flowers or injured animals and take heart breaking photos, then turn them into this stunning piece of art. This was what made him happy, to see the beauty in the smallest and saddest of things.
He would often roam the streets of Seattle and take photos of people. One day, he had found @abubblypersona crying on the wall, her cardigan wrapped tightly around her. He snapped a few photos but Ayla caught him. She snapped and asked why he was taking photos of her. When he explained why, she asked to see the photos and the two got to talking. Ayla explained why she was sad and Asher offered to take her mind off things. She agreed and the two explored the streets of Seattle, taking photos until the sunset.
When they got back to his place, Ayla had fallen asleep on Asher and he edited the photos he had taken that night. He uploaded them to social media and his website and over night, they took off. People were contacting him from all over, asking him to work events and host his art at galleries and museums. Ayla saw the work a few days later and called to congratulate him. She asked to take him to dinner as a sign of her appreciation for his work and from then on, the two started dating. Ayla and Asher grew close quickly. She was the first woman he loved and he was happy that he had made a difference in her life and that she had helped him to heal after all these years.
Asher’s photography had really taken off now and he had job opportunities coming from all over. He had spent so many years capturing sad memories that he was ready to take photos of something a little light hearted and fun. He flicked through his emails and found that a festival called ‘MEGAFEST’ had reached out to him. They wanted him to work an event for them which was a festival/carnival that ran for a whole week. The day time was mostly for kids but the night was full of music, drinking and good times. It had been so long since Asher had really let go and enjoyed himself that he agreed to work the event.
A week later, Asher arranges a date night with Ayla. He wants to tell her about the event that is starting in two days and so he gives her a call. He knew that Ayla was off work today so after he had finished his shoots for the day and dinner time was creeping in closer, he dialled Ayla’s number.
On the phone to his girlfriend, he asked if she wanted to come over for dinner. He had news and he wanted to share it in person. She agreed and he couldn’t be happier. “I need to make a quick stop to get some more wine, but then we’re all good. You can just stay at mine tonight, babe. I don’t care if you’re sober or drunk. You know you’re welcome to stay any time you want.” Asher slung his bag over his shoulder, followed by his camera bag and then headed out of his studio, locking up for the night once all the lights were off. He walked towards his car.
“You don’t need to bring any food or wine because I have that covered but you might want a change of clothes for tomorrow if you plan on staying with me. But, I’m going to go so I can drive to the supermarket quickly. See you at mine soon, yeah? I love you.” He said into the phone that was now pressed between his shoulder and ear as he unlocked the car and placed his equipment in the passenger seat before climbing into the driver’s side himself. He couldn’t wait for tonight.
