Job hunting and all that since I’m an adult and not in school anymore and out of. So many I applied to, the only call back is the most corpo job I’ve ever seen. The description is literally “Office work. Data entry; reconciliation, and organizing files.

Silence stretched through the office.

Veloca glared at the hare sitting before her.

They smiled back and tilted their head. "I'm your friend here, Miss Veloca. I am not here to attack you." They leaned forward and clasped their hands together.

It felt fake. Sickening.

She looked away.

"I've been having..nightmares."

Heaving, she slipped and hit the ground. Veloca scrambled to her feet, ears flattened at the sound of thundering feet behind her.

Run.

She did not want to know what would happen if those things caught her.

Veloca just knew it would hurt.

"Nightmares you say?" The voice jolted Veloca from her daze.

She drew her knees up to her chest and nodded. "Nightmares yes- they feel real. Too real."

Veloca reached a claw down and rubbed the mark on her shin. "I almost think they are. I was- hurt in it last night. I woke up with this mark on my legs."

The hare's ears twitched. "Interesting. Feel real, how?"

She exhaled slowly. The office felt cold. Too cold.

"As if I'd actually been running."

Her claws ripped into the fabric of the chair below.

"Running."

Her chest heaved.

"Hiding."

Her tail curled and lashed anxiously.

"Praying."

"I did not know what would happen if I was caught." Veloca twisted her fingers, "but I knew it would not be pleasant."

If I get this job, the first paycheck will go to buying a JcJenson branded pen and J plush. They will live on my desk
