Reflection from the Lecture Series entitled: Revenue Model for Social and Non-social Enterprises

The revenue model is a financial outline on how businesses earns money and keep it running.Non-social companies focus on profit through the sale of goods or services, while social entrepreneurs use profits to address environmental or societal issues. Their revenue model differs, with non-social companies aiming to expand and reward shareholders, and social entrepreneurs using profits to promote their mission through grants, contributions, or product sales.
Why is revenue model is important to social and non - social enterprises?
Because a revenue model is essential for both social and non-social businesses to generate income and achieve objectives. Non-social businesses aim to increase profits to expand and please shareholders, while social entrepreneurs aim to maintain financial viability while using profits for environmental conservation or community improvement. A defined revenue model ensures a company can pay expenses, adapt to changes, and prosper over the long term. A strong revenue model maintains smooth operations and aligns with company goals.

Business Model Canvas

The Business Model Canvas, commonly referred to as BMC, is an extremely useful tool that helps event organizers plan and visualize events with more strategy. It divides key phases into a framework, which enables organizers to define and detail each part of their model in such a way that no significant aspect of the event would be left unconsidered in the management process.
First, key partners in the form of students, students leader, institution and instructor can be helpful for an event in terms of financing, resources, or even publicity. The association with such partners also gives the event a more authentic appeal and is thus more attractive to students. Key Activities include planning the event, marketing and user acquisition, app development and maintenance, partnership development and support and engagement. Such successful organizing is built upon proper execution in these areas. This ensures that events operate efficiently and are fun to be part of.
Next, key resources such as partnership with school and universities, and partnership with google are key factors in the running of events. With limited resources, creativity must be applied to the sourcing and allocation of the available ones to achieve maximum effects from the events. Value Proposition is all about helping students,student leader, and educational institutions who want to manage their time efficiently and organize both their academic and extracurricular by reducing the burden of having a manual planning and conflict of schedules and by enabling an organize and hassle-free schedules unlike traditional planning that are time-consuming, chaotic and lack of features.
Then, customer relationships are crucial, as if the students trust and feel excited about the events, they will be more actively involved and participate more frequently. Channels, and social media also help to communicate with students and update them effectively. The Customer Segments need to be taken care of by the event organizers also; targeting various interests would ensure that events appeal to groups within the student community.
Finally, the BMC framework emphasizes awareness of the Cost Structure and Revenue Streams. The app development abd maintenance , marketing and advertising , legal and compliance costs , freemium model, institutional fee and advertising will ensure financial sustainability. By using the BMC to clarify objectives and align resources, student activity organizers can run events that are both impactful and well-organized, enriching campus life for all involved.

The Value Proposition Canvas:
Customer Profile:
Nicole, Civil Engineering Student (4th Year)
Customer Job(s):
The first thing that Nicole does whenever she has something to do is take down notes on all the things that she needs to be done that day. Together with these notes, she includes the deadlines so that she'll be able to know which of the activities she had listed must be accomplished first.
Pain(s):
When Nicole is unable to take down notes on the task, she will forget the activities that she needs to do. Besides, she will do tasks that do not supposedly come first.
Gain(s):
As for her, with the help of the activity organizer, she will be able to list the tasks that she needs to be done. She will also finish tasks that have deadlines at a specific time, and other tasks will follow.
Insight(s):
As students, we are sometimes bombarded with activities with strict deadlines. Besides, there are activities where deadlines are in a row and the time gap between those activities is little, so we rush or cram on making those activities. So, with the help of these activity organizers with great features, we students are able to list down the activities with set deadlines. Furthermore, we will have a smooth process for making our task. We will be able to finish the task on time, and we can't neglect the first task that needs to be done first. It will help students who are struggling with balancing their time, especially when you are a student with busy schedules.

Question:
1. What happened to your day, yesterday?
2. What are the good ones? And a bad one?
This is the question I ask the person whom I interviewed. She is a 3rd year student, taking up a BS in Civil Engineering Program. She says that her day yesterday was having good and bad things that have happened. She just highlights one good thing and one bad thing. It is that she was happy because someone gave her money and she was sad because she had a quiz and rushed to study. As she had this sad thing, will suggest three (3) solutions that might help her.
First, the simple solution is to introduce software that could help her study and not rush her study. It is an activity organizer with unique content having all the important matters she may need. For example, if she has an upcoming quiz, submission of activities and assignments, etc. she just has to set a reminder and organize all the things she has to complete. It will help her organize her schedules and other errands so she ais able to complete her tasks.
Next, is the 50-50 solution, which is the glasses that can show all the lessons she studied, where the only thing she needs to do is wear them during quizzes or exams and there she can see all the answers she needs. She doesn't have to study well because that glasses will tell her everything you need.
Last, is the out-of-this-world solution, a customized ball point pen that has a mechanical operator where this pen will move on its own. She just needs to place the ballpoint pen on a paper and it will move and write the answer all by itself.
In conclusion, we can make a solution that can solve a problem. Some ideas, may not be real but if they can be real they be more effective they will make students to be more lazy. The world isn'doesn't have powerful hands that could make a prototype or make a product of things that are out of control. They are just can be made by our illusions but not in reality. We need to be more persevere for us to achieve the things that we want.
