identity
Working myself to being tired and exhausted, and be proud of that is a part of my identity.
I hope I could always be handed over challenging tasks that would require me forgo a lot of “life” and free time, while also giving devotion and sacrifice that others would be proud of my responsible qualities.

peace after the storm
After accomplishing one of my goals about undergraduate college which lasted for the past 4 years of my life, i am here now, at a private university that’s ranked top 30. it is renowned for its international reputation, for students’ high social status, and for its influential alumni.
So I thought, now what?
originally, i believed that after getting into a better institution, i wouldn’t be facing as much as pressure for getting into a better grad school or getting employed. i could then study whatever i want.
actually, this semester i do believe i have the best schedule i hope for. i am going to a small history lecture (<40 ppl) and a 12 ppl elementary Japanese class. for the other 2 courses, i felt like i still had to keep myself this edge (tho, it’s just a safely edge instead of an outstanding edge) of having an econ degree. for econ opens the door to too many master programs to think of. it doesn’t acquire that much math, or comp sci, while convincing outsiders of you quantitative backgrounds.
but much more than studying flawed models and vague theories (its exaggerating, its just that econ profs care less about teaching (more about researching), and econ students care less about studying (more about networking and interning) in a college context, constructing an unhealthy academic atmosphere for the whole econ discipline in undergrad. not saying that you cant study hard for econ! you will stand out so much to do so)
what do i really want to do?
i wish to gain a rounded view of the world, be less ignorant, more informed through my college education.
how about double majoring history and econ? i ask.
i want to leave time to draw.
you can! you know you waste too much time watching youtube or complaining online. you definitely do them for at least two hours a day. its sufficient to draw for 30-40 mins everyday! plus, the industry seeks for great ability to create art, not just (if at all) an art degree.
i could do dual master degree with MFA?! i could try to make it into a film/ animation studio in the US and see for myself if i could work there. now im in new york, jobs are literally everywhere. even the creative and artsy jobs are the easiest to find here! right?
so why hesitate?
sharpen your skill, get your education to do whatever important to your personal values and life-long worldview (aka. hist + econ, collect a portfolio in my spare time or go to art class for one semester here, to kick me back into the swing!)
life is beautiful and bright! just seize your day coz you’ve got you dreams, chasing your butt.

Frozen II
vI was expecting some kind of dissapointments as a original work’s fan (from the age of 13) as everyone was having criticism on it. Its also common sense that sequels can never beat the first work.
But it was only when i went to see it myself that i felt that kind of disappointments. Honestly, I was talking to two close friends of mine and both of them disliked it a lot. I have to say I do as well.
基本上,我想说我reject everything that is being established in the movie. I think, whoever wrote the orignial story, wouldnt want to develop the story in this way, or something horrible / life-changing has occured on the story writers. Maybe it was tied to Disney’s strategies and business goals - during the movie, i thought of this too, working in a huge conglomerate like this must be not hearing the individual artists’ voices.
It is basically Disney saying “whatever shit I put out there, people will buy it”. Moral of the story basically is like tribal people being betrayed by the more cultured colonists, and that the nature is angered. And why do people then need a dam??? To generate electricity? They have a power plant?

Aladdin
I was so sad that I went to see this movie with Chinese dubbing coz they even redid the songs with much worse quality ;( guess i’ll never choose to see a chi ver. of an exotic film anymore...
The visuals were just so good. The colors were outstanding. I was so impressed by the jewelries and costumes. I guessed they were special effects and it turned out it was. But still, I couldn’t tell and everyone’s clothing was just stunning.
Speaking of the story, this is actually my first time to thoroughly get to know the plot (coz i dont have a childhood, jk jk). The themes were romance, classes/ backgrounds and feminism (Speechless was an empowering song; no matter why the movie needed it, this song will impact/ make progress on women empowering). I guess Disney is trying to engrave these new values into themselves since Frozen, Zootopia and this one. [lets not dig in too deep about that coz its very controversial]
no matter what, disney films are always a light to my heart, it always makes me happy and makes life a bit more fun.
