the NieR:Automata Character Trailer has been released at TGS! New music is also featured, and in our opinion is really setting a standard.
NieR:Automata will release in Japan on February 23, 2017. It will release internationally in early 2017, but it is not confirmed if that is alongside the Japanese release.

Famitsu Magazine, Issue No. 1429
Here are my scans of today’s issue (May 5) of Famitsu magazine, which features 8 pages on NieR:Automata.
There’s not much new material printed here that hasn’t already been covered since the concert, but here are a few interesting bits:
When you look through the goggles, Yoko wants the screen to look more like an old game on the Famicom/Super Nintendo, but it hasn’t been approved yet.
It was difficult for Yoshida to design the characters since their eyes needed to be hidden by their goggles.
A2 and 2B share the same design, which is why they both have a mole in the same place. Simply, A2’s design looks more like an actual android (less human looking).
It’s still a secret whether or not A2 will be a playable character or not.
Yoko says that there will be vocals in all music tracks.
Yoko apologizes for the difficulty getting tickets. He didn’t expect so many people were interested. He says that should they have another concert, they might be able to aim for 2,000 people. If there is a concert and 2,000 show up, he wants Taura to take off his shirt and let them oil him down on stage. ^^;;

The Shi ni Itaru Aka manga has officially been licensed for release in France!
It will be marketed under the title Drakengard -Destinées Écarlates-, roughly translated as Drakengard: Scarlet Destiny. [x]
We’ve not heard word about a North American or otherwise english-language release, but that the series’ supplemental materials are officially seeing release outside of Japan is a good sign, if nothing else.

NieR: Automata available for pre-order!
Square Enix has made NieR:Automata ( yes, the english version! ) available for pre-order from their online store for $59.99
No announcement about a release date has been made yet, and so the game is still slated for TBA 2016. If you are located outside of the United States, remember to change your location via the flag in the top corner!
At current there is no word regarding a Collector’s Edition, but we’re not thinking to rule the possibility out just yet. Stay tuned!

Oh hey, it’s NieR Automata, the sequel to the amazing NieR. Oh hey, it looks goddamn incredible.
NieR Automata takes place on an Earth that’s been ravaged by war and all sorts of not great stuff. It depicts a war between the humans’ android/robot attack unit, Yorha, and some strange mechanical lifeforms. The main character is named Yorha No.2 Type B, and wields a katana and great sword.
Androids in the Yorha squad don’t actually have names, and so they’re referred to by their number. Because she wears special battle goggles, her eyes are rarely ever visible. It’s against the rules for them to have emotions, but each model does have its own individual ticks and traits. For example, 2B is much more calm than her counterparts.
There’s also a new support system called Pod, which seems to work a whole lot like your book buddy did in the first game.
The screenshots also show off strange robot enemies, which the magazine notes are very NieR-like in that something about them is oddly cute. There are many different variants of these machines, some of them with longer limbs than others, some that can fly, some that can merge with others, etc.
Guys, I’m so excited for NieR Automata. Fuck.

The latest issues of Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation have first details and screenshots on NieR: Automata, Square Enix’s upcoming sequel to NieR from Platinum Games.
While more information is due out tomorrow via Square Enix’s Paris Games Week presentation of the game at 11:00 a.m. France time (3:00 a.m. PT / 6:00 a.m. ET), get what we know from the magazines below.
Story
The distant future.
Aliens suddenly invaded. And they dispatched weapons known as “Machine Life-Forms.” Before their overwhelming power, humanity fled to the moon.
In order to recapture Earth, mankind organized a resistance of combat-type android soldiers. Then to break the deadlock, mankind introduced the “Yorha” unit, new types of advanced android soldiers.
In the barren stretches of a land where humans do not exist, the Machine Life-Forms and Androids battle. This war is the key that opens the door to an unknown truth…
Yorha 2B
A combat android dispatched as a member of the infantry. Although she has the appearance of a woman, her actual gender is unknown. She mainly uses short-range sword attacks, with long-range “pod” attacks for support. Because she always wears goggles, little of her face is shown. What really lies beneath them?
Androids
Combat androids created by humanity after fleeing to the moon by the invasion of aliens. The “Yorha” android units have no names, but are rather referred to by their identification numbers. They are prohibited to feel emotion, but each model has their differences. Yorha 2B, for example, appears calm and composed.
Machine Life-Forms
The autonomous machine life-forms that invaded earth. They’re called this because they have the ability to repair and restore themselves, or possibly create new machines. No one knows how powerful they are. However, they are powerful enough to have caused mankind to flee Earth.

NieR: Automata is still to be dated.

NieR New Project – Famitsu Staff Interview
July 2, 2015 - A couple days ago, Famitsu released another staff interview with the developers behind the new NieR title. These are my notes that I took while reading the article.
Simply due to good timing, they were able to involve Platinum Games on a new title on one condition: Yoko Taro must come to their offices in Osaka (Sending Yoko Taro to Osaka was initially Saito’s idea). If he would work seriously on the project in Osaka, then Saito wanted him to work as Director.
While discussing who should take up the character design, Yoko suggested asking Akihiko Yoshida of Bravely Default and Final Fantasy XIV fame to contribute to the project. Yoko had taken a liking to Yoshida’s work for quite some time and thought it would be nice to work with him at some point.
Taura’s first impression of Yoko Taro was that he seemed like a very odd individual who liked to upset the expectations of the player, but during talks about with various elements and parameters in the game, Yoko’s response was the exact opposite of what Taura had imagined that he was instantly reassured.
Saito said that there are many foreign fans who liked the unique world view in the original game, but it’s still very much a niche fanbase. He thinks that involving Platinum Games, Yoshida’s character designs, and Keiichi Okabe’s music, everything should work out.

Yoko Taro has Established His Own Studio!
Creator and Director of the Drakengard/Nier series, Yoko Taro, now has his own studio! Named Bukkoro, it’s, for now, comprised of Yoko Taro, his wife Yoko Yukiko -- art director for the popular Taiko Drum Master series -- and Kikuchi Hana -- the scenario writer of Drakengard 3 and Nier.
At this time, all that is offered on the Bukkoro website are stickers for the messaging app LINE, but it’s safe to assume that we’ll be seeing updates in due time.

Is an absolute joy to see on the dash. Not only is she incredibly spot-on with her muse, but she is easy-going, good-hearted, and genuinely cares about each and every person she follows or who follows her. She has definitely brought her own unique take on Two and brought it to life. I hope she knows how loved she is.

NieR New Project
Here’s a ton more news from Dengeki Online that I translated:
The new game will take place into the future, after Ending D of NieR.
Name drops of the previous NieR characters such as Nier, Yonah, and Kaine are likely, but that is all; however, Yoko Taro said that Emil will make an appearance. Likewise, Accord will also make an appearance in name only. He also said that a certain ******* character(s) will appear. Could this be Devola & Popola (DE-VO-LA-&-PO-PO-LA) or maybe even the Red Dragon (RE-D-DO DO-RA-GO-N)? The Dengeki Online interviewer seemed quite shocked by this news and wondered how it could be possible.
An alternative reading of the Celestial writing in the teaser trailer translates to “ANGEL HUMAN ROBOT”.
There will be a myriad of weapons with Weapon Stories.
There will be multiple playable characters that you can switch between. As far as the E3 announcement, it was stated that there will be 3 playable characters.
You cannot freely switch between the playable characters until you unlock them through multiple play-throughs. This seems like a call-back to the first Drakengard where more characters became playable after each ending.
The parameters for multiple play-throughs is different from previous games.
Emi Evans will be back to sing for the game!!
The majority of the plot and dialogue has already been decided, and the new game will delve deeper within the “World of Yoko Taro”.
