sometimes, it dawns on me just how incredibly happy i am that fanfic exists as a medium. like, the amount of experiences had—excitement and thrills and tears and joy, and more, that writers of fic can give to so, so many people—is immeasurable; it's wonderful.

and just... what an amazing thought, you know? in a world where we are all struggling to get by, to recognise this beautiful thing we've created? knowing that we're all sharing in taking some sort of pleasure or lesson or comfort etc from reading and/or writing it?

i think that's really, really special.

Triad Troubles, Part 2: Featuring Meta Commentary on Fandom

For those who don't know, "ambulance chaser" is a term used pejoratively to describe predatory attorneys who hire inside men from police or funeral homes, or who scour news sites for victims of car accidents or other tragedies. These attorneys then funnel these folks into their business and typically take a huge chunk of the winnings in any civil suits. Also fyi, in many cases this practice is illegal. Like 100% illegal. Obviously, Phoenix is not an ambulance chaser. That's just Miles's idea of flirtation.
