Thought ep.17 & 18 as filler episodes but then there was too much emperor for my liking. Like I get some monarchs are absolute murder tyrant psychos but they do it secretly or at least behind closed doors/in private spaces.

But not this emperor! He loves humiliating and torturing his son in public and doesn't care if non-royals/outsiders know about it. You know how some servants knowingly dismiss themselves when their royal masters fight because the less they know, the more chances they'll live? This royal court is an absolute mess! Where's their Household department to teach the slaves to conduct themselves properly? Aiyah.

I'm mostly blaming the scriptwriter actually.

This man has just been seriously wounded a few days ago!!!! And daddy has him brutally whipped AS PART OF A BET!!!! Just like he ordered him to cut off his own hand and when he terrorized him into it went "hahaha didn't you realize it was a joke."

And then daddy does this!!!! Seriously, his obsession with seeing NH groveling and grabbing him by the throat or chin or w/e to enjoy the damage up close and personal is one of the creepiest things I've seen in a while.

He literally shoves his fingers into NH's wounds!!!!

How dare you bleed when I whip you, I must punish you for this is the most insane thing I've ever heard in a cdrama and that is saying something.

Ok, writer, he's miserable enough, you can stop now, thank you.
