notes: This is kinda sad? And part one of this tale.

The phrase ‘You never know until you try’ was biting Kyoungmin in the ass. How would he know that he didn’t like sex until he tried it? At least, that was his rationale. He now knew that he didn’t like it, but he also now truly knew that condoms weren’t 100% effective.

Some lessons were learned too late and this was one of those cases. He was approached by the woman he had slept with, Jeongah, only to have her inform him that she was pregnant.

Kyo’s world froze for a few moments. He had never wanted kids, it wasn’t ever in his plans, but he didn’t have much of a choice anymore. The woman had offered him an out, offered to give the baby up for adoption, but Kyo couldn’t. This was his child and he would take care of it, that was all there was to it.

The months flew by in a flurry of doctors appointments, sonograms, shopping, and a rushed wedding. The marriage was more out of necessity than love, but neither of them minded. They just wanted to give their baby everything.

The day came when Jeongah went into labor. Kyo stood with his wife, letting her grip his hand as hard as she needed while she pushed. Finally, after hours, the baby came into the world kicking and screaming. Kyo was amazed looking at their baby girl that they had named Yein. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He was allowed to take her into his arms and he couldn't stop the smile that had taken over his face.

Everything was perfect. Until it all came crashing around him. Jeongah was holding Yein, just cradling her daughter close to her chest while Kyo took a short nap. He had been awake for over 24 hours and was crashing. Suddenly a pained shout came from Jeongah, snapping Kyo into attention. His wife was clutching her stomach as nurses and doctors flooded the room, one of them taking Yein out of her mother’s arms and placing her back into the cot the hospital provided. When a nurse took his arm and escorted him out of the hospital room, Kyo instantly knew that his wife was dying.

His worst fears were realized when a doctor emerged from the room and gravely told Kyo that Jeongah had passed away. He was numb; even though him and Jeongah weren’t in love, they were very close, very good friends, and hearing the news of her death shook him.

“What would you like to do about your daughter?”

Kyo froze at the doctor’s words, realizing that he was now a single father.

“You’re right. I’m taking you to eat either way.” Kyo said with a small smile. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Kosum, it was just that he worried. If she had eaten, he was worried that she hadn’t eaten enough or eaten recently. He felt like it was his duty as one of the older people at the company to take care of everyone, but especially Kosum. Her health had not always been the best, which gave Kyo an even stronger desire to make sure that she was taken care of. Kyo tilted his head to the side while he thought about where they could go to lunch, before turning it over to the younger. "We can go get whatever you want, it's your pick and my pay today." He said as if he would ever let her pay. He loved spoiling his dongsaengs.

“even if i say i’ve eaten you’re still going to take me out for food,” her smile twitched up around the corners of her mouth in response to his initial question, one that she was pretty used to. it wasn’t just kyoungmin that asked a lot after all, there were a few that liked to check on her. “so what’re we having today, oppa?” kosum hummed out, tilting her head a little bit. today she actually hadn’t eaten that much, hadn’t had enough time because of her schedules that morning, which was rare. kosum knew she wasn’t supposed to skip meals after all, it made her body weaker than it already was, and she definitely didn’t need that, so she’d be thankful for something to eat right now. @acekyoungmin

When Kyoungmin waved down Kiyeol, he ran down the hallway and embraced his precious Jagiya in a tight hug. “And what has my beautiful Jagiya been up to today?” He peered into the room that Kyoungmin had stepped out of. “A meeting?” he tilted his head. “Ah wait, were you heading to the vending machines? Why don’t we go out and grab something to eat? It will be much better than vending machine food~” Kiyeol spoke with a wide grin. He linked his arm with Kyoungmin’s and bounced excitedly. “Or I could cook something for you if you’d rather have something home-made~” he laughed. “I’m sorry for being so excited Jagiya… I’ve missed you so much!”

A smile stretched across Kyoungmin’s face as he was enveloped in a hug from the younger. Kiyeol was so excited and his enthusiasm was contagious. He couldn’t help the soft laugh that escaped him, as he listened to the other ask questions and then immediately answer them himself. “Yeah It was a meeting. It was pretty boring, just job talk. What are you doing today yobo?” 

Kyo was content enough grabbing food from the vending machine, going out to eat by himself always felt very lonely, but Kiyeol offering his company made Kyo more than happy to go out for food. “Yeah, you know, let’s go grab something. It’ll be better than whatever I could get out of the machine and you never have to be sorry for being excited to see me. I’m excited to see you too!”

what: Reflections on Valentines Day

Kyoungmin was more than happy to be able to walk Nuri back to his dorm. He was about to leave anyways and being helpful made him not feel half as bad about bailing out early. Parties were fun, but only to a certain extent, plus, Kyo didn’t really get Valentines Day. What was the point of having a designated day for spending time and doing something special for the person you loved? Why wouldn’t you just do that everyday?  So while his night wasn’t filled with staring into the eyes of his significant other or receiving lavish gifts, he was happy. He got to help someone, walking Nuri home and listening to the younger tearfully explain how he had felt confident, but the words from his group mates had torn him down. Kyo listened, giving no judgement, just someone to listen. Nuri begged him to not mention his tears to anyone and while Kyo wanted nothing more than to sit Kulap and Byungchul down and explain to them how their words had hurt their leader, he would refrain at the other’s request. Dropping Nuri off at his dorm with a promise that the younger would call him if he needed him, Kyo started towards his apartment.  Kyo had never really wanted any sort of romantic relationship, even less a sexual one. It wasn’t that he was cold, he just didn’t see the the point in having a relationship like that for himself. He didn’t care about being someone like that. Having friends was enough. He walked through his door, pulling his bowtie off as soon as his feet touched his entryway.  “Pixie! Monster!” he called as he walked towards his room and was greeted by a soft meow under his bed. Leaning down a peering under the mattress he was met with the sight of small, glowing eyes that he knew belonged to monster.  “Hi Monster! Where is your brother?” he said, eyes darting around the room before seeing the large cat laying on his mattress, sleeping like Kyo had ever called his name. Changing out of the clothes he has worn to the party, he slid on the loose pajama pants and sat down on his bed. As he settled down, he couldn’t help but sigh. He had seen how the others at the company had treated Nuri for his choice of clothes, how they teased him. It made him even more sure of a fact that he had decided when he first entered the company. He couldn’t let anyone know that he wasn’t a man, he was... nothing. He wasn’t a man. He wasn’t a woman. He was Kyo and that was all.  He wanted to go out wearing skirts and cute tops paired with strappy heels and a perfectly made up face, but he knew he couldn’t. He had to be a man and that was all he was allowed to be. Apparently sensing his distress, Pixie rose from his place curled up next to Kyo’s pillow and nudged his side. Kyo laughed and brushed his hand through the thick fur on his cat’s head. “At least you won’t judge me.” He went into the bathroom to quickly brush his teeth and wash his face before shutting the light in his room off and curling up under his blankets. He could feel his cats pressing against each side of his legs and he closed his eyes. Maybe next year he could break out the heels.

Out of all of his dongsaengs, Taechul was probably one of his favorites. The kid was so quiet and tense around people, but when he was with him, he was vibrant. Kyoungmin was happy he could help the younger feel comfortable. He was supposed to be spending the day with Taechul, but he had been called into a sudden meeting. While he tried to assure the boy that he could go, the boy refused and planted himself on a bench near the meeting room. While Kyo was usually a very attentive employee, but with Taechul sitting outside, he just wanted to leave. He spent a tense hour trying to desperately pay attention, as soon as he was told he could go, he shot up out of his seat and left the room with a quick bow. As soon as he left the room, Taechul was up and holding his hand again. Kyo looked at the younger, never rushing his stammered sentences. “It was a meeting, nothing too exciting.” He grinned widely upon hearing the younger explain that he had waited. “Thank you for waiting for me. You didn’t have to, it was really long. How about we get some lemonade and hoeori gamja for being so patient?”

Taechul was having a very good day today. In fact, it was always a good day when he was hanging out with Kyoungmin. He followed Kyoungmin through the halls since Kyoungmin had a meeting to go to. While his “father” was in the meeting, Taechul sat on a bench outside the room, swinging his legs patiently. He grinned to himself as he played with the skirt he was wearing. When Kyoungmin got out of the meeting, Taechul rushed instantly to his side and held his hand again. “D-Did you have a g-good m-meeting?” he asked, looking towards Kyoungmin with a grin. “I-I waited for you…. it was a l-long meeting..” he chuckled.

Kyoungmin woke up that morning to a phone call from his agent, asking him to come to see him at the company building. He dragged himself out of his warm bed, groaning as his feet hit the floor, the chill making him cringe. He slowly made his way towards his closet and pulled out the first articles of clothing he touched. He quickly changed, trying not to let the temperature seep into his body more that necessary. Despite living in Seoul his entire life, he had never gotten used to the cold. He quickly checked to make sure the cats had food and water, because who knew how long he would be out, before he pulled on his jacket and heading out the door.

The meeting was nothing too exciting, just going over possible jobs they were planning on trying to book for him. When he was finally excused, he left the room accompanied by the sound of his stomach growling. He began walking towards where the vending machines were located at the end of one of the long corridors. He placed his hands in his pockets while he debated over what he would get when he heard a familiar voice calling a familiar pet name down the hall. He spun on his heel and grinned at Kiyeol, waving down the hallway. “Yobo!”

Today was one of those days where Kiyeol couldn’t find anything to do. He went to the practice rooms but much to his surprise, every one of them was taken. Turns out, Kiyeol forgot to book a room for today. He already had his early morning work out and he would probably end up passed out on the floor if he continued doing so all day. So, he has been spending his entire day doing absolutely nothing. Sungki was in school and even after school, his nanny was taking him out for the day. Kiyeol literally had nothing to do.

He wandered aimlessly around the halls of the company, trying to stumble across someone who could cure his loneliness. Kiyeol didn’t want to text or call anyone in the middle of the day since, most people would be busy at this time. He let out a soft sigh and decided he was going to wander back to his apartment. When he turned down a corridor he saw a familiar figure standing at the end of the hallway. “Jagiya!!!” he shouted from the end of the hallway as he waved to Kyoungmin.
