Chapter 2 is out!
Or, as I lovingly summarize this chapter, Kazuya is a Big Demonic Dumbass Who Adds 1, 1 and 2 and somehow comes up with Jun Kazama being as demonically possessed as he is. But don't get the wrong idea, just because he's thinking about her doesn't mean he likes her or anything.
Fandom: Tekken (game canon)
Relationship: Kazama Jun/Mishima Kazuya
Characters: Mishima Kazuya, Kazama Jun, Lee Chaolan | Violet
Additional Tags: Enemies to Lovers, Canon-Typical Violence, Tekken 2 retelling, Childhood Trauma, Ghosts (Figurative), Survivor Guilt
Jun Kazama prepares for the King of the Iron First tournament and unexpectedly finds herself drawn to Kazuya Mishima. Kazuya Mishima, much to his surprise and frustration, finds himself drawn to her as well.
Written for Kaz/Jun week 2024 for the prompt for today, first meeting. I've always wanted to write a Tekken 2 fic for years and decided finally to do it!
Though this chapter has their first meeting, the fic will continue to be updated after Kaz/Jun week ends. This will be multi-chapter, and dual narrators: Jun gets the odd chapters, Kazuya the even.
I plan for it to run through the whole tournament and a lil' after.

Good meta is very good (truly excellent), but I want to point out also that it’s freaking fascinating that Kazuya refuses to talk about his world domination in his ending. Which was something he has wanted to do since at least TEKKEN 1.
And he says bullshit question. He doesn't want to talk about it. Because your (and my, and anyone else's feelings) don't really matter to him on it.
Jun, though?
He's visibly nervous when he starts to talk about her. He does a little swallow, emits a lot of lightning, and visibly stutters that this question is bullshit too...but then pushes through his discomfort to talk about her. Because she is important to him, and he wants everyone to know that she is the ONLY person he considers on his level. That man is publicly declaring she is his.
And that's pretty notable when this man couldn't even bother to tell the world that he killed Heihachi Mishima; it wasn't important to him that anyone else know he achieved a final victory over his father.
....Also, I just want to point out that that ending, while showing Jun is accepting of Kazuya's ways, it also shows the reverse as well: not only is that picture taken most likely in Yakushima (or at minimum, a very woodsy area that is so much more Jun's speed than his), but he leaves the window open in his office...so she can come and go as she pleases.
For a man so possessive that he felt he needed to conquer the entire world, to give her unlimited freedom?
That's love.
I read a quote once that was something along the lines of 'if I have to write two characters kissing for you to know that they're in love, I have failed as a writer.' This is a sentiment I not only agree wholeheartedly with, but something that came to mind when wanting to do an analysis of Kazuya's character ending and kazjun's relationship.
We get a bit of environmental storytelling with her picture. It's a beautiful photo, clearly posed for, and lovingly encased in an elaborate pure gold frame. The vibes are expensive, luxurious, and meaningful because he clearly cared enough to have it custom-made since it's got the Zaibatsu's logo on it. Behind the picture frame are two porcelain teacups and a teapot, along with Rochefort Tea, Azucena's coffee and that mixed blend of both. That tells us they frequently have tea and coffee together in his office!
On the first question Kazuya is asked, he is immediately dismissive of it. Asking about Jun however not only gets an immediate physical reaction with the curled fist and him filling the room with electricity, but he goes on to make it explicit that she is the only person in the world that he sees as an equal. She stood up to him over 20 years ago and he never forgot it. And, she's just as strong now if not moreso.
When he throws the trophy, that's him giving a demonstration of this. He's showing her off! He knew she would catch it, and likewise Jun knows that he knew she would, which is why she gives that soft little smile. And his tone when he delivers the "tsuyoi" is... very telling. He not only acknowledges and values her strength but is extremely attracted to it.
There's also the added framing context of this episode, that it's a documentary on him. He just publicly declared to the world that her strength turns him on. Iconic.
It's pretty damn clear that he loves her, not only from all of the above but the fact that he demonstrated it at all in the first place. Kazuya doesn't bother to talk about things he doesn't care about.

TEKKEN 8 SPOILERS FOR Kazuya’s ending
.
.
.
So uh a fun tidbit for the Kazuya / Jun fans … I think they might be married in Kazuya’s Japanese ending???
The title card that is subtitled in English as “Kazuya’s leading lady”?
In Japanese it’s subtitled ファーストレディ… First Lady. Like a presidents wife kinda First Lady.
…I literally cannot imagine a couple with a less cohesive political agenda lol.
