It's no secret I love when barriers hurt me, so Revenged Love's seventeenth and eighteenth episodes did an excellent job of making me feel the pain as these two continued to build up to their breakup through the barriers that kept popping up between them.

First, the way the camera zoomed out during this conflict allowed more barriers to come between them as the argument continued.

When the discussion first began, there was only one barrier because Chi Cheng was upset at Wu Suo Wei, but once Chi Cheng asked Wu Suo Wei if he thought he was just a toy, that's when Wu Suo Wei's anger rose and more barriers appears.

And even when they came back together, there was not only still a barrier between them, but Chi Cheng was emotionally isolated. He is blurred by the water falling while hiding the fact that Wu Suo Wei's mother is dying yet, in that moment, Wu Suo Wei is happy.

Then the final barrier allows everything to come back to start because it is the same barrier that was between them in the beginning. The tree. Wu Suo Wei's schemes.

In episode two, Chi Cheng showed up to question why Wu Suo Wei stopped playing (basketball) games. Wu Suo Wei responded that he simply didn't want to play anymore, which upset Chi Cheng. He knew Wu Suo Wei had been scheming. That didn't bother him. What bothered him was Wu Suo Wei stopping because he knew Wu Suo Wei enjoyed it.

So the breakup in episode eighteen was a beautiful way to bring them back to that moment and close the circle. Chi Cheng has known Wu Suo Wei was scheming this entire time. He even said he was fine forgiving all of it as long as Wu Suo Wei was sincere somewhere along the way.

But unlike the first time where Chi Cheng continues to fight Wu Suo Wei's schemes,

This time, he admits defeat.

Because the barriers between them aren't because of him. Chi Cheng, just like with the water blurring him, can't even been seen in this fight because it's not really about him, so he is emotionally isolated. He is emotionally detached.

In fact, "[he] is happy. [He] is so happy that [he] doesn't know what to say"

So he walks on and over the exact page of the book that says "BREAK UP!" because that's what Wu Suo Wei clearly wants them to do even though Chi Cheng isn't sure why Wu Suo Wei wants that.

But this has always been this Black Brooder's fatal flaw. Chi Cheng will go along with anything if he loves someone. He will never question why they hurt him. And he will forgive them.

As long as they stick around to explain themselves.

So even though there are still barriers between them, Wu Suo Wei is still at work, still showing up, and still in Chi Cheng's life.

Plus, he is in there colors!

And Chi Cheng knows better than anyone that sometimes people do and say things they don't mean to protect you, but it's the people who don't abandon you who love you.

chi cheng isn't upset that wu suowei doesn't love him. no. he knows suowei loves him, he does. they've been together long enough and chi cheng is good at reading people and situations. he saw with his own eyes how suowei reacted when he thought he was gonna lose chi cheng.

chi cheng is upset because suowei thinks chi cheng doesn't love him. not enough or at all. he's changed himself because he can't bear to hurt suowei in any way at all. he'd rather hurt himself than suowei. it's why chi cheng feels wronged, that suowei can't grasp the depth of his love. that everything he does is for suowei.

what chi cheng doesn't know is how big suowei's self-worth issues are. suowei is loud and bratty, but his heart has been damaged, it's fragile under all that noise. chi cheng might have an idea of it, but he's never realised how bad it might be or that it would become an issue for their relationship.

Wu Suo Wei's actions were deliberate.

In episode 16, Xiaoshuai told Suowei that the proof of Chi Cheng's love for him is in what he said and did when the snake attacked him. But Suowei responds that how Chi Cheng interacts with Wang Shuo makes him think that Chi Cheng is not yet over Wang Shuo.

In episode 18, we see this exchange, solidifying the idea that Suo Wei believes Chi Cheng still has feelings for Wang Shuo.

Then Suo Wei brings up Yue Yue. Wang Shuo acknowledges that he knows that they dated and then he threatens him with this:

So then we get to this scene, where Suo Wei sees for his own eyes what he thinks is Chi Cheng's feelings for Wang Shuo, who says this:

Which implies that Wang Shuo will use Yue Yue as his "last trick" against Suo Wei. And that's when Wu Suo Wei decides to take action. As he's leaving, his says this to XiaoShuai. The proverb "A journey 90% completed is only half done" means that the final stages of a plan are the most difficult, but also the most important for success.

Everything Wu Suo Wei did was deliberate. He got the proof needed that Wang Shuo did not sleep with Chengyu. Then he "disappeared," forcing Chi Cheng to the clinic to look for him. And he set out the journal and pictures for Chi Cheng to find.

And when Chi Cheng confronts him, he says this, which on the surface may seem like the "us" is Chi Cheng and Wang Shuo, but really is about Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei.

Because setting Chi Cheng free, along with the video, allows him to come to terms with his feelings, which is why we get this:

Wu Suo Wei was intentional in his actions because he knew that these things needed to happen for Chi Cheng to come back to him.

I just don't understand this plan tbh like Wang shuo I know is far from rational, especially concerning chi Cheng, but even wu Suo Wei I'm like...why would chi Cheng EVER go back to someone who did those things? Especially given how much he prized his relationship with Chengyu and how close they were and how their relationship was devastated these last 7 years for no reason at all.

Like sure Chengyu clung onto chi Cheng stubbornly and that's why the relationship is still present, and we know chi Cheng loves his schemers but like...why are they both so convinced that knowing that Wang shuo set it all up and nothing happened would make him look better? Like what?
