13 Moons Reading Challenge 2024
Worm Moon
Update of this moon's prompts of @readnburied reading challenge!
Reading goal for now — Partial Lunar Eclipse: 26 books
A book that gives you the creeps: Dracula, by Bram Stoker. ☆☆☆☆ I started this book as a challenge with my best friend: we started it on the same day and we updated each other as the reading went on. She finished it before me - I'm a slooow reader - but I loved confronting each other on our expectations and reviews. Regarding the book itself, I enoyed it very much, Stoker's writing is beautiful and inspiring, and every page is so full of that platonic love that lives and grows just between the characters, that I've grown rather fond of nearly everybody. The ending left me a bit disappointed, but it doesn't ruin at all my overall experience with this book. Totally deserves its reputation.
A book you’re not sure about: The Cloven Viscount (Il Visconte Dimezzato), by Italo Calvino. ☆☆☆☆ I was not sure of Calvino - I have never read anything from him before this - and still I'm unsure on the rate of this book. It's from a collection of 3 independent stories and the reading was rather short. I really liked the concept, and its overall development was satisfying. It offered me some parts to reflect about, since everything is just a bigger metaphore, and the author didn't mind describing triggering or disgusting scenes (which I didn't mind at all as you can see from what I read earlier); now, I guess that what I liked less were the hints of realism that Calvino's writing style has, typical of some Italian literary trends. The realism is not obviously about the plot, but rather about the description of the simple lifestyles of the characters, that straightforward way of telling "just how things are", choosing not to add much more besides the essential, but relying way more on the actions the characters make rather than to delve into their feelings and thoughts. Even though realism always gives me the ick, I have to say that I wasn't that much bothered by it this time, since the ambience was still kinda introspective, philosofical and fantastical at times: I will definitely read the other 2 books from this little serie.
shout out for those two oldies - these are the best pics I could find of the versions I read. I love 'em!!

16th of March, 2024
I've been blessed with a calm mind and a beautiful sunset. The fresh air of the evening as the sun hides behind the mountains.
I want to remember my parents hugging me thight as I wake up. Reading all day. Petting my little dog and cat as they give me heart eyes.
Current reading: Dracula, by Bram Stoker

I celebrated my 23rd birthday a few days ago. It was nice. Some nights I just need to get a little drunk and wander through the city with my friends, laugh as the dark swallows everything around us, sing stupid songs and pose for pictures in the rare lights of the luminaires.

13 Moons Reading Challenge 2024
Snow Moon
Update of this moon's prompts of @readnburied reading challenge!
Reading goal for now — Partial Lunar Eclipse: 26 books
The word White in the title: White Nights (Le notti bianche), by Fëdor Dostoevskij.  ☆☆☆☆ I loved it. The day I finished this book, I cried. It was a couple of days ago, at the end of a particularly tiring day. I haven't been in a nice place lately, mentally speaking, and in the last few days I felt it all way too much. I related to the main character in a twisted but profound way - and yes I'm aware of all the motives that make this book "old", nonetheless, I couldn't help it. In my way of thinking, if a book moves something inside of me, it's just a really good book. I regret to inform y'all that this'll go straight to my faves (just like every Dostoevskij's book I've read, I see a pattern).
Read a book while drinking a hot beverage/read a book while burning a candle: Death with Interruptions (Le intermittenze della morte), by José Saramago. ☆☆☆☆ This book was so easy to read and so enterteining. It offers a lot of food for thought, without being too complex ever. I liked the humor of the author so much, it makes everything lighter than it seems. I was afraid it got too weird at some point, but in the end it didn't, so I really liked the ending. A light but reflective reading, with some really poetic moments. Recommended!
I'll leave here the Italian covers, since I've read these two in italian.

do I really need to cry or is just tyler joseph's voice singing to me?
