Saeth is finally firmly set as a rogue/sorcerer... yes she was a warlock/fighter for the longest time until i decided on a set backstory for her.

The sorcerer levels are just for flavor, her build is more rogue focused overall. Shadow magic is just meant to explain her mono-smokey appearance (smoke toned skin, the flame white-grey eyes and black hair) and the ~spookiness~ that unsettled her grandfather into spiriting her away at birth and convincing his daughter and son in law that the baby died. Also didn't help she was a tiefling born to human parents, a manifestation of her maternal families' dealing with the infernal in the past.

Grew up as an urchin/orphan in Baldur's Gate, but eventually she hits up home and accepts pay off money from dear grandda to stay away. (He lies to her that her mother had a nervous breakdown after she saw her at birth and her frail health is from that-- it's actually because she has never gotten over her first child "dying" :') )

Saeth actually has a human younger sister-- who Saeth eventually reunites with post-game and discovers said sister is married and BOTH her children are also tieflings who resemble their aunt... and grandma adores them???? The math isn't mathing. Sister manages to convince her to meet her mother and she learns she was never unwanted or hated. Grandfather is dead by now so good RIDDANCE.

I had to give ONE of my girls a happy family ending after poor Anathema ends up with a dead mom and an older sister who would kill her on sight (drow be drowing).

Saeth deals with a lot of low self image so when Gale comes around competing for who-can-hate-themselves-most award, she is flabbergasted because he is so smart and so charming and wonderful and passionate. How can he possibly settle for someone as ungoddess like as her?

And in turn Gale sees a capable, confident woman who knows who she is and is just so competent and brave and kind and is terrible at hiding her soft spot for children. How could she possibly want someone as flawed as him?

Was talking about Gale to my bf and he passionately goes on about how Gale was trapped in an "abusive power dynamic" by Mystra and how there is such shady vibes in how she uses her authority and his reverence to her over him. How it wasn't a relationship, Gale was just a plaything who never had equal ground with her....a man who has never logged onto tumblr in his life. I was just nodding like yes boi pop off.
