hi im here again but its with my absolute favorite ww lovers austria-hungary nd german empire!! its a valentines day oneshot which is a tad late but i wrote it in february so theres that. story under the cut🩷

Valentine’s Day was either a day you couldn’t care less about, or panicked over. German Empire used to not care, he wasn’t the type for any sort of the self-care things, and before, he didn’t have a significant other to share anything with. 

German Empire glanced over at the other side of the bed, Austria-Hungary on his side, one of his arms lazily resting across the mattress, the symbols that went over Austria-Hungary’s eyes forgotten someplace else on the bed. 

Now he did have someone to share it with. 

He reached over and brushed a few stray locks of hair out of Austria-Hungary’s face, “Guten Morgen, mien Schatzi,” He murmured, despite knowing Austria-Hungary was still asleep. German Empire had prepared what he wanted to do long before this date, and now that it was here, he still felt like something was preventing it from being perfect. Maybe it was the fact that it was already morning and Austria-Hungary was still asleep. “Austria-Hungary,” German Empire called softly, leaning over to Austria-Hungary, gently tugging him closer so his voice wouldn’t be harsh, but a little louder, “Mien liebe, it’s morning now,” He said, gently poking Austria-Hungary’s cheek, “Wake up,”

Austria-Hungary’s response was an incoherent mumble as he began to stir, shifting slightly as he started to wake up. A gentle smile surfaced on German Empire’s face as he saw Austria-Hungary’s pale eyes slowly open, “Is it bright out?” Austria-Hungary asked, his voice thick with sleep. 

“Yes, otherwise, why would I wake you?” German Empire replied, a hint of teasing in his tone.

“Don’t know…” Austria-Hungary mumbled, sitting up slightly, “I’m tired,” “I can tell, but, mien Schatzi, we have things to do today, so up you get,” German Empire told the other. He couldn’t help but chuckle softly at Austria-Hungary’s `groggy expression, his eyes fond. “You look so adorable when you’re all sleepy,” German Empire remarked, standing from the bed. He looked back at Austria-Hungary. 

“Austria-Hungary…” The other gave a hum in reply. “You’re just sitting there,” German Empire said, walking over to Austria-Hungary’s side of the bed, “You can’t sit all day, we have things planned, today is special, remember?” He grabbed Austria-Hungary’s hands and tugged him up and off the bed carefully, making sure the blind nation didn’t stumble. German Empire let one of his hands leave Austria-Hungary’s and rest on his waist, gently pulling him closer against him, “You’re so pretty in the morning,” German Empire murmured, his hand sliding to the small of Austria-Hungary’s back, taking him into a proper hug. Austria-Hungary leaned against German Empire, his head resting on German Empire’s shoulder, “I could go back to sleep like this…” Austria-Hungary mumbled. German Empire laughed, “No, no, don’t go back to sleep, blödchen,” He told Austria-Hungary, shifting to hold Austria-Hungary at arm’s length like a misbehaving kitten, “We have plans, mien liebe, now come on,” 

After maybe about half an hour, the two were more ready to venture into the outside world than they were an hour before. Austria-Hungary’s symbols were found and placed back over his sightless eyes. German Empire grabbed his coat and Austria-Hungary’s from the rack, “It’s going to be a bit cold out,” He told Austria-Hungary, handing the latter his coat. As Austria-Hungary did that, German Empire took out the carefully folded paper in his pocket and read over it. 

His plans should all go accordingly, it had to. He had been planning this for months, of course, it was nothing incredibly significant, but German Empire always loved planning things out, and one for a day like this, specifically for Austria-Hungary, it had to be perfect to the very last detail. He took one of Austria-Hungary’s hands in his, “Are you ready, Schatzi?” 

“Yes, and where exactly are we going?” Austria-Hungary asked, looking at German Empire. The latter simply smiled, “You’ll see,” With that, he opened the door and stepped out, careful to focus on leading Austria-Hungary as well. He kept a decent pace, not walking slow, as Austria-Hungary disliked it, but didn’t walk too fast so as to not drag Austria-Hungary around. 

The day was filled with various things that German Empire had planned out. German Empire was not the type to give out his love freely, but when he did love, he would stop at nothing to give them every single thing they wanted. 

He spent the day doting on Austria-Hungary, just to see him smile, German Empire would do just about anything. When it was nearing evening, the two began to head home, Austria-Hungary walking closely beside German Empire due to the drops in temperature. 

When they two had entered their home, Austria-Hungary began to leave German Empire’s side to head to the couch, but German Empire gently caught Austria-Hungary’s wrist and tugged him back, “Not so fast, mien Schatzi. Just because we’re home, who said my plans were finished?” 

“What else do you want to do?” Austria-Hungary asked, and German Empire smiled, “Just wait for a moment, my love, stay there for a moment,” German Empire turned away from Austria-Hungary to the record on a small end table in the corner of the room. He set the tonearm on the record and let the record start playing the song. German Empire walked back over to Austria-Hungary, taking one of his hands in his own, putting the other on Austria-Hungary’s waist. 

“This was the last part of my plan, Meine Taube,” German Empire murmured, pulling Austria-Hungary closer against him, his hand moving from Austria-Hungary’s waist to his back, allowing him to pull Austria-Hungary even closer.

“You always like doing this,” Austria-Hungary said softly, and German Empire smiled, “Yes, I do, and that’s why we’re doing it today,” He took the lead in a slow, gentle movement, guiding Austria-Hungary carefully through the motions. The two remained silent, letting the music be the only sound, the melody guiding their every movement. As they danced, German Empire looked at Austria-Hungary, his heart near throbbing with the amount of love he felt for the nation in his arms. As the music slowed, they did as well, until German Empire stopped, tilting Austria-Hungary’s chin up gently. 

“Thank you for today,” Austria-Hungary said softly, a small, genuine smile etching his features. 

“No, mein Herz, thank you,” German Empire closed the distance between them and gently kissed Austria-Hungary, his hand leaving Austria-Hungary’s to carefully hold the back of the other’s head, his fingers tangling softly in Austria-Hungary’s hair. After another moment, German Empire pulled away, resting his forehead against Austria-Hungary’s, his hand still in the latter’s hair. 

“Alles Gute zum Valentinstag,” German Empire murmured. 

“Boldog Valentin napot neked is szerelmem,” Austria-Hungary replied. 

“Ich liebe dich, mein Schatz, für immer und endlos,” German Empire stood up a little straighter to press a kiss against Austria-Hungary’s forehead, “Für immer und endlos,” He repeated, his words almost said against Austria-Hungary’s skin. 

“Amíg a halál el nem választ minket,” Austria-Hungary replied softly.
