(same anon as the yb ask) WAIT cause i was actually wondering about that. Before the sakamakis' coming of age ceremony, are they like... Not vampires? Maybe not humans but just normal demons who dont have any distinguishing features from humans other than their lifespans? Also im mega sad reiji's theory in dark fate wasnt elaborated on. It was so interesting 😭

so in YB because we find out the sakamakis didn't drink blood as kids, in fact they thought it was a myth that vampires drank blood at all, and they only develop a taste for blood after karl heinz does some weird surgery on them. apparently this ritual is only for Very Important Vampires so we can assume no other vampires go through the same thing. and, to remind you, reiji's theory is that all vampires are human originally.

unfortunately we don't have any lore about how the sakamakis' bodies worked before this ritual. we know that they weren't drinking blood, and we know that karl heinz started them on human food early in their lives (part of reiji's theory is that karl heinz's fascination with human culture has to do w/ them not being originally vampires), so I kinda assume they were just eating human food. I wonder if they actually needed human food, because it'd be pretty crazy if this ritual was their first experience with "hunger."

but like. this is what fucks me up. how do OTHER vampires gain a taste for blood if this ritual is for Very Important Vampires only? because it's inconceivable to me that karl heinz and his crew are doing this, or something similar, to every vampire in the demon world. this ritual might have more to do with the Adam experiment instead of, like, turning the sakamakis into true vampires right there, but the fact remains that ayato got his taste for blood during that ritual. does it just happen naturally to other vamps, like with puberty...? every time I think about it too hard, my head starts hurting lol

what does "vampires are originally human" even mean.......!!! ALL of them? starting from when? I thought you guys went back to biblical times? what about the fact that the Founders are like your ancestor species? are vampires naturally born to vampire parents (like you, reiji!!) also somehow non-vampire at the start? is this different from the process of turning vampires that the mukamis went through? reiji EXPLAIN
