I realise that it may be too early to ask for help for something like this, but I can't stand living in Kharkiv anymore. My anxiety is growing every day, and the constant pressure from one of my parental figures doesn't make the situation any better I'm actively taking commissions for an unlimited period, and I'm opening a donation to raise money to go to my grandfather. I would be grateful for any help, even just sharing this post, as russia continues to bomb and kill Ukrainian civilians (which is why I am leaving in a first place)

where did you do studies of colors/generally how you learned to use texture and brushes?

I'm glad you asked! Well, let's start from the very beginning. I started studying colour at art school, but they discouraged me from doing so, so for a long time I didn't want to and couldn't paint in colour until I had the desire. I studied works by Leuendecker, Michelangelo, and basically any artists I liked. Then, a full-scale war broke out. Due to this, I wanted to express my feelings and not in an imposed style, but to try something new, to do as my soul wished. And so I made my first full colour painting after a long pause. Now I mostly look at the works of other artists and photographs that I like for their vibe?? when I paint something in colour, I don't think about what colours they are, but what atmosphere they convey. And I`m after some... cozy-like country-fantasy one, i think? tutorials help, but I don't use them as often as I do open-air paintings and studies!

What's your opinion on about what's happening to Palastine?

I am absolutely against any genocide, including genocide against the people of Palestine. As a Ukrainian from the frontline city, I understand perfectly well the pain and suffering that Palestinians go through, and I keep my fingers crossed for every civilian soul who suffers from the attacks of the Zionists.

Finally can post full pic of Udil'nytsya for Mal'oviy' artbook dedicated to Ukrainian mythology!

Udil'nytsya is a spirit-stealer of fate, happiness, which gives another fate in life: illness, death, ugliness. The genius of evil fate: black, hairy, disheveled. They prematurely take the baby out of the womb and disfigure it, torment the woman in labor. If a pregnant woman sleeps sprawled out, without a belt, and a knife is left on the table, the women take the baby out with it. Therefore, freaks are born or the belly is empty, even if there are all the signs of pregnancy.

There’s a protest going on against AI art over on artstation, so I feel like now is the time for me to make a statement on this issue! 

I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product. 

Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently?

Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent.

Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases. 

Artists, speak out against this predatory practice! Our art should not be exploited without our consent, and we deserve to be compensated when our art is exploited for commercial use.
