Ascended!Astarion Stans being mad because Larian is making him potentially cringe in the Patch 7 update need to stop reading the fanfic. Ascended!Astarion has always been cringe. He becomes a 10 Charisma mf who thinks he has 26 Charisma. Him being like “I’m the Sun King” is exactly what he’d say. Sorry that Larian isn’t feeding into y’all kinks or whatever but the man is cringe. Unless you thirsty for Ascended!Astarion, every time he speaks he’s cringe and embarrassing. Like he turns all brand new the second he becomes ascended. I think they should make him more socially unaware and cringe tbh. I feel like picking dark urge for your evil playthrough makes sense but I also think dark urge is more interesting when you're trying *not* to be evil so my hot take is that Durge should be your good playthrough so you care more when things go wrong and Tav should be your evil playthrough so you have no one to blame but yourself

Throughout Acts 1 and 2, Astarion can only say Cazador’s name in a spitting, venomous tone charged with emotion. In the graveyard with Spawn Astarion, he is finally able to speak Cazador’s name in a soft tone even when recounting trauma. There’s still pain but it no longer consumes him, he’s finally able to talk about it in an open and intimate way with friends he trusts. Compared to Ascended Astarion who not only says Cazador’s name the same way and refuses to talk about his trauma but screams at and belittles Tav/Durge if she asks if he’s like Cazador now. He is forever emotionally enslaved to Cazador and trapped in the vampiric abuse cycle.

actually maybe it is fucked up that astarion’s story is about allowing yourself to be deserving of love even if you are fucked up and traumatised and have a deeply complicated relationship with sex / aversion to sex and some people’s response to that was ‘if u act nice to the hot sassy vampire u will Fix Him & be rewarded with sex uwu’
