She hadn’t expected him to be here as she looked up at him, though it didn’t stop the automatic smile that pulled at her lips.“You’re sweet Brody.” She tucked her hair behind her ear, and carefully pulled the jacket off to pay for it. “The muggles seem to be ahead of us in regards to practicality.” She was mainly talking to herself unsure how to be around him. “What’s brought you around here?”
Brody offered her a smile in thanks for her compliment. Though, he wasn’t trying to be sweet, necessarily, only honest. Merlin, he missed her. “It’s surprising how ahead of us they are in some aspects,” Brody nodded in agreement. He didn’t have extensive knowledge about the muggle world, but he had seen some of their interesting creations -- beyond clothing -- and it was sometimes quite impressive. The wizard shrugged at her question and his eyes searched for hers. “A guy can’t go for a wander to this part of time during his time off?” He asked. Truly, there wasn’t much else to do in the town.

“It suits you.” Brody said with a light chuckle, watching the witch’s half-dance.
“Y’know, this muggle clothing isn’t actually that bad. I think it’s growing on me.”

“Jesse.” It was the only word that she could manage to have fall from her lips, she was still in shock to find out that he was alive. She was finally beginning to move on with her life and pick up the pieces yet here she was feeling like she’d had the rug ripped out from under her. She melted into his arms taking comfort from his presence, just like when she was a child. She gripped the back of his t-shirt tightly as the tears ran down her face.
That was a name he had not heard in a long time, and nor had he expected to hear it. Last he had known, Jesse had been murdered by the Death Eaters. Those facts didn’t change even with the addition of magic. He waited a moment before speaking. “Jesse’s... dead, Si.” There was evident confusion in his voice as he tried to understand the situation. Though he continued to hug her, his hand gently stroking her hair to help calm her down.

“You know he’ll never leave you alone now.” She stated with a smile as she watched from the doorway of the shop she had just walked out of. “You’ve more than likely just gained yourself a new pet.”
Brody looked up to where the voice was coming from and smiled at the brunette. “Well, if that’s the case, then so be it.” He shrugged, the smile growing a little wider. “Could make the place a bit more homely.” He joked.

Seeing his sister so obviously upset, Brody immediately walked towards Sienna and placed his arms around her. “Hey, it’s okay.” He said in a hushed voice. Though he wasn’t sure what on earth she was talking about, he figured that he wasn’t likely to get a coherent sentence out of her just yet. As such, he waited a moment and squeezed her tight before pulling away slightly and meeting her gaze. “What’s wrong, Si? What happened?”

“He doesn’t remember me. He has no idea who I am. What we were.” The words tumbled out of her lips as she tried not crumble to pieces. She had no idea how she had managed to get herself to Brody’s room but having no idea where to go or what to do, the only thing that came to mind was a hug from her older brother.”

Crouching down on the side of the pavement, Brody held out his hand to the small cat that had been following him for the best part of ten minutes. He had finally given up and decided to give it some attention. It took little consideration before the cat nuzzled into the wizard and a smile found its way to his lips. “You happy now, little man?” He asked it, shaking his head and chuckling lightly as the cat moved further towards him.

“You didn’t know? Brody, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to put that on you.” Her eyes widened slightly. She thought that everyone knew who had been taken and been made a prisoner, Brody included. Knowing that he didn’t have any idea of her capture, she couldn’t help but feel slightly bad for dropping that bombshell on him when he clearly had enough going on. She’d wondered what he’d been up to since they had last seen each other. “It’s fine, it is what is. I guess I was one of the luckier ones, I managed to get off lighter than some of the others.” She tried to ease his worries and take the current look from his eyes. “Is she okay? Was it the attack?” Needing to busy herself and to not think about her time as a captive, she stood up from her bed and started putting some of her belongings away. Though of course it meant that she was also putting some distance between the two of them which also wasn’t a bad thing.
Brody’s brows drew together as she spoke, but he shook his head. This wasn’t any fault of hers. He was still catching up with the things that had happened in town in his absence. There was a lot to take in, and Brody found himself wondering if The Order had bitten off more than it could chew. “You’re not putting anything on me.” He sighed and met her gaze, eyes soft and caring. “Being their prisoner still isn’t a light sentence.” Brody noted. “I’m glad you’re okay.” Despite their time apart, Brody was certain that if anything bad had happened to Natasha, he would not be able to deal with it. He still held a great deal of love for the woman he’d hoped to spend his life with. “If you need anything, or just some company, I’ll be here.” He offered, a small smile pulling on the corners of his lips. He wasn’t sure how long he would be in the town for, but he hoped it was long enough to spend some time with her, if that was even possible. It had been too long. The wizard nodded in response to her questions. “She’s fine, for the most part.” Of course she was still healing from the attack, but it was better than an alternative that Brody didn’t even want to consider. “But I should have been there for her.” He sighed, frowning. “And you.” The words were quieter but still loud enough to hear.

“I’d have been fine, you didn’t have to come running all the way for me.” Though what she wouldn’t admit was that she was actually glad he came. “You had your own life to live, you didn’t have to give that up to come look after me. You’ve done that enough growing up.” As they pulled away from each other, she couldn’t quite bring herself to meet his gaze when he mentioned the attack. “We don’t need to worry about that. I’m fine.”
“Now, I wouldn’t be a very good big brother if I didn’t come running here, would I?” He said, looking down at his sister and raising a brow. His face remained straight for a moment before he offered her a smile and shook his head. “There was no way I wasn’t coming here. And there’s no point arguing now.” He informed her. Family was always going to be more important than anything else he was doing. Brody gave his sister a pointed look after her comment. “Si, it matters.”

“You’re right, I should be so pessimistic. I mean we managed to escape them after all.” Trying to gain composure and control over her feelings, she pulled out of his hug and away from him gently allowing some distance between the two of them. She cleared her throat as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “When– when did you get here Brody? I hadn’t realised you had moved to town.”
“Escape them?” Brody questioned, brows drawing together. He’d heard that the Death Eater’s had taken members but had never imagined Natasha would be one of them. “Merlin, Tasha.” His eyes were wide now, meeting her gaze as they parted. “I’m sorry.” It was a general sorry, rather than his own apology, but genuine nonetheless. “I haven’t long got here. I heard something had happened to Sienna and you know me -- had to come running.” He shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal that he had pretty much abandoned his post to be there.

“I didn’t even realise you were in town! Of course I’m surprised.” As soon as she felt his arms wrap around her, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of home and a sense of safety. One that she felt as a child, whenever she would fall and scrape her knee, he’d always be the one to pick her back up and dust her off. “I’ve missed you so much Brody.” She closed her eyes tightly trying to fight back the tears and the memories. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to, I swear.”
“I wasn’t. Not until now.” He laughed lightly. “But I came running just for you.” Brody placed another kiss on the top of her head, squeezing her tightly as his arms remained around her. “I’ve missed you too, Si.” He shook his head at her apology. “You’ve got nothing to apologise for,” he said, pulling away slightly to meet his sister’s gaze. “Whoever hurt you does.”

She hadn’t seen who had entered the room, if Natasha was honest she had been mainly talking to herself when she made her confession. It was only as she felt the familiar feel of his arms pulling her into a hug, that she realised who it was. She hadn’t felt his comfort in what felt like years and she hadn’t realised just how much she needed one of his hugs until now. Burying her face into his shoulder she breathed in his smell and tried to remember how things used to be. “You can’t know that. Every time we seem like we’re getting somewhere and that we move two steps forward, we seem to move five steps back.”
Brody closed his eyes as she moved closer into him, taking in a deep breath. “It does seem that way.” He let the breath out in a sigh. “But, we’ve got to hope things will get better -- we moved a hell of a distance with all those Death Eaters now out of commission.” He reminded her. “We’ve still got a fighting chance.” He pulled back slightly to meet her gaze, his blue eyes filled with hope and conviction.

Sienna was unsure on how long she was asleep when she heard the door being opened causing her to wake up. Turning her head to see who it was, Sienna watched as the person she least expected it to be, causing a large small smile to form on her face. “Brody?” Surprised laced her voice as she stared at him wide eyed. “I– You..” She fumbled with her words, a small laugh escaping her lips. “What are you doing here? When did you get here?” She’d never been so happy to see her big brother, she’d honestly never missed him so much and seeing him in front of her made her so happy. “I’d be much better if I got a hug.” She teased.
A smile found its way to Brody’s lips, mirroring the one on his sister’s. “Don’t look so surprised.” He winked at her, taking another sip from his mug before placing it on the table. “You didn’t expect me to sit around and do nothing while my baby sister was hurting, did you?” He tilted his head to the side slightly, and raised a brow before moving in to grant her wish. His arms wrapped around her in an almost bear-hug. He made sure to be gentle, even so, and placed a kiss on her head. “You scared me, Si.”

With a mug in each hand, Brody pushed the door open with his back and entered the room. His gaze landed on his sister and he offered her an immediate smile. He moved across the room and placed one mug on the table beside her. “Just the way you like it,” he smiled. “And --” he reached into his pocket with his, now free, right hand and pulled out a bar of chocolate. “A little something to sweeten it up.” He placed it down next to the mug before meeting his sister’s gaze. “How are you feeling?” He asked, bringing his own mug to his lips and taking in the hot liquid.

Brody clenched his jaw as he listened to her words. He hated seeing her like this, and even though they weren’t involved anymore -- and she’d moved on, he couldn’t help the impulse that overcome him and he pulled her into a hug. After a moment, he spoke. “The war will be over soon, and we won’t have to see any of it again.” It was blind hope, but he hoped it would be comforting all the same.
“I’ll never get their faces out of my head. I close my eyes and I see them. So lifeless.” The nightmares hadn’t stopped, only fueled more by having to hear the additional screams of her fellow prisoners during their capture.
