From Across the Street

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late post of the fanfic, I had some outlying stuff come up but I’m here now! This will be a Levi Ackerman fanfic so please enjoy! Smut will come later, this will be a slow burn because those just hit different :D Alora and Miyuki are my OCs, Alora is 25, and Miyuki is in her late 70s. Without further ado…

Slow days, fast days, don't make much of a difference. The banging of hammers pounding into the walls, constant yelling, sawing, customers have come up to me complaining about the noise.

“Alora, are they ever going to finish? It's been three months!” Our regular customer Ms. Miyuki asks. “I’m not sure how you can stand there and not get bothered by all the noise.”

“Ms. Miyuki believe me it still bothers me, but I’m also kind’ve used to it now. The renovation across the street sounds like it’s right next door. At least it will be over soon.” Alora kindly annotates for her.

“Hm.. I still don’t understand why it’s taking them so long to renovate a tea shop. I heard it’s under new management but still.” Her elderly finger played with the petals of nearby flowers, gazing amongst the orchids, lilies, aloe, and more. The elderly woman sees a single small pot of white hydrangeas on the floor slowly wilting. Ever so slowly, Ms. Miyuki picks it up, her dark brown eyes adoring the flower. She lightly sets in on the counter to buy.

Alora rings up the white hydrangea for Ms. Miyuki, wishing she too could leave. The noise was bothersome, an earsore if not an eyesore for the mess. Minutes felt like hours, dragging along after Ms. Miyuki left.

Sighing, Alora goes into the bathroom to wash her face and look in the mirror. Long dark wavy hair disheveled, barely kept tied in a high ponytail with some face framing pieces set freely out. Her green eyes shine thanks to the routined eye makeup consisting of nude eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow gel, and lipgloss. Although it does good to draw the attention to the eyes, Alora’s attention was to her acne flaring up due to outlying stress.

‘I need to get back on the skin care.’ Alora thinks to herself. There was only 30 minutes left of the shop being open, but Alora decided tonight she will close just a little earlier. By the end of the week the renovations across the street will be done, customers may come back and more. Business will boom for a little bit. Summer is coming to an end in less than a month and soon the new plants for winter will come in bloom.

As Alora fidgets with her keys, she walks out of the bathroom and looks around her empty store. Lofi playing in the background as the sun warmly sets over the wooden shelves, complementing the succulents around. Owning a plant shop has its perks, more so if you're the owner.

Locking the front door, taking one last look across the street to see the construction men packing it up, calling in for a day.

As Alora sweeps the floor, cleaning and watering the plants that need it she decides to call her brother Erwin.

Figures. He’s still at work. Surprisingly though he calls right back.

“Hello sis? You okay?” He asks. Erwin is about 10 years older than Alora, and his protectiveness can be seen from miles away.

“Yes I’m okay, I just closed up shop for the day. I wanted to see if you were busy so we can get dinner together.”

“Ah I see. Actually that would be great. I have a coworker here that I would like you to meet. I can invite him for dinner. What do you have in mind?”

Alora thinks for a second. “How about sushi? It’s been a while since we’ve had that.”

“Sounds great I- What.. ok.. Alora I have to finish something really quickly at work. We can meet you there at 7.”

Click.

It must’ve been urgent, but at least it gives time to get freshened up. Alora walks towards the backdoor, eyeing the clock one last time.

5:45p.m.

That gives a little more than an hour to go home, get ready, and meet Erwin. The coworker is a mystery and Alora will dress to impress.
