frederick kreiburg general headcanons

a/n: many of these are informed by the canon and simply expand upon it, i don't claim these to be 100% original!

composer - frederick kreiburg 🎼

he's relatively tall, standing at around 5'11" (180 cm). he has a well educated and noble background, and carries himself gracefully.

despite his elegant appearance, he isn't so much concerned with fashion over appearing presentable to the rest of high society. he mainly keeps to his uniform he purchased for his first orchestral program.

that said, his pretty privilege does most of the heavy-lifting for him appearance-wise.

he has a slender build, but when he rolls up his sleeves you'll notice he has well-defined forearms, likely from all his years playing the piano.

he has chimerism from his twin in the womb, resulting in large patches of discoloration on his chest.

he also has a few birth marks, one on his upper arm, two on his back, and two on the shell of his left ear.

he was born and raised christian, though finds himself to be more aligned with greek mythology and polytheism.

he's tri-lingual, fluent in french, german, and english. he isn't so much passionate about language-learning, studying from a young age due to his background.

he's popular with the ladies on a technicality. one of those cases where it's more accidental than intentional. due to his looks as well as his cold yet well-mannered demeanor, he's pretty popular. despite not being interested, he leaned into this which guaranteed a majority of his success amongst high society.

he writes in a flowing script, though when composing his marks become more erratic.

he suffers from subtle motor tics due to his psychasthenia. a common one for him is frowning or grimacing, he tries to mask it frantically to keep his good reputation.

he also suffers from insomnia.

big big fan of wine and brandy. breakfast wines, champagne, and barack are his favorites.

really particular about routine and appearance- hence his refusal to get a haircut as well as the messy upkeep. he simply ties it back most of the time, but will have it styled more professionally before a big event.

he's generally more reclusive in his free time. he struggled making friends as a child because of his disorder, and generally is ill-suited to social gatherings in general due to his headaches, delusions, and dislike of talkative people.

he sometimes struggles to read the room, and remains quiet most of the time when in a group scene as a result.

loves taking walks through sculpture gardens (especially if they feature greek sculpture). he adores to listen to the melodic chirping of its songbird inhabitants.

his favorite songbird is the thrush nightingale, though it reminds him of his childhood.

bonus: his favorite flower is the blue lady orchid. he'd come across it when a wealthy family had gifted one to him from their travels.

english's pronunciation rules are absolute bullshit poopoo made up crap but one of my favorite side effects of this in written english specifically is like. altering the spelling of a word in such a way that it's technically pronounced the same. but reads very differently when your eyes go over it in written form. and that sort of dissonance between the proper spelling and the altered spelling producing the same basic sounds in your brain creates an unprecedented level of comedy.

🐲 ― Is your muse hot-headed? Do they have a short-temper? If so, what are some signs that they're getting to the boiling point.

Quite so; Because Frederick was born into the prestigious Kreiburg family and was a future promise in the world of music, he came to the world surrounded by constant attention, fame, and money; so everything that he asked for from a young age was granted to him. Because of this, Frederick didn't get to face other aspects of his personality because he didn't need to, at least, not until the time when his relatives stopped supporting him and noticed that he wasn't the aspiring musical prodigy that he was expected to be. As he moved to Paris, Frederick abruptly noticed how this life he was used to had begun to crumble into pieces; a little too quickly. To the uncertainty of his future, frustration was added; the frustration that no matter how much he actually practiced, nothing was meeting the expectations.

Lacking all of the comforts to which he had been given so naturally + the frustration he felt towards himself, all contributed to his temper altering. The current Frederick looks calm, however, he maintains a rather unstable temperament, which he either disguises very well to maintain an elegant etiquette or makes it very noticeable; in a pretty and petty obvious way. Not through violence but through exasperation. sighs or dry short responses, rolling of eyes, ignoring others; these are some ways in which he will be letting you aware that have touched the fine strings that maintain his temperament. Now, what things make you get to this point with him? Talking to him about his family, definitely. And music too; it's something extremely important and at the same time, equally as frustrating. Apart from this, someone invading his personal space, if you stare at him too much, jokes, small talk, lack of 'good taste', people who are naturally talented (out of jealousy and resentment), clumsy people, overly loud people, drumming fingers against surfaces, tapping of feet against the ground, the list goes on and on. In conclusion, it's easy to get on Frederick's nerves.

🐻 ― What are some strange sleep patterns your muse has? Do they sleep a lot, too little, not at all?

It's not really a strange thing but he moves a lot in bed out of anxiety, to this he also has a routine he follows almost like a clock before going to bed and adding to the last point, if this routine is interrupted, he might get annoyed. Despite all of this preparation he does before going to bed, it takes him quite some time to get sleepy. He just can't stop his mind from overthinking.

🦝 ― What things have your muse gotten away with? Do they get sneak away often?

Frederick can often get away with many things because of two main reasons; 1. He is a Kreiburg and 2. He is handsome. Those are two powerful tools he uses to his advantage as it is mentioned how it's thanks to his good looks that he is able to keep leading the people of high classes in Paris into believing that he is still prestigious, rich, and talented. It is pretty easy for him to switch into this rich elegant man persona.

🐙 ― Is your muse a hugger? Do they enjoy physical affection whether it's platonic or romantic?

I'm not entirely sure because he's never really been in a relationship where he genuinely loved the other person so far. He's spent quite some time mingling around in order to distract himself from his own misery but in his current state, he's grown quite tired of this quick superficial sort of gratification so by the time he came back to his apartment after those big fancy parties, it just left him feeling more lonely and miserable. He is quite distant as a form of protecting himself but If he were to fall in love genuinely and this feeling was to be shared, he would enjoy genuine affection and attention much more than what he currently believes he would.

Frederick Kreiburg is not 30s anymore

Damn I miss my favorite character but I personally don't like his new age, so I'm stepping out of the fandom and trying to progressively forget Frederick. Not only is this a hit on journalist's deduction skills, stated in AOM, but the new ages don't align with Netease's own writing. Weepy is 20 now? But he can drink demi's dovlin? in Voyage of Oceanus as Phantom sail, Frederick was supposed to take the tragedy personally because he remember it from 25 years ago- now that he's 26, it means he was a one year old 😭 Netease is tweaking. Fix your writing coz wdym Andrea is deleted. I'm so sorry but these retcons broke my immersion. Trust they'll add more characters too (and don't get me wrong, I loved the new characters, I don't think new characters are intrinsically wrong) but if you can't get any of the lore right, or the writers are fighting for their life trying to tweak this, then MAYBE pause and think about giving your existing characters a more consistent storyline and purpose to the larger lore? Maybe stop with the lab creater new hot men characters, and the trials and errors, and turning this into an idol game

Like please, I'm not even mad, I'm just baffled at the writing, I gave netease too much benefit of the doubt, but I genuinely wish they'd fix their lore and keep priorities
