I’m tired of girls trying to invalidate their own feelings during times of pain, especially to their friends. Your break up meant something. That friendship you lost was a hard blow. I understand why you feel tired this semester. Sometimes this “modern woman” stereotype is patriarchy’s last attempt; patriarchy disguised as feminism. peter pan – a teenager who ran away from an abusive home and sought sanctuary in the abandoned neverland amusement park. a schizophrenic, and without his medication, he sees a star at peak of the big top, fairies in place of lights, and on indian and pirate themed rides he sees adventures with native americans and meddling with mermaids and even goes as far as to stop all the clocks in the park ‘to make time stand still so he will never grow old’. children who ran away from similarly bad home environments and were spirited way to neverland by peter where they became known as the lost boys, and enjoy a life of fun and games in contrast to the serious and damaging homes they once knew.

the darlings – three children by the names wendy, john and michael, and their dog nana, who happen upon the park by accident and are lured in by the boy who refuses to grow up and are eventually coerced into staying with promises of adventure and a life without responsibility.

and then there is james hook – an entrepreneur who wishes to buy the land on which the amusement park is situated but whose plans are constantly ruined by the workings of peter pan and his lost boys. now determined to drive the squatting teenagers from the park with his lackeys mr. smee and gentleman starkey and is a threat to their life of careless and possibly dangerous revelry.
