dottie has insisted that she wanted the huge teddy beard hanging above the bottle ring toss booth and adaline, as always, has no other choice but to abide. however, after her 10th attempt, she has yet to even land one ring where it was supposed to. with a heavy sigh, she looked at her hopeful daughter then back at the game. " i think the game is rigged, " the brunette declared with a resigned smile before turning to the person next to her, holding out the next ring, " or maybe i'm just really hopeless at this. do you wanna give it a shot? "

there was an assortment of ice cream flavors in front of them and adaline couldn't quite pick one since her daughter was requesting for something colorful. she didn't think she would ever say this but it was way easier when dotty just wanted anything chocolate. dotty stood patiently next to her, swinging their hands together while waiting for addie to make up her mind. but considering how indecisive she can be, she couldn't settle on a flavor that she was sure dotty would love. turning to the person next to them in the queue, she offered a small, apologetic smile and asked, " do you think strawberry or cotton candy would satisfy the sweet tooth of a picky eater? or if you have any other suggestions? "

the parade has yet to start and they still had some time to wander around the grounds when something bright and colorful caught their eye. it was almost instinctive, the way dotty tugged at adaline's hand with wide-eyed excitement, pulling her toward a booth splashed in color.

like mother, like daughter it seemed.

now, adaline stood in front of the booth attentively listening to the person in charge as they explained how it works. the three-year old girl stood beside her, tiny fingers curled tightly around addie's hand. she was listening just as intently, though her understanding was probably more in tone than in words. still, her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

when he finished his little speech, addie finally broke the silence, lifting her brows slightly. " very convincing, but i just have one question. is it safe for kids? " she queried with a half-smile as her little girl donned with a love wins shirt and rainbow layered tutu skirt enthusiastically waits next to her. // @paxton-brady

"Yeah, so, it's five dollars, and we give you three to five colors of your choice, with a couple of refills if needed — just don't get greedy, we will have to cut you off."

Paxton laughs to himself about it as he straightens the signage with the QR code on it. "You also can't travel far, gotta make sure no one is going to be throwing paint at trees or people or anything even if it's non-toxic and comes off with water."

"Oh! And proceeds go to the Trevor Project. So, what do you say? Was I convincing?"

" thank you, " adaline uttered softly as she took the warm cup of coffee, setting it down carefully on the coaster to ensure it wouldn't leave a mark on the table.

leaning forward from her seat, she resumed, " oh--i was just saying how dotty will be starting pre-school soon and i haven't decided if i should enroll her or just get some private tutors, you know? i do want her to meet kids her age and make friends, but i just feel nervous about letting her out of my sight so soon. what do you think? " the brunette turned to sana, seeking her advice on the matter. // @sanabashir

Sana hands the coffee to her company sitting on the other side of the table, hoping the warm drink was enough to pay back for having company on a dreary afternoon.

"Here we go." She loved having company, hearing the tales of other peoples lives helped her brain from straying away from not so pleasant thoughts of life. It was easy when you lived alone. "Now, what were we talking about before I got up to make coffee?"

" i'd like to think i do, but i actually prefer tea nowadays, " she admitted with a soft chuckle. in the past few years, she realized she needed the calm that drinking tea and honey brings her but right now, she definitely needs something strong to keep her awake. when they mentioned the beaches, she couldn't help but agree wholeheartedly, " i definitely missed the beaches here. i'll probably be taking my little girl soon. how old is yours? maybe another time you can bring her, too. "You're right," SJ nodded in agreement. She couldn't knock it down until she tried it at least. The amount of people waiting in line hopefully meant it would be a good experience. "That definitely counts. I feel like us girlies know good coffee. I am definitely new here. It's quite a lovely town though. I am obsessed with the beach!! I live up north and our beaches could never. My oldest is mad 'cause I didn't bring her with me."

honestly, it was the only advice she could give considering she's not very handy with machines either. it's probably not even a helpful one, but it's worth a try, right? still, when they asked her if it needed a hard reset, she pursed her lips together as she admitted quietly, " i'm not really sure. i only know how to use one, but not how to fix one. i think we should call an expert-- "

glancing around the room to see if there was anyone who looked like they can actually help them, she turned back to the male. " i don't think the teenagers over there would know how to fix it either. " // @benj-hyun

“I just found it like this,” Benj sighs, still staring at the mess. “I left to get food while my clothes washed, and came back to, uh—” He pointedly waves an arm at the whole scene. “—this.”

Problem solving machines definitely isn’t Benj’s forte, and he didn’t jump into that mode when he mostly was just accepting another loss. “Of course, the’ turn it off, turn it back on’ method…” he mutters to himself, tip-toeing through the water to press the power button.

"Am I reading this right? I can't be reading this right." Monique stared at the phone with her mouth open ajar and her eyebrows pulled together. "I need a drink after that."

adaline has convinced herself that this was a good time as any to come clean to her parents about moving back to aurora bay.it has been almost two weeks since she'd returned and yet, she felt like a fugitive trying to sneak around and avoiding them like some kind of criminal. but as she walked down the familiar streets, the weight of her decision began to feel heavier. no. she can't do this. not yet. instead, she made the decision to head back to her new house and relieve the babysitter for the afternoon, at least giving herself more time before facing the inevitable.

but just as she turned around ready to leave, she heard someone calling out to her. " a what now? " she asked them with a raised brow, before hearing the quiet meow from the bushes. " are there kittens there? i don't really have anything on me right now, but i can help you carry them somewhere if you want. " she took a step closer, already kneeling down to see how many there were. helping them felt like the right thing to do, and for a moment, it distracted her from the bigger problem waiting back at home. // @missxrivera

Many of Ramsey’s days off were spent at her moms; they had been bonding more lately and since they lived close it was easy to just walk over to visit. However as soon as Ramsey was about to head up her driveway after such a visit; she heard a noise and was almost startled. “What?” She asked out loud as she followed the noise and saw a few kittens and their mom in a bush. “ oh my god “ she replied after looking at them a moment and scrambled to try to find something to catch them in so they wouldn’t be outside for too long.

After looking through her house she couldn’t seem to find anything useful. Not even a cardboard box and she walked back out to see if she could call someone for help. It was only when she heard footsteps that she was pulled from her spot next to the bushes. “ excuse me? This is gonna seem random at first but do you have a box or basket? Ideally a cat carrier would be best but I’m willing to try anything “

with a playful grin tugging on her lips, she shot eddie a teasing look, " competition? there's no competition here. how can there be when she's the only daughter of your favorite sister? " not that he has any other sister than her. nonetheless, she was sure that living closer to her cousins would also do dotty some good since she didn't really have any cousins on her father side just yet. being the first granddaughter had its perks, but it also meant addie's mother-in-law tended to hover a little too much.

adaline made her way to the kitche, checking on the roast beef in the oven. it was almost there--just a few more minutes until it would be perfect. growing up as the only girl in the family, she was pretty much the only one among her siblings who has actually taken a liking to cooking probably due to the influence of their grandmother. whenever their grandmother was around, the family only ever ate homemade dishes, not the polished meals cooked by their private chefs. there was something about those meals that had always felt warmer, more real.

turning to eddie with a small but genuine smile, she told him softly, " i don't want to be an imposition, eddie--but i really appreciate it, " she she didn't really want to trouble him, but who else could she rely on during these times if not her brother? rolling her eyes slightly at the mention of their older brother, she agreed, " nope--i can just imagine their reaction. it wouldn't even be an hour before rhys is tattling to dad and then mom would find out and you know how she gets. A light chuckle left his lips as he followed her into the home. One thing all of his nieces and nephews had in common was that they all favored him. Which was no surprises as he was the one that'd give them whatever fun things wanted, with and without the approval of their parents. It was his job to spoil, not parent them. "She better be. There's a lot of competition here with Emma and Mari." he said, referring to his other two nieces.

The aroma of the food was delightful. Clearly, Adaline had taken after their grandmother with her cooking skills. The rest of them (the boys) were completely useless in the kitchen, mostly for lack of trying. They were very spoiled growing up with plenty of house staff to makeup for their otherwise busy schedules. His grandmother was the only one to busy herself in the kitchen from time to time, making her famous Welsh cakes, cawls and other homely foods to give them a 'taste of home'.

"You don't need to thank me. What's mine is yours, love." he smiled. Eddie had always been very protective of his siblings, her especially. "Anything you need, just let me know and I'll get it for you." The man said as he followed her into the kitchen. "I don't blame you. Dad's gonna go off on one, mind, but I advice you to not tell your other brothers just yet either. You know what Rhys is like -bloody snitch, he is."

adaline hadn't expected her quiet afternoon to involve another malfunctioning washing machine. with her own washer at home out of commission, she’d resorted to google maps to find the nearest laundromat since they were running out of clothes and she could only reuse a shirt one too many times.

she arrived with a laundry basket balanced in her arms, trying to find an unoccupied machine. but just as she stepped toward what looked like an available one, she nearly slipped on an unassuming puddle spreading across the floor. addie stopped herself just in time as someone voice rang through, her eyes flicking downward before landing on the nearby machine clearly responsible for the leak.

her gaze shifted to the man standing beside it, looking a little guilty even when he tries to deny it. " have you tried switching it off? " she asked, placing the basket down on a bench. " or should we call someone out front to fix this? " // @benj-hyun

If karma wasn't satisfied in killing his home washer and drier for all of his shenanigans she definitely decided tonight was the night to drive the point home. In the way the washing machine his clothes are now stuck in, and in the way it's started leaking as of...

However many minutes ago.

Benj stepped out to get take-out in that forty-five minute window just to find his clothes are not washed, he cannot access them, and he just might be responsible for growing puddle.

"Look, it wasn't me, but don't slip," he quickly blurts before the nearest person walks through it. "I don't know how to stop it, but it was like that when I got back."

" who knows? maybe it will surprise you, " adaline offered with a soft smile as they moved closer to the front. honestly, the coffee shop was always packed, so maybe that's a testament to the quality of their coffee. at the question, addie pursed her lips a little as she tried to find a way to answer, " not exactly, but i used to live here if that counts? i'm guessing you're new in town. "I know. The one close to my order down on lock...now I gotta start from zero. I hope it's not half bad." The blonde said with a slight shrug as she looked at the brunette. "I'll take your word for it. Are you a local?" SJ asked mostly out of curiosity. While small in population, the town itself was quite big. It felt like a little hidden gem. She could see the appeal in it, aside from the beautiful beaches.

adaline softened into the hug with a quiet sigh, resting her chin against his shoulder for a brief second like she used to when they were younger. he was warm and familiar and honestly, she needed that comfort today since she's been trying not to spiral with the decision she made. pulling back, she offered him a grateful smile as she answered fondly at the thought of dotty, " well, she's been asking about her uncle eddie nonstop, so i'm sure she'll be over the moon to see you once she wakes up from her nap. "

ushering him inside, she closed the door behind him as she admitted, " we're settling in slowly, but it’s happening. the place is perfect, honestly. i can't really thank you enough for letting us stay there. " and honestly, she wouldn't have known what to do if he didn't help her out here. there was a pause before she spoke again, her fingers loosely twisting in front of her. " i haven't had the courage to reach out to mom and dad yet, though. i don't think i can face them yet. " // @eddieferguson

A big smile spread on Eddie's face upon seeing his little sister. Growing up, the two were thick as thieves. Although in the recent years that had changed a lot, especially after she married, it was nothing that he would ever hold over her.

"I was hoping to have some play time with Dotty before dinner," he said, chuckling lightly as he gave Adaline a warm hug. It was nice finally have her home again. Outside of family events and his trips to London, he rarely got to see her and his niece. "I guess I'll just have to steal her from you one of these days." he said, chuckling lightly.

"How are you guys settling in? Do you like the place?" Eddie asked. He offered her one of his best properties that was still within a good distance from their parents house - to give her time to settle before having to face them.

it's been a week since adaline has moved back to aurora bay and honestly, she's still trying to adjust to the difference in the timezone. unlike her though, her little bundle of joy seemed unaffected, able to nap at any moment without any real perception of the time--which was also a challenge for her since dotty is awake when all addie wants to do is sleep.

the brunette was busy preparing dinner when the doorbell rang, which was probably her brother eddie considering that she invited him over for dinner. after all, it was all thanks to him that she was able to easily find a place. " just a minute! " she called out even though she knew he wouldn't be able to hear her yet. quickly drying off her hands, she didn't bother removing her apron as she made her way towards the door to greet him.

with a large smile on her face as she opened it, she rambled on, " hey, you're earlier than i expected! and i know i promised you a dinner with your favorite niece, but she fell asleep just before i started on dinner. "
