They never tried to talk to us like normal people but simply put passive aggressive letters in our mailbox and when that didn't work they now have their lawyer send us letters with pictures on a regular basis.
Our older neighbors are threatening to sue us about a groundwater/gutter/sump pup setup that we inherited from the previous owner. They were friends and neighbors for decades, and it was fine with them before we showed up. We had a company redirect it while we were gone over Pesach, there was just a bad storm and now our entire front area is flooded and it's also leaking into our basement. I don't understand this animosity. They are literally complaining about water in their driveway when it is already raining. Turns out the company put a tiny hose from the sump pump loosely inside a massive gutter pipe without securing it in any way, right at the corner of our house. Of course some of the water will escape and go into the foundation of our house.

2 months into the job search and I've already done a lot of major nonos. Things everyone is like why would you ever do that. But I'm also burned out of searching. And questioning my entire self worth with every interview
Things I should've known not to do, according to everybody
- overuse the LinkedIn easy apply button, leading to losing track of applications and sometimes applying to the same place multiple times
- be too honest in interviews - "save your honest takes for after you land a job"
- share recruiters and jobs with my group that was laid off together (we all do it for each other)
- today I did what basically felt like begging a hiring manager and I know it was wrong on so many levels. After doing OKish on all her questions I basically said "I know I'm junior but I will learn anything you need me to" and this was a low, embarrassing point on this journey
I know that I'm practically radiating desperation at 2 months in. One of my lay off buddies said 2 months is nothing, wait two years until you start thinking of yourself as unhirable.
But man everything about this job search process goes so much against every honest and self deprecating bone in my body.
And it's just absolutely exhausting trying to sell myself everyday.

living in the USA rn means every news headline every day is like BREAKING NEWS: The Universal Free Puppy Plan guaranteeing every USA resident receives a free puppy has been terminated. Funds for this initiative will instead be going to the ‘GUNCH IT UP’ act, ensuring that every item on grocery store shelves now contains at least 25% coal tar

Adult social life is hosting book club, hiring cleaners to come that morning, cleaning more on top of that, finishing a whole book, making and putting out snacks and all this for 3 people I dont know very well who haven't read the book and just go into small talk. Oh and also husband takes baby out of house for this. And of course someone is making Aliya which means you'll never see them again.

MRI of a neuroscientist kissing her 2-month-old son offers a modern, unforgettable take on the classic mother-child portrait. They're curled up inside a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, surrounded by its loud beeps and bangs. Despite the noise, the baby sleeps soundly on his mom's chest, allowing for a clear image of their brains. Capturing this took several minutes, and even a millimeter of movement could blur the scan.
For some, this image highlights the delicate nature of human life; for others, it symbolizes the timeless connection between any mother and child. The contrasting brain structures-smaller, smoother, and darker in the baby-make this moment even more fascinating. [x]

Friends described living under the Trump Administration as being slowly beaten to death by a rubber chicken.
It still hurts. It's still painful. But you keep hearing a synthetic BAWWW every time it hits you as a constant reminder of how it's the stupidest possible way to die.

issue: the kittens are still trying to learn words. gus knows his name and daisy knows hers, but they don’t seem to quite grasp that when I say “babies!” im referring to both of them.
hypothesis: “babies” is too similar to “daisy” and they’re getting confused
test: start saying “gamers” instead
Outcome: they’re understanding it and it’s hysterically funny
