Today I started and completed my Dante level one certification. Over the multiple videos I learned quite a bit about its tremendous networking capabilities! I found it cool how Dante doesn’t need any external clock sources, it seems like a very efficient way to avoid jitter. It was also surprising that normal networking cables like CAT5E. It totally makes sense why wifi is rarely used for anything besides computer commands in Dante systems, due to the instability of wifi connections. I thought the star topology was a clever way to route Dante compared to a daisy-chained setup. Now I know the use of fiber cables versus normal network cables as well. It was cool to finally find out exactly what an IP address is and its purpose. It was a totally no brainer that channels need the same common sample rate to connect. I found it interesting how clock masters are, “elected” as need automatically. It also super handy how a Dante device can be directly connected to a computer. It was awesome to learn exactly how Dante works after seeing it happen in person in my live audio class.
