The Adani Group has significantly reduced its power supply to Bangladesh due to outstanding dues of $846 million, leading to a shortage of over 1,600 MW. The Adani Godda power plant, initially supplying 1,496 MW, is currently operating at half capacity, producing only 700 MW. This cutback impacts Bangladesh's energy security, with hopes for restoration once the political situation stabilizes and dues are cleared. The power purchase agreement, intended to enhance Bangladesh's energy affordability, underscores the importance of stable payments and regional cooperation amid ongoing challenges.

The Adani Godda power plant, a key project by Adani Power, supplies electricity from Jharkhand, India, to Bangladesh. Despite Bangladesh's outstanding payments exceeding $800 million, Adani Power continues uninterrupted supply, fulfilling a 25-year agreement to meet 10% of Bangladesh's peak power demand. However, financial pressures from lenders and Bangladesh's economic struggles have led Adani to request payment clearance. The project, which has enhanced India-Bangladesh relations and boosted Bangladesh's economy, faces potential disruption if dues remain unpaid, threatening future power supply.
