i think a lot of the critiques of saltburn as a movie that relies heavily on shock value are mostly just influenced by personal disgust because like. how can u watch the grave scene and say it was for shock value. the bath scene. the vampire scene. that isn't shock value that is pure, unadulterated, horrifying desire portrayed more earnestly than i have EVER seen it (albeit to an extent that fits with the extremes of oliver's character). like none of that was for shock it was for love

felix is literally performing for ollie it's CRAZY. like he leaves that bathroom door cracked open on purpose so his little toy will come watch him, he's all "friendly" kisses on the cheek knowing exactly what he's doing, he's hoarding oliver from venetia and farleigh, he's 100% about to hatefuck ollie in that maze. absolutely wild that people think felix is this totally normal guy when he's like. so deeply fucked up.

Felix controlling Oliver's outfits bc he's so marked up underneath his clothes from him. Oliver coming out of his dorm in a casual tshirt and Felix having to be like "no, no you're not wearing that, look at your arm, I can still see teeth marks. We can't have you wearing that Ollie, everyone is going to think you're easy." Oliver continuously having to wear seasonally inappropriate attire to hide how destroyed his body is becoming and Felix getting off on making Oliver wear more and more clothing to cover all the marks. Felix literally twitching in his pants when he hears people asking Oliver why he's wearing sweaters in the middle of summer and listening as Oliver stumbles over his words and starts to run out of excuses to justify why he can't wear shorts or short sleeves anymore. Oliver feeling helpless because he knows he can't just tell Felix to stop marking him in places casual clothing wont cover, that it isn't an option to ask Felix to stop.
