FMP Self Reflection
During this project I was very hyped to get my hands on the things that I enjoy doing - spray-paint and animate. The idea that I am going to combine those two things into one film made me excited throughout the entire project. I went a long way with the story of my film, and it changed many times from the beginning. However, aesthetic that I was going for kept the same. Due to a huge number of various circumstances and difficulties while planning I have lost a great amount of time that I could have spent making my film.
Initially, I was going to create the spray animation on walls in the streets. I had found a few places and was already planning everything when unfortunately, each time I had adapted to a place, my plans collapsed due to a pandemic restrictions. But during winter an offer reached me, and I was given a place to paint. My local town Youth Space Organisation asked me to paint one of their space’s walls. I have strategized my time there to not only paint the wall but do some of my animation before that as well. So, this was my first try spray-animating a wall. I had a lot of experience afterwards and learned from my mistakes.
However, after that I had to think about other places that I could continue my work. Sadly, nothing appeared and that is why I limited myself to a place that I knew I will be able to work anytime. And this place was my own room. Preparing the room was quite a challenge. I had to make sure that everyone in the house will not be affected by the hazards that can be caused by the aerosol paint. Many modifications have been made to my room to create a little studio. With the help of my parents, we have made it well ventilated and ensured that I will be working safely. When I have finished with preparing my room, half of the time given for the project has passed. That made the situation a bit stressful.
Moreover, my project required a lot of paint. I am very grateful for everyone from Middlesex University who helped me to receive a great amount of spray cans. Even though I had to wait for the package to arrive and since I wanted to give my best for this project, I tried to plan everything carefully. I have tried to spend that time polishing my character and planning each stage of my animations. When I have received the package, it was already the end of April. So as soon as the package reached my door, I immediately continued with spray animations.
Animating the wall and taking photos required a lot of concentration, I had to be very precise. As I was working alone all the time, I had to think about the camera movement, framerate, the animation itself and many more details at once. Luckily, I have managed to do it pretty well and it was only one time that I had to reshoot and repaint the scene.
At the moment I have finished all of my spray paint animations! Even though, I had to work fast, and there had been a few sleepless nights, I have managed to at least finish the very base for my film. All that is left for now is the digital animation. However, the spray animation on its own looks like it can already tell some kind of a story, even though it looks a bit more like experimental animation. But that is not enough to fulfil my initial idea for this project. I will surely continue working on it. Because this graduation film is really something that I extremely want to fully finish.
All in all, the experience that I have gained during this project is massive. It is the very first spray-paint animation that I have made, and I am very happy that I had a chance to. I am very grateful to everyone who supported me. And I am really excited of what has already been done. The excitement also gives me strength to move forward and completing my film. This will surely be one of the best films I have ever created, and hopefully not the last.

Portfolio & Showreel Self-reflection
In the beginning of the project I was having many thoughts on how I will be creating a professional portfolio and what will be the best way to present my work in such level. However, during the project while I was selecting my artwork, I have decided to create my website as a portfolio-type. Keeping that in mind I have started to create a website that is simple, appealing and easy to navigate.  That is why each description of every artwork is brief, clear and not too crowded.
I have really enjoyed creating postcards. Since I love making paintings it was nice to spend time on a still image and to take a break from my final major project animation. I have tried to create an eye-catching postcard designs, that would represent me and my personality.
After the graduation I really want to participate in animation festivals. That is why it was very useful to fill in the festival pack. Also gathering information about festivals and how to get into them. After this project I feel more confident and now I have a wider perception about everything what is related to festivals.
All in all, creating a professional Portfolio was a real challenge.

Pre-Production Reflective Statement
Graffiti was always a part of my artistic style not only while painting murals but also in animation and other creative stuff. Elements of street art could be noticed and seen in many other things that I have drawn, painted or created. Moreover, talking about films I really enjoy neo-noir and its predecessor film-noir. These are the type of genres that always catch my attention. I was always fascinated by the twisted plots in films and breath-taking detective stories. That is why I am really excited about the idea of mixing techniques between 2D and graffiti animation and making my film in a style of noir. Even though it is going to take a lot of preparation and creation process is going to be huge I still believe that it will be worth it. This project is a great opportunity to try my strength and experiment working on different scales, from paper sheets to walls of different buildings. As I enjoy not only animating but also painting murals, it will be very interesting to try the graffiti animation.
At first, I was thinking of creating a film to be very abstract but while watching old criminal, detective films, I thought of a narrative which would suit my film. Even though, it will be a lot of experimenting with animation in this project, I have still decided to put in a narrative. It will be based on noir genre films. I am thinking of creating a detective story which will include contemporary times and a young artist who is constantly picking clues and searches for an answer. The story should complement the animating style as it is going to demonstrate emotions. Because of that I am seeking to have more freedom for interpretations while painting on walls. However, there may be a chance that the story is going to change drastically in the end of the project, because of the whole journey while animating this film. As it is going to be a whole new experience to animate on huge scales.
Thinking about an artist BLU and his animations it really makes me excited to try it out myself. Hopefully, I will gain access to the buildings that I already think I could use. However, if it will not go as planned, I am also thinking of using such spaces as my own room as an animating/painting canvas. It should be fun – a lot of paint and a lot of art.
The 2D animated character in my film is inspired by Gorillaz. I think it is great how a drawn character can interact with in a real world and feel real at the same time. The connection between hand drawn wall animation and digital animation should look nice. Even though, there are still a lot of things to figure out. I assume that a lot of experiments and animation tests should lead me to what I am looking for in this project.
All in all, I still need to take a lot of time and work out the films structure, plan out the storyboard and consider the main idea of the film. On the other hand, I believe everything will come together, when I will start animating and working hard on my film. I am really looking forward to it.
