Kathleen had always been an internal thinker, an internal person all together actually. Despite her chosen profession, her encouraging her patients and anybody else who listened to talk about their problems, she’d always dealt with them herself. She’d process everything inside, even if she knew that it only led to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Probably because she hadn’t went to therapy. Do as I say not as I do. However, this wasn’t a big personal problem. Not something she had to keep to herself, work out how to deal with it and then probably fail at doing so. It was just a tox screen that was confusing her. Still, the muttering out loud was uncharacteristic. “This doesn’t make sense,” She said quietly, without even meaning to, but clear enough to be heard.

“you need a second pair of eyes?” addison said walking into the kitchen of the practice and opening the fridge, to grab her lunch out. she had been busy all morning and was finally just getting around to eat. “sometimes if it doesn’t make sense, having someone else look at it helps.”

arizona more or less threw her scrub cap on the floor after she’d lost yet another patient, the second that day. she sat on the bench in the locker room and huffed, she sometimes wondered why she still did this job. “ i really don’t want to talk about it. ” she mumbled as someone approached on her left.

addison had just come out surgery and needed to get a clean pair of scrubs, before heading into consult on a patient in the emergency room. she headed into the locker room to find frustrated arizona and nobody else around them. “i heard about your patient. i’m sorry.” the brunette said putting a hand on her friends shoulder and then took a seat next to her on the bench.

Lexie nodded and took a breath when Dr. Montgomery told her to call her Addison for the time being.  It was strange that she was getting that from more and more superiors as she advanced within her surgical career.  “Of course Addison,” Lexie replied quietly as she gave the attending a moment to look over the chart.  “Healthy mom and baby is always the goal when working OB,” she told her with a nod.  “I rounded on mom a bit ago.  She does seem a bit nervous, which is normal.”

Addison didn’t mind if the residents who were close to her called her by her first name, plus she felt like she knew more about Lexie than the brunette probably knew about her. “Exactly. I’m glad you understand that. Sounds like you’ll do good working in OB.” the brunette smiled and then flipped the pages through the chart, noting the high blood pressure. “That would make the high blood pressure make sense. We need to keep an eye on that before surgery. If you would mind checking it every hour, i’d like for it to go down. Otherwise, her vitals and the baby’s look great.”

“No Francesca, you can’t skip school, I don’t care if you don’t know anyone, you won’t know anyone if you don’t go…I’m working, go to school.” Nancy almost groaned as she hung up the call and she turned to lean on the nurses station as she opened Life360 to keep an eye on her daughter. “Kids, huh? No wonder I’m going gray.”

addison was walking by when she heard a familiar voice. once that she hadn’t heard in YEARS and one that truly, she had missed. when she had married derek, his family had become hers and when they got divorced she no longer had that anymore. “nancy! what on earth are you doing in seattle?” addison smiled as she walked over to her former sister in-law. “how are the kids? i’m sure they’re getting big now. and you look wonderful.”

On the list of services Lexie Grey wanted to work on today, OB/GYN was not at the top whatsoever.  She knew the specialty was important, it just wasn’t for her, but Dr. Montgomery had requested her.  And a resident couldn’t exactly say no to the request.  Lexie had grabbed a coffee and reviewed the chart while she waited for Addison to arrive from the practice across town.  “Good morning Dr. Montgomery!” Lexie greeted when she saw the woman coming across towards her.  Lexie extended the chart to her.  

addison had been covering more surgeries at the hospital, after she decided not to go on vacation after all. it had been keeping her busy and she needed the constant distraction in her life, after everything that had been going on the past few months. the brunette had worked with most of the residents, but just like meredith she saw promise in lexie and wanted to get to know her better as a surgeon and as a person, hopefully. “good morning, dr.grey. and please call me addison, when we’re not in the OR or in front of the interns. it’s alright. let’s see what we’ve got today, shall we?” addison smiled as she took the chart from lexie and opened it, as she took a seat. “nothing too exciting, but still gets us both into an OR and gets a baby born today safely. that’s always the main goal.”

ADDISON’S PAST

addison montgomery was born to bizzy and the captain mongtomery on october 27th 1969. she was born and raised in westport, connecticut with her older brother archer and was raised as a WASP. growing up, addison didn’t have a very loving relationship with either of her parents, they both were more into their social climbing than being actual parents. addison was never even allowed to call her parents mom and dad. growing up addison, always knew she wanted to do something with her life and help people in need. so, when she graduated from high school she moved to new york and attended columbia university. after graduating from undergad, addie went on to their medical school and that’s where she met derek shepherd, mark sloan, naomi bennett and sam bennett. during medical school and their residency’s they all became the best of friends.

addison and derek got married, so did sam and naomi. but soon after they all were done with their residency’s they slowly, drifted apart and started their own lives. being married to derek, addison couldn’t have been any happier or so she thought during that time in her life. they had just opened a new medical practice with their best friend mark and they were all doing so well. until a few years down the road, when addison and mark started having an affair behind derek’s back. it wasn’t until derek found out that everything went downhill for the once perfect couple. derek ended up leaving for seattle and addison stayed in new york contemplating what to do. addison ended up leaving new york and traveling to seattle to try and salvage what was left of her marriage. after realizing that nothing they could would fix their broken marriage and they had both fallen for someone else they got divorced.

mark and addison kept sleeping together, but eventually whatever they had together came to an end. before coming to seattle to try and get back with derek, addison ended up getting pregnant by mark. addison knew she wanted to have a family someday, but she wanted it with her husband so she decided to have an abortion and fly to seattle and try to win him back, without telling mark what happened. now, fast forward a few years later addison found out that her chances of ever getting pregnant again are very slim and regrets her choice.

ADDISON’S PRESENT

After getting divorced, Addie decided to leave her position at Seattle Grace and join her friends practice Seattle Grace Wellness Center. She need a fresh starter and even though she wasn’t leaving the seattle area, it was giving her something new to focus on. About a year after joining the practice, Addison was voted by the rest of the staff there to become Director after they started having financial difficulties. Adding that to her duties, Addison had a lot on her plate trying to keep the practice a float but she managed to pull it out of the gutter.

Addison is currently going through IVF treatments. She just started them, knowing that she isn’t getting any younger and her chances at having a baby aren’t getting any better as she get’s older but she’s not ready to give up yet. All she’s ever wanted is to have a family and she’s not ready to give up on that part of her dream yet.

She currently lives with Amelia Shepherd at her beach house.

Lizzie had been sure that the coast was clear. She’d been at the hospital on call all night and she missed her kids and husband desperately but she also really missed sleep, so in the two hours she had between surgeries, she opted to use the time to get a well deserved nap in, settling into one of the on-call room beds and waiting for sleep to take over when she heard the door open and a beam of light from the well lit hospital hallways made her open her eyes. “no.. no no no, there are like.. 4 other Dr. Shepherds in this hospital can you please be looking for them and not me right now?” she asked, not even sure who had interrupted her nap but resisting being called for anything anyway. 

daniel was exhausted himself and hated working the nightshift, knowing he’d much rather be home with his wife and two daughters. though, he knew his wife was in the same predicament he was in right now. the girls were at home with the nanny and they were both stuck at work. he had heard from one of the interns, that lizzie had snuck away and he had been determined to find her, since he had a few hours to spare until his next surgery and left the residents in charge of the emergency room. “well, does it count if i’m one of those dr.shepherds and i’m just looking for my beautiful wife?” he said softly walking over to the twin mattress and taking off his sneakers, before laying down next to her. “how’s it going?”

declan knew that he had a good point. if it hadn’t been for telling hope how he felt back in the day, he’d probably be without his own kids, too. not that he had great ambitions to have more. but he hadn’t thought about it that way. what might come if he was honest with himself? he was only thinking like this because brooke had teased him about it. maybe it was just because his options weren’t exactly vast. getting too in his own head, he rubbed his temples and leaned back in the couch with a sigh. “i probably shouldn’t be thinking about that anyway i uh- i kind of slept with hope again,” he admitted before taking a drink to soothe his soul. “how’s that working out for you?” he grinned and turned to face his brother properly. “we should set up a play date kind of deal.”

“you did what?” wes said looking at his brother and then shaking his head. it wasn’t really any of his business, but still he wanted to know what was going through his brother’s head when he decided to sleep with her again. “and why’d you do that?” he asked taking a long sip of his beer, while he tried to think of a good answer to describe how it was going between him and layn. “i don’t know, ask me again later.” wes shook it off and tried to put the thoughts in the back of his mind for now, his thoughts shifting to the mention of a playdate. “yeah, i’m sure the kids would all love that.”
