Rollers at Addplant

When it comes to types and uses of rollers, surprisingly there is more than just one type, with only one sole purpose.

As contrary to popular belief and from walking through the gates at Addplant, you’ll find several different types of rollers all designed for different uses.

Types of Rollers Available

Road rollers are machines designed to compact down the soil, gravel, asphalt, stone, and much more. Primarily used to create the sub-base layers during construction, you will mainly find rollers used within the road construction sector. Helping to create firm foundations no matter the material underfoot.

However, in some instances, road rollers will also be used on farms and even on waste sites when required.

The different types of rollers which you might find today include: –

Cylinder Rollers

A cylinder roller is one of the most popular types of rollers and also the most commonly hired. Their design is extremely straightforward, consisting of either a heavy drum or a pair of heavy drums, used to apply pressure to the designated surface.

This type of roller is perfect for smoothing tarmac, and when working with sandy soils.

Weighing between six-ten tonnes, you can increase the weight as well as inflate the tyres on newer models to reach the perfect pressure point.

Tyre rollers also work faster than cylinder rollers; however, they aren’t so great if you’re working with rough soil or rocks.

Tamping Rollers

Tamping rollers feature a studded wheel drum. Padfoot Rollers

A Padfoot roller is similar to a tamping roller but has larger studs on the wheel drum. Weighing as much as 40 tonnes this machine can still operate at speed.

Whether you’re hosting the event party of the year or organising and catering for a corporate event, your impact, and most importantly, your events impact on the environment needs to be considered very carefully.
