THE NEW BIRTH

Written By Pastor Tamuno Solomon
Memory verse John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
INTRODUCTION
John 3:1-8; 1Peterl :23;John 1 :12-13
The miracle of the new birth is the greatest of all miracles. To be born again or born of the Spirit is
the greatest thing that can happen to a man.
The miracle of the new birth is greater than the miracle
ofhaving a child aftera long delay. It is greater than miracles for healing, deliverance and prosperity.
It is greater than the miracle ofeven raising the dead.
The miracle of the new birth is the miracle that
leads to eternal life, to the kingdom of God.
A person can get healed without being free from sin.
A person can get delivered from demonic oppressions and attacks.
A person can even be raised from
the dead but without the miracle of the new birth; the person so healed delivered or raised from
death, will not be able to make heaven.
The miracle of the new birth helps to prepare one for heaven.
To believe in the deity and divinity of Christ like Nicodemus believed is good; to believe in
miracles, healing and deliverance is great, but profession alone without the composite experience
of the new birth will not take anybody to heaven.
The new birth is the cleansing reassuring work ofthe Word of God and the diligent operation of the
Spirit.
Except the double operations of the Word and the Spirit take place in a man's heart to make
him born again and qualified for heaven, he cannot see, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Religious activities or rituals cannot do it.The new birth makes an otherwise sin-laden mań to be
godly and righteous.
THE FOUNDATION OF THE NEW BIRTH
The foundation of the new birth is repentance towards God and faith towards the Lord Jesus Christ.
Theologians, preachers, denominations, religious men and women cannot change it.
We build our Christian faith on the shaky foundation when we depend on church membership, religious
duties, activities and church ordinances like infant baptism, confirnmation and the Lord's supper to take us
to heaven.
Repentance is the foundation of the new birth experience. Without repentance, there is
no way anyone can be born again.
To experience the newbirth, you need to:
1. Acknowledge your personal sins, not the sins ofanother person.Psalm 51:3
2. See those sins as God sees them; do not excuse them or portray them in good
light. Isaiah 64:6
3. Have godly sorrow for your sin as Jesus felt the pain and agony when He was nailed on the
cross for your sins. 2 Corinthians 7:10; Psalm 51:17
4. Have a heart that is set against all your past sins. 2 Timothy 2:22
5. Confess your sins to God with deep, deep sorrow of heart, 1 John 1:8-9; Romans 10:9-10
6. Turn away from them, and separate completely from every sin.Acts 3:19
7. Destroy all the objects of sin and anything connected with your past sin. Exodus 33:52;
Acts 19:19 Galatians 5:19
FAITH FOR THE NEW BIRTH
Faith is very important and indispensable for the new birth experience.
Many people don't
understand faith in Jesus Christ.
John 1:12-13; Galatians 3:26
They mistake it for faith for healing, deliverance from demonic attacks, prosperity, and
miracle.
James 2:19; John 2:23-25; Mark 3:11
The faith referred to here is the saving faith that trusts in the mercy and grace of God, faith that
trusts the Lord for Salvation.
It is important we have this kind of faith because without it, we
cannot have genuine salvation experience.
This is the kind of faith that produces in man, internal and
external moral transformation.
The faith that saves is that sure trust in God that through the
sacrifice of Christ our sins are forgiven, we are set free from sin so that it does not have power
or dominion over us any more. By it we are reconciled to God.
Romans 3:22-26; Romans 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 John 5: 11-13
FRUITS OF THE NEW BIRTH
The new birth comes with some evidence, and some fruit. It changes what you used to be, the
life you used to live, the plaçes you used to go, the dresses or clothes you used to wear, the
behaviour and character you used to manifest. The evidence is both internal and external.
INTERNAL EVIDENCE OF THE NEW BIRTH
Internally, it brings assurance of sonship and salvation in your spirit that you are a child of God.
Romans 8:15-16; Romans 5:1,5
The new birth brings joy, peace and love.
By it, the love of God shed abroad in your heart
replaces envy, jealousy, hatred, malice and vindictive spirit. It fills you with love for God and
for His people; it fills you with love for the scriptures, love for the people of God, love for
sinners and love for even your enemies.
In short, the new birth experience fills you with love
for everyone around you. However, it is our abiding in Christ that gives us continual grace to
live an overcoming life. 1 John 4:7, 12, 18-21; 1 John 3:14-16;
EXTERNALEVIDENCE OFTHE NEW BIRTH
The external evidence that you are born again is that you live a righteous life. When you are
born again you will not continue in sin.1 John 3:1-9; 1 John 5:4, 18; Romans 6:6-7,11-12,18,22
You will change from lust and worldliness. Your character, conversation and friendship will
change for good.
When you are truly born again you will forsake all sinful pleasures, desires and
start doing your restitutions, these are fruits of the new birth.
One of the evidences of the new birth is the destructions of every link to sin and
unrighteousness. That is burning of all occultic books, worldly or indecent pictures, indecent
or seductive clothing, cosmetics for make-ups, Jewries and all artificial fashion etc.
Acts19:19 "Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and
burned therm before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand
pieces ofsilver."
Numbers 33:52 "Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and
destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their
high places:"

REPENTANCE

Written By Pastor Tamuno Solomon
Memory verse: Acts.3:19 "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be
blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence ofthe Lord;"
WHAT IS REPENTANCE?
Repentance is total turning away from all known sin. It
means to stop doing evil and start doing good. To repent means radically abandoning the broad road.
It is turning around from sin and self-pleasing lifestyle unto holy living.
The sinner has to
come to Jesus Christ to be set free from sin.
To come to Christ means that the sinner turns his
back on the world and forsake all cherished sins and turns to Christ.
The sinner who comes to
Christ for salvation must forsake all sinful pleasures and worldly companions and receive
Him as Savior and Lord.
Acts 13: 19; Ezekiel 14:6; Isaiah 55:7 Luke 24:46-47.
WHY WE MUSTREPENT
1. We have to repent because the bible says "For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God;" Rom.3:23
2. BECAUSE GOD COMMANDS ALL MEN TO REPENT
Acts 17:30 "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men
everywhere to repent:"
3. IT IS NOT THE WILL OF GOD FOR ANY ONE TO PERISH
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but
is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance."
4. TO ESCAPE THE DAMINATION OF HELL FIRE
Matthew 23:33 "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation ofhell?"
Luke 13:31 tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Romans 13:2 "Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God:
and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."
5. DELIVERANCE FROM SATAN, SICKNESS AND DEATH
Ezekiel 33:11 "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of
the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil
ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" Exodus 15:26, Romans 6:16
EVIDENCE OF REPENTANCE
i. Godly Sorrow leads to Repentance:Sorrow for sins is often associated with repentance
but it is such sorrow which causes an abhorrence or hatred for sin. It leads the sinner to turn
away from sin with all his heart.2 Corithians 7:10-11; Psalm 38:18; Psalm 51:17
ii. Right Attitude Towards Sin: When the penitent manifests the proper attitudes towards
sin it is an evidence of true repentance. No sinner can be said to have repented who treats
sin with levity. Sin is exceedingly sinful.
RESTITUTION
iii. Restitution-An essential part of repentance: God requires, so far as it lies within your
power, that you make right every wrong against others. Restitution, or a straightening
up of the past, is therefore absolutely necessary to and essential part of, true
repentance.
Ezekiel 33: 14-15; Leviticus 6:2-5; Numbers 5:5-8; Matthew 5:23-24; Acts19;19; Numbers 33:52;
Luke 19:8
Until a sinner repents, he or she is outside the kingdom of God because entrance into the
kingdom requires repentance.
He must come, therefore, throwing himself upon the unfailing
mercy and love of Christ who paid the price of his redemption.
He must place his hope of
salvation on the finished work at Calvary, stand upon God's word and accept the gift of His
love and pardon.
He needs to believe in the Lord Jesus, renounce his sins by confessing them and surrendering
totally to the Lord.
The Bible has given us enough light on how to live an acceptable
life before God and make heaven ultimately.
There is no hope of salvation for anyone who
blindly follows religion without taking heed to the doctrines ofthe Bible.
There must be a definite day or time when a man has consciously decided to forsake his sins
and follows the Savior.
One must be born of the Spirit and Water.
2 Corithians 7:10, Luke 18:10-14,
Acts 2:37-39,
THE RESULTS OF REPENTANCE
1. Pardon and remission of sin, blotting out of sin. Isaiah 53:7; Pro.28:13;
Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19
2. Justification and Acceptance.John 1:12-13; Romans 8:1; Romans 5:12; Galatians 3:8;
Galatians 2:16
3. Reconciliation of sinners and Backsliders. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18: Acts 3:26; 1 Thessalonians 1:9;
2 Chronicles 7:14; Rev.2:4-5; Rev.3:19-20
4. Joy in heaven! Joy to God and Christ. Joy to the Angels and Saints in heaven! Joy in
heaven.Lukel5:7; Luke 15:10; Luke 15: 11-24

ARE YOU REALLY BORN AGAIN?

Written By Pastor Tamuno Solomon
Memory verse : Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not ofworks, lest any man should boast,"
MEANING OF SALVATION
Salvation means deliverance and reservation from evil, sin and the consequences of fall of
man. John 3:16-17
Salvation is entirely the work of God, given by grace and received by faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
We cannot atone for our own sins nor appease God by our own religious efforts.
Our punishment would have been eternal suffering in hell if our sins were not atoned for, forgiven
and blotted out by the blood of Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God
appointed and approved of
the Father, made an acceptable atonement for our salvation.
Repentance and faith are like two legs on which a man stands. Although we are saved by
grace through faith, that faith must be preceded by repentance.
This kind of faith is called
saving faith.
Romans10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead. thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
There are other kinds of faith that do not save. These include:
1. General faith this is the general believe in the existence of God. James 2:19
2. Mental belief Mark 3:11 Many people profess to believe that Jesus Christ came into
this world, was born of virgin Mary and that He is the Son of God; they recite it every
service day as part of their religious liturgy and yet live in sin. Such head knowledge
and confession does not mean that you are saved.
3. Faith in the miracle working power of Jesus Christ John 2:23-25 That you believe in
miracle, that you were healed and kept healthy by the power of the Lord
Jesus Christ does not mean on your own part that you are saved from sin.
4. Believing that miracles can be performed through you Matthew 7:21-23 this does not
mean you have saving faith.
Saving faith is preceded by genuine repentance.
Markl:14-15; Acts 20:20-21; Acts 3:19, 26;
Acts 17:30-31; Proverbs 28:13; Luke 19:5-10; Romans 5:1; Romans 10:8-10; Hebrew10:19-23. 38-39;
Ephesians 2:8; 1 John 5:11-13
BELIEVE AND FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST
Mark 1:15 “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye,
and believe the gospel."
John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on His name:"
Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall
be damned."
John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the
Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him."
John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hearers my word, and believeth on him that
sent me, hath everlasting life, and shal not come into condemnation; but is passed from
death unto life."
John 6:40 And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and
believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."
John 6:47 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."
John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow
rivers of living water."
John 11:25 "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,
though he were dead, yet shall he live:"
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I
am he, ye shall die in your sins.
SALVATION BY GRACE
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Romans 3:24 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus:"
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made Heirs according to the
hope of eternal life."
