Hey cis folks! If you’re out and about with a trans friend who shares your gender, offer to go to the bathroom with them.

In my glittering palace of privilege I didn’t even think of how anxiety-inducing it must be for my not-always-passing friend when we’re out in public for hours and they need to go pee. It wasn’t until my friend told me this that I realized there was a stop-gap solution until the world got kinder. I could go with her, even if I didn’t actually have to “go.” And she’d have backup. And if anyone caused a problem, I’d be there to use my privilege as a prototypically feminine lady to be as annoying as fucking possible and run interference while she did her business and got out.

So now, any time we meet up somewhere public, even if it’s just a quick coffee, I always ask if she wants to hit the bathroom before we leave. It’s such a little, silly, thing, but she’s said it makes a difference in her willingness to even accept invitations to go places.

Maybe your trans friend doesn’t feel the same way, but maybe they don’t feel comfortable enough to mention it and you offering would be a relief! Doesn’t hurt to ask.

i've gotten lots of comments on my 2021 art of raven as a two-spirit interpretation, here; i've continued to reflect on it as new people keep talking to me about it. i've esp thought about it in relation to how important transformation is as a concept in tsimshian culture and oral history. reflecting on the famous adaawx of him stealing the sun, i imagined the sun giving off its rainbow of light and enveloping him, and likened that to a phoenix, which are also symbols of transformation. i'm very proud of this design!

i'll be honest, it's been a weird month in an already weird year. my gf and i had a really close call in our first ever car accident a week ago. we're miraculously unhurt, but we easily could've been, badly. this and other events just have me reeling, and are humbling me. i'm grateful and lucky to still be here. lusila̱ksu - i'm building my fire inside. even when it's so, so difficult

hi, i'm transfem and ive been following you for a while but i'll stop because i'm getting less comfortable with your posting you keep reblogging stuff about transandrophobia lately, which is a term that quickly became a dogwhistle for transmisogyny. I would also like to point out that there is a gender pay gap and employment gap between trans men and trans women. that is an example of male privilege. i am not saying that trans men are evil for benefiting from male privilege, I am saying that refusing to acknowledge its existence is not very feminist. take care Roman, and talk to your sisters

I do support my sisters. I also do think that trans men face certain problems that other groups don’t face. I’m not trying to talk over trans women. I also think that a lot of times as a transmasculine person I’m not listened to when it comes to the issues I face.

I’m not interested in pitting transmasc and transfem people against each other. However I’m also not interested in shutting up about the specific issues I face as a trans man. If that makes you uncomfortable then by all means leave.
