disliking things is fine but before you waste your computer's electricity stop and consider...do you actually dislike the thing that much? really? enough that you sit around and try to find a moralistic reason to hate it?
or do you just hate the demographic that likes it? because if so just do everyone a favor and be honest.

My brother and I have this thing where sometimes we forget that we live with our parents and we’ll say “my lawyer has advised me not to finish this joke/anecdote” to stop from saying something untoward in front of them and the other day we were talking about sandwiches and fluffernutters came up and I started to say “fluffernutter? I don’t even know her!” But my dad leaned over and goes your lawyer is advising you not to finish this joke at the dinner table” and it was really funny

calling a stranger online bestie is the modern equivalent of going up to a stranger in an old tavern and calling them “my friend”

It occurs to me, looking through a bunch of DNI lists and carrds (although it has surely been observed before by others), is that what the people who make these want is not unreasonable per se. Rather, what they are asking for is unreasonable, because what they want is to not be using social media. They want to be using forums, or group chats, or instant messenger, or blogs; they want online communication spaces that are moderated, that are topic-specific, that are limited to existing/vetted members. And these this desire is not unreasonable, but it does not match modern social media.
And because so many of the people who make these seem so very young, I wonder how many of them even realize that spaces that do what they want can (and used to, and still somewhat do) exist, realize that social media can't do what they want it to, but that social media is not the only way for the internet to be.

by far the best part of grocery shopping is the little babies. i was carefully selecting mushrooms when i felt upon me a piercing gaze and looked up to see a very chubby and very red-cheeked baby staring intently at me from a grocery cart with a slightly furrowed brow, hand clutching an apple for dear life. i wiggled a mushroom at her and she gasped and kept staring. i turned back to the mushrooms and heard a shriek. i turned around and the baby stared in anticipation. i wiggled another mushroom and she shrieked again in delight. she looked down at the apple in her hand, considering it for a moment. fair-minded as she was, she decided it would only be right to wiggle produce at me in return, and she held up the apple and shook it with all her might. i think i could live forever now
