Just finished «The Blood Miracles» by Lisa McInerney, the sequel to «The Glorious Heresies», which I read a couple years ago and enjoyed a lot. The second book focuses on one of the characters from the first novel, and at first it might seem that not following the choral style from it the story and themes (disfunctional families, relationships, the ability to change one’s life course) lose a bit of strength, but the second half of the book is explosive, full of wit and talent from McInerney, who uses the criminal underworld in an Irish city and the lowlifes who run it to speak about the power of blood and the overwhelming pressure of changing our circumstances in life. Wouldn’t say it is a Must Read but certainly worth the read.
