We ignore what we really are
We ignore what we really are, because we fear to face the truth. It seems impossible for the cruelty of reality to sink in and digest in our minds. We ignore what we really are because we want to believe otherwise, or because we force ourselves to not show interest, when in reality the temptation of the truth eats us up inside. We deny and block any statement that goes against our wishes, and if it is not our opinion, it is better not to listen to it. There is nothing that human beings fear more than what they do not understand. The naked truth is often incomprehensible, to the mind, heart and soul, an objective reality seems to be harmful, but the reality is that a delusional attitude hurts and feeds more pain in the long term. We prefer uncertainty, and a biased lifestyle, and it is quite a challenge not to call daily subjective experiences our reality. When it comes to people, we ignore how they really are, because we want them to be, simply as we see them. We ignore present situations because we get stuck in the past, wishing they never move forward and change. .We ignore truths for temporary happiness. And ignoring reality seems to be an easy activity, but we cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. What we give our attention to will grow and change, so we work endlessly to have a deliberate focus on unrealistic thoughts that only feed human delusion even more.
We ignore what we really are because we find comfort in misery and denial, even knowing how harmful it is. Impossible to get out of that bubble, locked in our own illusions. The human ability to distinguish between real and fictional gradually dissolves into ignorance. We disregard facts and truths, and change them for wishes and alternative realities. We prefer instant happiness over sanity, clinging instead of progress and loneliness instead of company. Because ignoring the truth is definitely characteristic of solitude. We ignore what we really are because we fear change, and can't endure the disappearance of our conformity. Because we can´t imagine ourselves otherwise, operating differently to our mind.

Vida

Stress in High School
Why is it that I feel this way?
Tired, exhausted and done
Why should my last year of High School feel so gray?
When it should be all joy and fun.
It saddens me to think of an end
With so much wasted time
It's so hard to pretend
That I won´t miss all these friends of mine
Essays, discussions and assignments
A never ending to do list
All I feel when I finish is excitement
I know I have to persist
Less than four months left
So many emotions
A pressure in the chest
That makes me lose time´s notion
College decisions and applications
In the middle of everything
Never felt before situations
A really scary thing
Acceptance rate and grades
How will everything work out?
The waiting has felt like decades
Everyday I fear and doubt
The uniform and the elevator
Running in the halls
Nostalgia feels like a detonator
What will happen when we no longer see each other in these four walls?
Graduation is getting closer
And I can't imagine what's next
If I could, I would live it all over
Change has got me perplexed

Manifesto: We Are What We Express
Words most times are a reflection of the mind and heart. They are the act of capturing what is longed for, when the voice often does not give for more. It is a refuge, to express reality and not feel so sorry or guilty. They are oneself. Reading a work is reading the author, and having a slight taste of what he or she is in person, soul and heart.
With poetry, I consider that it is an even more personal and close contact. Thinking, feeling and writing. And on the other side, reading, understanding, envisioning. The parallels. Depth, rigorous expressions, considering alternatives and consequences, seeking a momentary escape from mental and emotional madness. Manifesto: Harmony Holiday – “Somebody who loves me” expresses what poetry is, for that poet, one perspective, of a million. A small mind trying to reflect itself, through a song and an artist, Whitney Houston, and her famous song I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Converting two arts into one, music and poetry, a greater force of expression. Releasing, finding non-existent places on this earthly plane, opening the mind to other dimensions, going through scary paths and facilitating the trajectory through embodied thoughts, balancing the analytical and the creative, providing space to listen to that voice, having a moment of personal intimacy, beyond the physical, awaken the intuition and heal.
“It’s like the first time you catch a glimpse of yourself through eyes that notice and really believe, how beautiful you are, and the way that realization cannot be shut down by doubt or tentativeness ever again, and so must be lived, the poem is that moment of enchantment and its endlessly unruly future.” (Manifesto: Harmony Holiday). The magic of appreciating writing expands to appreciate oneself, the abilities, and needs to express. It is hard work to write with courage, and when this is understood and appreciated, it all makes even more sense. Everything is suddenly better understood, and cleared than water. The tunnel between the human interior and exterior is shortened, and then we learn that we are what we express.
