Another weekend almost gone and another Family Hiking Adventure done! Our compass took us to the North Bend area of Washington where we navigated almost 12 miles of the most pot-holed road I have ever encountered to the gorgeous Otter Falls/Snoqualmie Lake trail head. 

The trial meandered along an old logging/mining road with the Taylor River rushing by on the left providing the perfect soundtrack to our day. The Boy happily trotted along picking up sticks and rocks along the way, explain how he was going to throw them into the water once we found it. Meanwhile Hubby kept pace wearing Little Sister and holding the sticks that were getting to heavy for the boy to carry. 

The Boy’s stamina is improving little by little though he still needed to be carried for most of the hike. 3 out of 7 miles I think is a great success for such little legs! We played musical child carrier and I ended up with Little Sister and Hubby end up carrying the boy (my back was so happy with this arrangement!).

At the 3.5 mile mark we found a beautiful waterfall and had our lunch while The Boy stared at the rushing water absolutely mesmerized. We made the decision to turn around her since the trial continued for another 4 miles or so and we didn’t want to torture ourselves with an even more tired toddler. 

Hiking Stats: 

7 miles total (3 of which the toddler completed by himself!)

Hiking with Mommas

Babywearing and hiking, what a fantastic combination! Hubby and I did this with The Boy and have continued with Little Sister. The difference this time around is that I am venturing out with other Mama friends without the Hubby (GASP) and packing in all the gear myself. 

Today was a spectacular 4 mile test of hiking with two kiddos and it went fantastically! The Boy hiked a little over 4 miles without any carrying from Mom, not that I could if I wanted to, a baby on the front and backpack on the back made for a loaded down Momma but it was so much fun. 

Our trail adventure took us to Wallace Falls State Park, there we hiked up to the lower falls. Along the way there was so much to keep the kiddos curious and ambling along (not to mention the incentive of jelly beans and tootsie rolls). They threw rocks into the river, marveled at all the moss along the way and even got to play in some small trail side waterfalls. 

We hiked with friends and our party included 3 mommas, a 3 year old, a 4 year old and a 6 year old (5 month old on me) and they all rocked it! I am so looking forward to more Momma only hikes with our Adventure Explorers!
