London 2017
Every year, my husband and I try to take a big vacation. He gets a month off of work (I know, wth right?) and it’s usually in March. 2014 was Quebec, 2015 was Seattle, 2016 we took a break, but 2017... 2017 was the BEST vacation I have ever taken. Since the day we met we have been planning a trip to London. We signed up for the United Mileage credit card and used it for 3 years saving all the points with London in mind. Finally, in March of 2017, we had enough points for TWO ROUNDTRIP tickets to London.
Ehem, wait a second, let me say that again, TWO FIRST-CLASS ROUNDTRIP tickets to London for FREE! Well not free if you consider the amount of sh-- we had to put on the card to get to that amount of points... Anyway, we got to LAX super early (like 5 hours before our flight) so we could play our pretend “luxury” life and take full advantage of the first-class lounge. We ate, we drank, we ate some more, reveled in the excitement of our upcoming trip and it was absolutely amazing.
I will never forget flying into London over the River Thames. We flew in just as the sun was beginning to set and let me tell you, it was something spectacular. As my inner history chick (I have a BA in History btw) nerded out over the sight of the Thames, the Tower Bridge suddenly became clear. Then I could see the Tower of London and Parliament and I nearly cried. I never thought I would make it to London, and here I was. Oh, did I mention we flew in on my birthday? HOLLA.
I unfortunately didn’t have much vacation available at work- I had just started a new job- so we managed to do London in just 4 days. It was a jam-packed, non-stop, whirlwind trip. We were starting our day by 8am, walking ALL OVER, and coming back thoroughly exhausted at 10pm. It was so worth it. As we approach the year mark (where does time go, like seriously?), I am really feeling nostalgic and still soaking in the magic that was London.
I truly, whole-heartedly, fell madly in love with that city. I felt like it was home (and I actually joke and call it the “motherland”...which actually, technically is true you know) and legitimately cried when we left the London airport. Even though we packed in just about all we possibly could during our trip (including King’s Cross station and Platform 9 3/4), my heart aches to go back. I have suddenly lost my taste for coffee (ok not really, but kinda) and taken up drinking a cuppa each day (cuppa means tea for you ‘mericans). I have become enthralled with all things British, which never really interested me before. Suddenly I’m all about the Royal Family and OMG did you watch the Crown?! Cheerio! Bloody hell! Bollocks! Brilliant!
Uhg.
I find myself feeling quite homesick for the “motherland”...

Hello!
I am new to blogging and figured- first things first! Let me introduce myself.
I was born in San Francisco and grew up in a small town right on the Bay. I moved to SoCal for college (CSUCI- it was an old mental hospital... that’s a story for another post), fully intending to move back to the Bay Area after undergrad. But, I met a guy, we moved to Downtown LA (which as anyone who lives in CA understands is cause for a HUGE identity crisis), and I fell head over heels for him and the city. We lived in DTLA for 5 awesome years, during which we made and lost friends, gained and lost family, got married, adopted a dog, then embarked on the ultimate adulting adventure- home ownership.
Bee’s adventures are both big and small. Sometimes an adventure is trying a new trend, sometimes it’s traveling to a new place, and sometimes it’s just spending the day with my little family. Follow along, you never know what adventures are waiting.
xoxo,
B.
