In a recent adventure, we headed deep into the desert on KTM’s latest 790 Adventure project bike in search of hidden motocross tracks — and this thing was quite the beast. It’s outfitted with a full suite of PowerParts mods but the real game-changer was the WP XPLOR Pro suspension. If you’ve ever dreamed of rally-level suspension on your adventure bike, this is it. The kit includes a Cone-valve fork + PDS rear shock that adds 2.7 inches of suspension travel with insane levels of bump absorption, damping control and adjustability. Whether rolling through baby head rocks or gnarly whoops, it makes it all just disappear under your wheels. After miles of whooped-out trails, bushwhacking through overgrown brush and grinding through fields of rocks, the 790 turned out to be the perfect tool for our quest. We had a great time riding with Royal Enfield at the Bear 650 Campout in Big Bear, California, on the terrain that inspired its name. This wasn’t just a ride, it was a homecoming of sorts—a celebration of “Fast” Eddie Mulder’s legendary 1960 win on a Royal Enfield 500 Fury. The Bear 650 was a blast to ride with its nimble handling and torque-laden engine, whether carving twisty canyon roads or navigating dusty trails. Along with its classic scrambler style and deep rumbling exhaust, it’s a perfect blend of nostalgia and performance that proudly carries Mulder’s fearless spirit into the present day. Look for the full story coming soon!

Many adventure riders not only use their adventure bikes for exploring trails off the beaten path, but also for getting around town or their daily commute. One jacket we’ve found to be highly adaptable for either type of riding is the REV’IT! Component 2. As part of the company’s Dirt Series, it was originally designed as an Enduro Jacket that ran an armored jersey underneath. But it also came with a set of removable CE level-1 pads in the shoulders and elbows for light-duty off-roading or riding the street. With the version 2 update, the jacket now comes prepared for an optional back protector (type RV), providing even more safety for those pavement rides. The waterproof design, along with a removable hood, are convenient when using it off the bike too. More details at: http://bit.ly/revcomp2

We used this simple GIVI Canyon soft luggage setup for a couple of different camping trips on the Moto Morini X-Cape. We loaded the camp kit in the 40L Duffle Bag, tools and spares in the 8L auxiliary bag strapped onto the Duffle, then all the quick-access essentials sat in the 6L Tank Bag. The 54-liter total capacity is about all you need for short trips and overnighters. A wallet-friendly starter setup for around $275 that’s durable and IPX5 waterproof.
