kiibolt‌:
It was certainly less difficult to blend in with others on the island than it had been within the academy. There he was sometimes considered the odd one out, due to him being robotic and not human. Even though they all possessed extraordinary skills, one’s that were just dreams to many, he still felt like the odd one out at times.
“I do agree, we came from a very extreme environment. We may be on this island together with many classmates, but the atmosphere is different.” It clearly was, and for the better. Seeing his classmates dying before their very own eyes, having to investigate crime scenes, and sentencing friends to their demise… was hard to handle. Every time Kiibo thought they would be alright, a comrade was ripped away from their arms, forever. That was his thoughts until arriving on this island. Friends were reappearing, alive, that he never imagined witnessing again. The feeling was pleasant, being able to spend normal time with them all.
Tumblr media
Kiibo just needed to try harder to become great friends with them all! Just like what Kaede said, they needed to work together, not to get off the island but to be together! He always believed that while within the academy, his inner voice always told him so. So, why not start by becoming closer to Rantaro?
“Of course!” He said very loudly, but full of pleasure his offer was accepted. “It’s difficult adjusting to a new situation, we can look for them together!” After being here for a while Kiibo was aware of a few people, so that should help a bit! “Do you know what their names are or should we go to the apartment first?” A bit eager.
“I feel as though we’re doomed to always be in some sort of extreme environment, my friend.” Rantaro responds, laughing a little. Scratching at the back of his head with the words – after all: It seemed to be the truth.
And this was from the man who didn’t even know that the only life he “KINDA” remembered was fake. “… but it is a relief that we can all just sort of… exist here, ya know?” There was a bit of GUILT at the thought. Especially because he knew that leaving was impossible, at least… from what he’d explored. Especially given his “History” and the fact that he died… was there even a possibility of him ever leaving this place? It didn’t… seem like it. And part of that took a weight of his shoulders. The responsibilities he bore on behalf of his family, and even attempting to find his lost siblings… he couldn’t do that anymore. And that relieved him, to some extent. Even if it made him feel incredibly guilty as well. “I want… to get to know you and the rest of our class this time. And… It’ll be easier when we don’t all feel… I donno, trapped?” Well, to some extent, they still were… but the freedoms that this place offered helped.
The others offer, however, helped him put those thoughts to rest.
Tumblr media
For now, it wasn’t time to worry about their “new predicament.” It was time to settle in and bunker down… Make the best of it! “Thank you, Kiibo.” Rantaro responds, grateful. “Hmm…” He lifts his hand to his face, though. Confused… Should they go try to find them? He had discovered their names prior… but… “Perhaps we should start at the apartment? I don’t want to weird them out by hunting them down individually…”

gentomologist‌:
How sad to hear, thinking he hadn’t left an impression on them… At the very least, Gonta’s glad he can provide effective reassurance. It’s been plenty of months since he’s last seen Rantaro, but as anyone can see, that hasn’t dulled how important Gonta thinks he is. Everyone who was trapped in that game is important to him, in different ways.
And most of them might have done or underwent things that leave more negative impressions, but… that doesn’t change anything for him.
Gonta gives a bright smile.
Tumblr media
“Gonta knows it’s odd… But, thank you for feeling the same way!” Even though such sentiments still feel a little undeserved to him, but it’s not as though Rantaro knows why just yet…
As soon as bugs are brought up, though, the entomologist’s face lights up. Now he’s happy the other has remembered something about him! “Gonta’s had a lot of time to adjust, so it’s okay. And there are plenty of bugs to find, everywhere you look! The perfect thing to make Gonta feel more welcome and at home. Is that… something you’re interested in too, Amami-kun?” This is also the perfect time to realize what he doesn’t know about the other. “The wildlife?”
There was just something about how the other was – Gonta was impossible to be awkward around. He was an easy-going fella, though somewhat sadder than he remembered… that smile helped. As much as Rantaro found it uncomfortable to be around his class at times, it was easier with the self-declared gentleman.
“Nah, don’t thank me for that.” Rantaro argues, laughing a little as he shakes his head. “It’s natural to be relieved… right? I’m just… so glad that everyone really is out of there now. However… well, however odd it had to have happened.”
It was difficult. It was impossible. And yeah, it didn’t negate what happened… but in the end? Everyone did get out of there. Everyone was free from that prison. That “GAME.” He was relieved. Rantaro wanted everyone to be alright. He wanted everyone to be safe… and though this island might not necessarily be safe, it was… another chance for everyone to make it out alive.
Tumblr media
Though… he couldn’t help but chuckle at how excited the other got. He really was just as he remembered! “I’m really glad to hear that, Gonta.” The green-haired youth replies, truthfully. Warmth in his tone. “Ya know what, Gonta? It is actually something I’m pretty interested in.” He admits, laughing a little. Somewhat awkwardly, as he realizes just how… bad he’d been first time around, at getting to know anyone. “I guess… first time around, I never got to tell you much about me, did I? I used to travel the world… I was always fascinated with everything. One time, I found a moth as large as my head! Isn’t that crazy? I wasn’t able to figure out what species it was though…” He admits, laughing awkwardly. “If I had my own phone, I’d show you a picture. It’s not the best photo, but I needed to try.”
Wherever Rantaro went, he’d made a point of learning everything about the area. The traditions. The life. Even the “underground” of those places. And as he explored, he got to know the flora and fauna. Wildlife was something he found himself in the middle of all the time. It’d always been something he’d found fascinating.

springstreams‌:
It likely did seem odd to ask a child caregiver that question– However, Maki wasn’t phased by it. She was willing to answer. She had been used to seeing death given her talent (the real one, that is), however, that didn’t mean she was content seeing her classmates die. No. Rather, she disliked it much like everyone else. The brunette nodded her head at the request, slightly shifting her tone of voice to a more softer one.
A child caregiver shouldn’t be so calm.
Tumblr media
“It’s fine. I’ll tell you. I can’t blame you for your curiosity. If I was in your position, I’d want to know the same thing.” A pause before listing off their deceased classmates. She didn’t have a problem listing it off, but something about uttering it aloud in this situation was different. “Well.. The first victim was you. That’s not news. Following that.. Akamatsu, Hoshi, Toujou, Yonaga, Chabashira, Shinguuji. Then.. Iruma and Gokuhara were in the fourth trial. After that.. Ouma and Momota.”
For her, the fifth trial was the most hefty. It was the one she had gotten herself involved with– It was also one that was engraved in her mind a different way than the others. Still, she couldn’t do much about it now. She didn’t necessarily regret what she did. If anything, the whole situation only made her angry.
It was a lot of names. Just merely saying it aloud reasserted that fact into the girl’s mind. “Sorry. I’m not trying to overwhelm you. I could go into details, but I doubt you want to know. It doesn’t matter now. The bottom line is– They all died. The killing game went on like this.. Trial and trial again. No matter how many times we said we’d stop it.. That never happened.”
Tumblr media
“It’s unfortunate.” The blunt truth, that was. She wondered if the information she was giving was too forceful. Rantaro didn’t know any of this– If it were Maki, she’d raise an eyebrow at it. Of course, Rantaro didn’t have to believe her. She wasn’t going to lie about this, but surely it would make sense it others did. Who knew? People like Ouma bathed themselves in lies and deception. Honestly, it irritated her.
He was grateful that she was willing to tell him. Things were confusing on this island already without knowing things pertaining to his own world… however, he did feel guilty about bothering the Ultimate Child Caregiver about it, of all people. It was simply because he’d had no luck getting this information from the others, he’d run into that he tried, despite his guilt.
He wanted to know. He… needed to know.
Tumblr media
Though, when the answer was given, he couldn’t help but allow his mouth to open slightly. Forming an “o” in surprise… so many died. So many that had wanted to leave together had become killers or victims. Part of him wanted to ask “who” did “what,” but he couldn’t form the words. “… that’s… that’s awful.” Rantaro murmurs in response, his voice dying in his throat. It hurt to hear so many of them had died. And though he was grateful to understand who was in a similar boat to himself, it still hurt.
He’d wanted to know. Needed to know. But that didn’t make it easier to hear… “No, no. Please, don’t apologize for that. I’m the one who asked.” He emphasizes, the guilt in his tone remaining. He felt awful for making her tell him – once again, not knowing her true talent, he felt like he must have been awful to ask her of all people. Yet, she was truly his last hope when it came to this answer. Everyone was hesitant to speak of those incidents. And he wouldn’t be comfortable until he understood things better… “I’m sorry to ask, but… thank you, Harukawa. I’m really… really glad you told me.”
Even if the answer made him sad – made him sick – he was glad.
Tumblr media
“Hey,” Rantaro starts again, scratching at the back of his head. An obvious shift in his tone, as he attempts a half-hearted smile at his classmate. “So… I mean, not to change topic, but… can I interest you in coming with me? Maybe to grab some coffee or something? We… Well, we never really got to get to know each other the first time around. I was hoping we could fix that a little. I mean, I’m totally cool with hanging out another time,” After what they just talked about – he certainly wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t really want to hang around him casually today. It wasn’t exactly as though talking of death was the… easiest topic on anyone. “If you’d prefer. I just… I was pretty bad at trying to get to know everyone individually the first time, ya know? And if I’m going to have another chance… I would like to get to know the rest of my class this time.”

onzoushii‌:
floatible‌:
The quiet of the room encases the two of them, sitting side-by-side in such a fashion not to bring unwarranted attention to themselves. The small talk ceases very shortly into Togami’s visit, however long it will be; fortunately for him, Cardia bought food only days before chaos struck, even if she has no necessity in the purchase or preparation of meals, she feels the habit of it keeps her on routine, keeps her normal.
Occasionally looking up despite the silence, she looks to the young man she’s befriended, who she never expected would be wrapped around in one of her blankets, his honey-like hair still wet and his clothes, hanging to dry, in the same fashion. She’s admittedly embarrassed to see him like this, although one glance at him upon arrival, and that was by far worse without argument. He is frustrated with the situation, she’s sure of that much; the best Cardia could provide is wordless support.
He looks from her to his phone from time to time, and then one telling glance and he stands, fuzzy blanket and all, to exit the room. She gave her approval already, and the doll-like girl awaits the arrival of a third person who will wait through the madness in House 159. Her curiosity is hard to contain, blue eyes watch from the hallway - she followed him, a bit further behind - as a boy about Byakuya’s own age enters the house. Without scar or mar, at that. The same was the case for the girl he is friends with too; how all of his friends are faring well even in this situation, not a clue. If they are anything like her own friends - the very ones she left behind - who are strong, talented, agile, brilliant beyond belief… then he is in safe hands.
Tumblr media
After a few moments, the girl finally appears from around the corner, observing their interaction. Togami’s concern is real, even if it’s displayed in a most indirect fashion. She smiles inwardly, without realizing it; upon first impression, one would gather he’s an icy, impersonal individual, although he’s far from it. He isn’t much different than Cardia, in more ways than one. Speaking up finally, the brunette realized she needed to speak, rather than looking strange at the two of them reuniting.“You’re… Togami’s friend? I hope you’re okay, it looks… awful out there. It’s been safe, you should be fine here if you want to wait it out with us. I’m Cardia, by the way. Oh, Togami, I could make something for you both to eat too if you want, I’m sure you’re both hungry.”
“You’d better, and you have five minutes to do it.” He’s only half joking; his focus and subsequent annoyance is at Amami’s recklessness, and the addressing of Cardia as your friend flies right over his head. Or perhaps it doesn’t – perhaps he actually feels comfortable enough to refer to her as a friend, to not deny his affection for her. It’s a strange sensation, and again he feels that jolt he had felt only minutes earlier, the cracking of his icy facade. “Of course, she’s just –”
He’s cut off by said girl entering the foyer, saving him quite a bit of hassle. Awkwardly pulling the blanket up a bit more around his shoulders to preserve some sense of dignity he faces her, a small, sheepish smile creeping onto his lips, vanishing as quickly as it had come. “Ah, there you are. Amami, this is Cardia Beckford; Cardia, this is Rantaro Amami. I assume you two will get along well; unfortunately, I don’t believe my other friend will be joining us any time soon.”
Tumblr media
With that, his thoughts turn back to Mukuro, who vanished into the night; the only texts he’s received have been from Amami, and as such he has no idea where she is or how she might be doing. But as much as he’d like to text her and ask, to see if she would want to come back here, he knows better than to; while they were certainly close she was a lone wolf, more than just the tattoo on her hand. Mukuro would return when she wanted to, if she even did; this certainly wouldn’t be the last he would hear from her, for he would make sure of that. Untrusting by his very nature, he would put his trust in her – for she was one of the few people he truly could.
Cardia’s words bring him back to House 159, away from a bloodied hellscape. He’s not hungry, but he wouldn’t want to deny Amami food – not because he is a guest, but because a normal  person would probably be famished after running across the city in a zombie apocalypse. “As long as we can keep it quiet. I don’t want to risk any of those…things bursting in here; I’ve made enough of a mess already.” Really, he doesn’t want any of them to be injured, as they were practically defenseless…but it wasn’t as though he could just come out and say that, now, could he?
@advxntum > floatible > onzoushii
The laugh that escapes his lips is, in true fashion, both exhausted and amused. “Alright. That’s fair.”
Rantaro was exhausted from his run, barely able to catch his breath since arriving, but if you think that would stop him from explaining himself, you were mistaken. He’d made the other worry, and that much was… becoming more obvious to him. He knew from the other’s messages that he’d put the other on pins and needles, the least he could do was explain…
Tumblr media
“… I needed to leave where I was at, because I was being… hunted. By myself.” Rantaro explains, frowning a little at Togami as he did. He felt… guilty for not telling him prior that he’d died, but? This was as good a time as any, it seemed. It was the only way he could explain why he’d needed to risk his neck in that fray outside. “I… I felt him, before I saw him. But, when I slipped out of my house, I know… I know I saw him. I saw… my old body. I recognize… I recognized that injury. I’ll… I’ll explain everything. I promise. But, is that at least adequate for now?” His pale jade eyes screamed guilt, but… he’d explain more if asked. However, for now? Having just run several wards over, and in front of someone he didn’t know? Didn’t seem like… the appropriate time to unload all of his burdens on the other.
However, it was with that he shifted his attention a little. Allowing the both to speak… Cardia, she’d introduced herself as. Cardia Beckford, Togami had made sure to fill in. He smiles – waving at the other in a friendly manner. Looking somewhat sheepish himself now. After all: He felt… silly to unload that sort of information in front of a stranger…
With a cough, however... he switches tone. Always a master of his expressions and tone of conversation, he wanted to greet the other happily. After all: He was excited to me a friend of his friend.
Tumblr media
“Pleased to meet you Cardia. Please, feel free to call me Rantaro.” He starts, “I’m really… grateful you let me come here. Thank you.” Rantaro greets warmly, smiling at her now. He was truly grateful that he was welcome here. Grateful that his friend Togami had been safe here and with someone else… that he wasn’t alone in all of this. “It was a bit of a crazy rush to get here… but, luckily? I’ve always had great reaction time to things. I was able to get through with just a few scratches.” Mostly dust-covered and a little scratched up from the ground, not the monsters… “Though… Since Togami doesn’t seem against it, I know I wouldn’t argue against some food. Sorry to put you through the trouble, though. Especially since I just met you.” He laughs, quietly. “Geez, I must seem like a needy sort. Remind me to repay the favor when this is all through, ‘kay?”

EVENT. Covet ✦ ( Open Starter )
To say that he was surprised to be receiving a gift… would be the understatement of the year.
From the moment the youth woke up and saw the present in his room, he’d frozen stiff. His natural paranoia screaming at him to ignore it, especially… because it’d arrived within his room while he’d had the door locked shut. He always locked his door.
And he should likely adhere to that feeling. ( Despite being a good person, Rantaro wasn’t “clean” of guilt or sins… ) Without knowing that those things would deem what would be within that box? He still couldn’t shake the feeling that it was… uncomfortable to see the present. Perhaps he should check with others and see if anyone knew what this was about? Especially... with how the last event went. What was that saying? Once bitten, twice shy?
He hadn’t even made his way to see the snow outside yet…
From his bed, Rantaro types up a quick, open ended, message:
Tumblr media
[ To ] ;; [ Whomever ]
[ TXT ] ;; ah… so? question??
[ TXT ] ;; feel free to ignore if you’d like!
[ TXT ] ;; but does anyone know what… these presents are?
[ TXT ] ;; any idea?

( starter ) ✦ @rhosynbrenhines
Eyebrows knitting with frustration, Rantaro makes his way over to her – reaching out to put himself firmly between her and the person ( a shop keeper, perhaps? The survivalist wasn’t actually sure… ) that had gained her displeasure. She hadn’t started behaving violently yet, however? His danger senses were beginning to go off. He didn’t know this woman… but she had this look in her eyes.
Like she’d faced death. Caused it.
Tumblr media
“Whatever they did, I’m sure they didn’t mean to. Can you just let it go?” Rantaro demands, firmly between the two of them now. He felt like this was likely a bad position to be in – however? His own good will couldn’t just let him… pass by this scene. “Whatever the problem, you won’t get anywhere by getting angry at them.”

thedarksacrament‌:
At first, the dark-haired man only poked his head out from around the corner to peak at his roommate. Like Rantaro, he never put much mind to it–he’d met a few of his roommates but never gotten close to them or otherwise held any meaningful thoughts towards them. Honestly, he only tended to come back to his home when he needed alone time, given that Shade lacked the need for sleep or meals. It was on that note that he was tempted to hide away back in his room again and pretend he hadn’t heard the teenager’s offer. Yet he refused to become a recluse just because he disliked most people; such types were pathetic. Even a negative interaction was better than none at all. “Depends on how good you are at cooking,” Shade commented as he walked into the room, surveying his surroundings.
For a moment, he thought the other was going to just ignore him. Which would have been fair – Rantaro was only just thinking about how awkward it must have been to be offered food by someone they’d never met before. However? It had been the only thing he could think to say to the other whom he’d never met.
It was just a chance moment. It seemed often people missed one another in this particular household. But? As far as he knew – this could be his only chance.
Tumblr media
People appeared and disappeared often on this somewhat chaotic island. For all he knew – they might never see each other again. If he was going to meet the other, this was his chance. However awkward the attempt might be. “I hear I make a pretty mean breakfast, actually.” Rantaro admits when he finally sees the other, offering a half-smile towards his roommate. An awkward gesture, but a genuine one. He was the eldest sibling of… many younger sisters. He’d gotten good at helping take care of them. “Any requests? I’m willing to give it a shot. If not, I was making French toast for myself and am more than happy to make you some.”

shslsoldier‌:
A day after work, Mukuro has accepted her payment and is taking shortcuts around to her next destination, an ammunition shop in particular. By now she’s familiar with several routes there, any mercenary ought to be familiar with such. A shout rings through the silence of an alley way. The skip of a rock and then another immediately following up in her direction, the echo of a man’s voice is enough to activate something within her to react. Twisting to her side and her dominant hand snapping out, she’s all too quick to catch it between her index and middle fingers; not that the perpetrator knew she would do so. One glance behind her and she meets the shocked look on a boy’s face; he’s seemingly human, looking far from a threat. Rather ordinary, if appearances spoke for anything, although something strikes her as odd.
Tumblr media
She really doesn’t know what to say.
As someone who generally doesn’t approach others, under normal circumstances she would ditch this alleyway and go on about her day, completely forgetting this encounter. She turns to fully look over the young man, and he’s about her own age. Perhaps it’s her paranoia speaking for her, but something is unusual about him; he’s fit, though not on her level exactly. It was the same sensation she felt from encountering other people who have survived greatly, whatever situation it may be. He has a gravity like her own, if she could put words to it. But when she speaks she is unsure of how to respond. “Uh… I think this is yours. You couldn’t hurt me with just that if you tried, but I appreciate you looking out for me, I guess.” A simple toss and the rock is flung toward his general vicinity - a test, perhaps. “So you’re kicking rocks - did someone tell you to take a hike?”
To say that he was surprised would be the understatement of the year. He rarely put himself into situations that could lead to unpredictable situations like this – he hadn’t expected another to show up, and he certainly wouldn’t have kicked the rock if he’d known someone was coming. He wouldn’t risk hurting someone else, generally speaking.
However, his expression quickly shifted from surprise/panic to something more relieved and impressed. Seeing such a quick movement, such an impressive reaction time – well, it wasn’t something he saw all the time. It was the sort of reaction he only saw from top athletes. (And though he was slow to give himself credit, he’d done similar while mountain-climbing…) A smile makes it’s way to his lips, and a relieved: “Oh thank goodness” escapes his lips. “Sorry about that, miss.”
Though surprised? He really did think it was quite cool how she’d responded like that! And, luckily… she didn’t seem angry about it ether.
However… he couldn’t shake the feeling that she was… gauging him somehow. Perhaps that was his paranoia speaking, but? “You… could say that.” He responds awkwardly, laughing a little to ease his own tension. “It’s not exactly mine though? I just sorta… found it.” And, as the other tossed it back – he simply responds. His hand snatching it out easily, though his eyes remain focused on the unique stranger. His muscle memory has always been his strongest point. Even when he didn’t actually remember his particular talent. “And… not quite so cliché. I was just… throwing a… bit of a tantrum, I’m afraid. This place- Ah, well? This island… has given me a lot to think about.”
Tumblr media
Having died prior to his arrival here? Well, it was hard not to be a little… obsessed with the details.
This was the second time he’d been brought somewhere against his will. But this was the first time he’d ever existed since death and that was… a sensation all of its own. “Kinda wish I had been told something like that. … it would be less embarrassing then admitting my own temper. Sorry, again, by the way. I’m really, really, glad you’re not hurt.”

creativxquirk‌:
"Of course not,“ Momo smiled and turned to face her friend. She had recognized his voice instantly and was pleased to have run into him. It had been quite some time since she had last talked to him and she had been curious to see how he was doing. Adjusting to the city could take some time, she herself was still adjusting.
Tumblr media
"It only makes sense it would have a rich history in a place this huge, especially with so many interesting residents. I think it would be stranger to be brought here and there to be little to no history,” she states simply.
Although, now that she thought about it she was stating something obvious and that was most definitely not what he had meant. He said he hadn’t realized and that probably simply meant he hadn’t put much thought into it.
"I’d love to. I haven’t had much of a chance to look around.“ Having spent most of her time helping with set up hadn’t left her time to look around or enjoy anything yet. It would be fun to finally have this chance to spend time with a friend and explore a little. Perhaps they could learn something new from all of this?
"So, where to, partner? Or do you just want to … wing it?” She smiled
To hear the others opinion had him bringing his hand to his face – his eyes wandering to the streets and decorations. Perhaps she had a point. This was an altogether different civilization. However, he was a little… stuck when it came to how he thought.
Perhaps it was because of the last place he’d been brought to all of a sudden. There had been no civilization there. There had only been a decaying school… “Yeah, I guess you’re right.” He admits, laughing a little. “I guess I just have… a bias about things like this. Your right. With a full culture and people who actually belong to this island… I guess it makes more sense for there to be a history. I guess I just didn’t see anything when I first tried to look at the library.” Well, he was making mental notes to check some stuff out again – some new reference guides might be in order. Though, today was not that day. Today? He’d run into his friend! He needed to actually enjoy their time.
Especially now that she’s agreed to go along with him.
Tumblr media
A bright smile takes the place of the curious expression – the young adventurer more then happy to entertain his younger friend. After all: He’d wandered through everything, but he hadn’t actually gotten a good look at anything. “Well, partner~” He starts, repeating the others affection term, while chuckling a little while offering out his arm to the other. A gesture of let me lead the way. “I think I saw some festival stands starting up down that way?” He continues, nodding his head in the proper direction. “I think we can start winging it in that direction. Plus! I donno about you, but I haven’t eaten anything today. And I know I smelt some amazing as well. How would you feel to me treating you to something as we start on our adventure?”

rosridire‌:
The secluded paths of Savior’s Respite had quickly become a favored site for the Irish Lancer, especially seeing as he’d come to prefer the quiet company of nature over his many years. Not to say he wasn’t also plenty fond of company, but the cityscape still felt somewhat foreign, despite having knowledge of the modern world. Perhaps it had something to do with the peculiar state of Spirale in general.
Regardless, it seemed he wasn’t the only wanderer on these paths today.
Tumblr media
Having heard the explorer approaching, Diarmuid ceased appraising the colorful flora to greet the other with a small nod. The man couldn’t have been over twenty, if he were to venture a guess. ❝ For the time being, it would seem, ❞ he answered in turn with a pleasant smile. Continuing, he elaborated, ❝ I’ve only recently arrived in Spirale, but I’ve done a good bit of exploring around this area. Were you looking to get somewhere in specific? ❞
Most likely the cliffs, Diarmuid couldn’t help but think. They could be a bit difficult to find given the winding trails. The flower-lined paths were a good indicator of where one needed to go, but unless one was aware of such, it was easy to get turned around. He’d only found the cliffs due to his curiosity regarding the colorful blooms.
When the other gave the affirmative to his question, a content smile makes it’s way to the young man’s lips. Good, good! He was glad to hear it – after all: He’d done very little exploring of this particular area so far, and he wasn’t entirely sure where to find this hidden local wonder. Word made it’s way around by way of the locals, those who had truly lived in the Island aside from the residents who got summoned by the eclipse. It was famous enough and easy to hear about… but no so easy to track down. If his luck was any good today, perhaps this fella would be able to lead him there. Or at least point him in the right direction.
“Sounds like we’re in the same boat, you and I. But? I suppose a lot of people just sorta… found themselves here, hmm?” What a strange place. Though, he would stop to ponder that particular line of thought another time. Right now, his restlessness was getting the better of him. Excitement shining through his pale eyes. “I guess that’s what it means to be a resident here.”
Tumblr media
However, as the elder male speaks, Rantaro nods once to affirm the other words. “You’re… not wrong.” He admits, laughing a little as he scratches at the back of his head. Amusement in the tone of his voice, especially by having a stranger able to so readily tell he was looking for something. “I am looking for somewhere actually. Apparently there is a hidden niche of the world called the Savior’s Respite? I guess you can say I’m a little… curious to see it for myself.”
Though he had had his reasons for travel – he’d always enjoyed immersing himself in the land and culture of the places he’d traveled to. And though he hadn’t intended to be here, old habits die hard.

      “Pocky day, hmm?”
Oh yes, the mystery Ultimate was very amused. He knew very well what the holiday was – such a goofy one, but? A much more light-hearted celebration then Halloween turned out to be so? He was kinda glad about the mood switch.
Tumblr media
“I sorta forgot that was coming up.” How cute. Big brother Rantaro mode activated - “Wonder how many people will use this to confess their feelings to others.”

worstultimatedetective‌:
Shuichi knew the truth. He could soothe Rantaro’s worries in a moment, or he could kill them. he had no idea how Rantaro was going to react, but he had decided in the end to keep the sword of damocles hanging. Perhaps that was even more cruel than telling him a cruel truth. Shuichi thought that investigating until the very end, keeping Kaede’s promise would lead him to the truth but the opposite had come true, he had lost sight of what was truth and what was lies. He carefully considered for a moment, and then decided on the lie he would tell. “Y-you’re right. It’s nobody’s fault, none of us asked for that… No one but the mastermind’s. We can’t be held responsible for what happened during the killing game.” He told a terrible lie to conceal a terrible truth.
It was nobody’s fault, no, it was everyone’s fault. They had all signed up for this. Rantaro’s video even said as much, that he had asked for this. Rantaro signed up for it twice, and the idea that Rantaro had survived a previous killing game and chosen hope hoping they would find an exit in the next killing game only to die in the first round had fueled Shuichi’s sadness but he could not tell that to the other boy. He wondered if those tears were a lie too… crcodile tears like Shuichi, or if those tears were his true emotions spilling out.
Tumblr media
Finally, he managed to wipe his face and face the other boy. He heistated for a moment though, his fingers moving to cover his mouth as he thought again. Just as he felt like he might become lost though, his free hand was taken by the other boy. He wondered… why was it his always his hand, his pale and trembling hand that was afraid to reach out to others, somehow always was takn by such kind people.  “Y-yeah…” He choked out his last sob, before swallowing down everything else. “We’re not there anymore. This place is different, things can be different this time. Can you… tell me a little about yourself? I talked to the others a lot but I never got a chance to talk with you, maybe… I saw you talk with her in your free time she was a lot more outgoing than I was the first few days. I… I’m a detective you know, even if I’m a half baked one I could listen and try to help you figure it out.”
He took a deep breath trying to settle himself. He wanted to be strong on his own but the truth was he could only ever be strong for the sake of others. Perhaps, if Kaede had been the protagonist instead of him, if she had learned the secrets he had, she would know what to do in this moment. She would face the truth unerringly, or she would become a support to Rantaro and inspire him not to think so little of himself. However, Shuichi could not become Rantaro’s support, he only ended up being supported by him. He wondered why the decision had made to make him such a weak protagonist, but… Rantaro apparently did not hate him, so he would try not to hate his own weakness too much.
After he gathered himself, he spoke in a much calmer way. His lips twitched as he smiled with fondness, and his fingers curled around Rantaro’s. “To tell you the truth, I’m the kind of person who always overthinks things and is filled with regret for everything I couldn’t do… but, you know there was a girl who took my hands just like you did and told me she believed in me, and I promised her in that moment I’d face the truth. So, even if I do come to know the truth about you, even if it’s not a good thing… I won’t regret it.”
As the other was finally beginning to calm down some, Rantaro just allows him to talk. Uninterrupted. It was… interesting. Running into everyone again after death. Having all these strange conversations after the fact. Having everyone… come together again.
Though paranoia still prevented him from reaching out too much, he was grateful to see them all again. And despite being worried about his own past – his own abilities – and everything else? Even then, he was grateful to find the others. To see them again. To see that they were alright. (In the end, even if he found out who killed him… he wasn’t sure he’d be able to hate them ether. He wasn’t a hateful person at heart, just a cautious one.) So? Despite his negativity, there was a genuine spark of hope in him too. Because, regardless of how things ended? Everyone had a chance to genuinely be okay here. Safe.
“Things can be different.” He repeats the other’s words back to him – to emphasize that he agreed with the notion. It really could be genuinely different this time. Everything could be. Perhaps this time… he could open up some. Perhaps this time he didn’t have to be scared of everything. Of himself. Of the environment. “I really thing things will be different this time. I believe in us all.”
Tumblr media
Though, the others request… Rantaro smiles a little. The Detective wasn’t wrong. Rantaro had kept to himself previously, it was fair of him to ask. “Sure. I can tell you a bit. But it’s not a very interesting story, just warning ya.” He answers, laughing light-heartedly. He wasn’t good at opening up to others – he’d had trust issues for many years after he’d lost all of his sisters. But? The biggest trust issue he had? Came down to his distrust of himself. When he got comfortable around people – he lost them. But… was that a problem here? He hoped… not. “It’s… hard to give a full story given my current… state of mind? You know, since I can’t remember everything.” A joke – the truth, but spoken lightly. It was terrifying to not remember everything, but? He’d always had a talent for making light of difficult situations.
Rantaro wasn’t sure if it was a gift or a curse of a coping mechanism. But? It was how he was – and it wasn’t about to change anytime soon.
The elder boy smiles a little though, when the smaller youth offers a smile of his own. Good. He was relaxing some – for a moment, Rantaro opens his mouth to speak again – only to stop. Listening to the other’s continued speech with a moment of confusion in his eyes… however? His eyes soften some then and he squeezes the other’s hand back lightly. Reassuringly.
… somehow? His heart felt a little lighter then. Having the other admit some of his own insecurities… it helped. But? Far moreso? “Thanks, Shuichi.” Rantaro responds – truly grateful for the others comment. That he wouldn’t regret it… even if the truth was something awful? Rantaro was… grateful that the other wouldn’t turn his back on him for it. When the young man barely knew who he was – when he didn’t even know his ability – it was absolutely horrifying to open up to others. What it might bring back of his memories, what it might bright up… if his ability was something awful, he’d often wondered if it was something he’d want to know. After all: What if it was only something painful. Awful. What if… it was something like he’d already wondered? UNLUCKY. USELESS BROTHER. Etc. It could be something painful. Awful. It could even be something dangerous – harmful. Cruel. The fact that his ability could be something that could turn others against him… was not something that was lost on him. So? To hear the others response… it lifted a slight weight over him. The fear was still there. But? At least… he knew he wouldn’t face it alone. “I’m… really glad to hear that.”
Tumblr media
A deep breath is taken then – calming himself a little before he breaths out the words: “So, sure.” He continues, smiling a little. “I can do that for you. I can tell you a bit about myself – since you’re willing to deal with the consequences with me. So? Where would you like me to start, detective?”

✝ : there’s only a few people who left a lasting impression on korekiyo within those walls. two of them, he had already come to see here. two people who listened to him, and intrigued him with their values. one who would make a perfect friend for nee-san, and the other someone he wished to travel with. but, there was one other person within that handful of students that he wished to see once more. someone who didn’t look at him like he had twenty heads, someone who seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say, someone he felt a deep connection to with not much reason. it was the aura he felt from him that he felt connected to. there was things he wanted to know.
yet, of course, death would pry that curiosity from him. there would be no time to learn more when he was the first to go. there was a bitter feeling within him for missing that opportunity, but more so because once again, death would make things difficult for him. he was who he looked forward to see the most here. there would finally be a chance to dissect and observe.
Tumblr media
although his face remained expressionless, his eyes seemed to light up.
“amami-kun. certainly i remember you… your presence here is not one i would expect, but i thought the same with akamatsu-san… kukuku, it is pleasant to see you again. you would be wrong in assuming you did not leave an impression. fate has given me a second chance– given you a second chance. i am most excited.”
When the other so quickly remembered who he was, he couldn’t help but laugh a little. Smiling ever-so-slightly at the response. Oh? So he had managed to leave some sort of lasting impression, had he? Honestly, the mystery Ultimate was a little surprised about that. He hadn’t exactly had a long time to get to know each of his classmates individually – so he was certain he would have been relatively easy to forget.
“To be fair, it’s hard to expect a deadman.” Rantaro responds. Deciding to just drag out the skeleton in the closet from the get go – why beat around the bush? Everyone who had been there knew he’d died.
Tumblr media
He had been the first to go, after all. “But… I’m glad you remember me, Shinguji-kun. I’m really glad to see you again too.” He was surprised – but he was flattered. Honestly? It was actually quite surprising to him just how many of his classmates appeared to know exactly who he was, despite how little a time he’d spent there. Despite how little he’d gotten to know each of them. But? He was grateful to have not been forgotten. “Ah! You’ve run into Kaede then, too? I know I ran into her when I first arrived… I need to talk to her some more. Actually? I just… need to collectively talk to the class some more. I guess I’ve just been overwhelmed with everything, ya know?”
. . . a second chance, hmm? He liked the sound of that. But he would keep that to himself. After all: He hadn’t often thought of this place like that - being mostly baffled at having been brought back to life once again.

creativxquirk‌:
Momo was too exhausted to bother correcting him at the moment and it’s not like he would have known that she hadn’t volunteered on the third day. It hadn’t exactly come up in conversation when they had met the other day.
Tumblr media
Leaning on her salvaged pole she took a moment to catch her breath. She finally had a moment to breathe and Rantaro would notice if anything tried to sneak up on them. Finally having caught her breath she took a moment to look him over. As far as she could see he was unharmed only looking a little tired and given how much running he probably just got done doing that was to be expected.
"I’m glad you’re okay,“ she managed a smile.
"You should have stayed safe.” Momo would have lectured him more, but neither of them particularly needed to waste time on such things.
"That’s probably best, the longer we remain out in the open the more likely we are to get caught.“
Ah, yes … her bite. She did need to get it cleaned and wrapped up so she could keep it from getting infected. If they could stop somewhere briefly to get that taken care of …
Momo took a moment to look around at the buildings around them before deciding on one that looked to be the safest. Well, it appeared to be at the moment. So she motioned for Rantaro to follow leading him into the small building.
Tumblr media
"We should be safe to take a moment here. If you don’t mind I could definitely use your help with this,” she motioned to her bite. There was no way she would be able to wrap it up without him or someone and since Rantaro was here and she trusted him not to do anything weird he was a perfect choice.
"I’ll make a roll of bandages.“ She focused on what she needed her hand starting to glow. It took only moments and Momo grasped what appeared to be a perfectly normal roll of bandages. Smiling she held it out to Rantaro.
"Here, you should be able to use this to wrap it up once we get it cleaned.”
“You don’t need to worry about me. I know how to handle myself.” Rantaro replies with a soft smile – trying to reassure the other. He wasn’t lying. When it came to self-defense he was fairly adequate at least. He didn’t take unnecessary risks and didn’t go out of his way while on his run. “I-I… I didn’t take any unnecessary risks. My only goal was making it here. I wanted… to be sure that you were alright. But, yes. That’s fine. We can hide out of sight for now.”
Especially with that injury. The green-haired youth wanted to make sure that she was going to be alright – being bit by those things certainly couldn’t have felt great. He wanted to make sure she’d be alright. And? He was actually fairly decent at basic emergency first aid.
Someone should clean out that injury. And if he could find something to cover it with – that would be even better. He didn’t want her to get an infection in her injury.
And? As she began to lead him – the adventurer simply follows. Falling silent and falling into step behind her, so that he wouldn’t cause any trouble. Watching his footsteps so that he didn’t step on anything that might cause trouble. He didn’t want to make noise or cause enemies to find them as they leave – especially when they needed a moment of peace so that he could help clean out her injury. “… sounds good. I don’t see anyone around. And I don’t hear any of those… well… things.” Honestly? He still didn’t understand how so many of those undead creatures had arrived – where they’d come from. Why they had arrived here –
Tumblr media
      Wait.
Make bandages? Confusion lights his eyes as he looks over at Momo – what did she mean by that? However, when her hand begins to glow and she hands him a roll of bandages, his jaw drops. Taking the offered bandages carefully in his hand – she’d… made this?
“A-Ah… alright. Yeah. This… This’ll work. I have some clean water I can use to help clean it out. I don’t have medicine for it. But… I do have some rubbing alcohol. I tend to carry some emergency supplies with me… so? It’ll burn. But it should help.” He wouldn’t ask about her trick just yet. Not until she was safe and he’d helped wrap up her injury. He’d only known her for so long – but he’d already started thinking of her as a friend of his. And the fact that she was injured was more important than the fact… that apparently, she could make things out of… ah… well… as far as he could tell? Thin air. But Rantaro would ask more about that once he knew she was going to be okay. “Can you turn your back to me? And then I’m going to have to ask you to let me see your shoulder, ‘kay?” Given how tricky this area was to clean and wrap, he figured it would just be easier to ask her to turn.

The minutes seem to pass as though they’re coated in molasses, trudging on for hours. Small talk with Cardia is attempted but quickly fades into the silence; he’s much too anxious, too annoyed to carry on a conversation. Thankfully she realizes this and lends him silent support instead, a sentiment he’ll need as his phone vibrates and notifications pop onto the screen.
Well, it’s a miracle Amami isn’t dead yet, but just because he’s avoided the monsters for half the journey doesn’t mean the second half won’t be dangerous. Promises are made and rarely kept; his skepticism isn’t unfounded, as both the business world and high school are filled with empty words, lies both white and black. And yet, again he has no choice but to wait, to put his trust in him; it’s simply infuriating, this feeling of powerlessness. However, there truly is nothing he can do: going out to find him is a foolish death wish, a thought that doesn’t even cross his mind. If anyone’s going to die here tonight, it isn’t going to be Byakuya Togami – as selfish as that may be, one death is better than one death and another needless one.
Tumblr media
[txt] I still think you’re making a mistake…but of course I’m going to let you in.
[txt] Just know that if you do die, it’s your own fault.
Actions have consequences, he thinks as he hits send. Harsh, yet truthful; it’s the only way he knows to express his affection, chiding and lecturing those he cares about in the hopes of guiding them towards the same perfection he himself possesses. Of course, impatient as he may be, he knows that perfection is carefully forged, a painstaking process: it’s taken him years to reach this point, though if you were to ask him he’d claim that he was born perfection. It’s all a bluff, all of it – that shy boy from nearly ten years ago before the competition certainly wasn’t perfect, and truthfully…the one sitting here right now isn’t either. But he’s as close to perfection as can be – he has to be.
Silence is broken by a light knocking at the door, and with a glance and a nod at Cardia he gets up and nearly tiptoes to the entrance, blanket still wrapped around him (as of course he isn’t going to let Amami see him in nothing but his boxers). With a deep breath he opens the door, slowly turning the handle; it’s opened just enough that the boy can slide through and closed immediately afterwards, locked and bolted as though gears and metal would be enough to keep zombies and ghosts out. “I don’t know how you made it here in one piece, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me,” he sighs, shaking his head; “Now come in and sit down, but be quiet about it.”
As soon as he slides into the open door, he half-collapses. Exhaustion and stress finally piling up enough to cause him to simply give in. It had been an adventure and a half – and frankly, even he wasn’t sure how he had made it here in one piece. There had been enough dangers. There had been enough things going on. Even seeing some of the things he did… that should have been enough to make him call it quits. And yet? He’d made it. He’d steeled himself and did what he’d felt he needed to do. Making it to where his friend was hiding out.
A smile plays at his lips then, as he looks up at the other from his position on the floor. He felt weak and absolutely drained. But he was grateful to see the other.
SOMEHOW, he felt he was safe here. The bad feeling he’d had evaporating… at least, for now. “It’s a bit of a wild story. But, if you want it, yeah. I’ll explain.” With that, he gathers himself together… Lifting himself to his feet (swaying a little as he did – exhaustion still clear in his actions) and doing as instructed. Coming in a bit further into the building and attempting to be fairly quiet as he did so. The last thing he wanted to do was cause enough of a scene that he brought trouble to them here, now that he’d made his way.
Tumblr media
He’d apologize later. He wanted to talk to Togami one-on-one if he was going to apologize for his actions – and explain them – however? Being the guest of a new building? It was probably about time he met the person whose home he was intruding upon.
“… but before that, may I ask to meet your friend? I believe you said you were bunkering down with others, right?” Rantaro asks, offering a half-hearted smile at the other. He was excited to meet anyone else that the other would consider a friend – after all: Togami was one of few people he’d met on the island whom he’d become quite used to visiting. One of few he’d met here, that he would consider a friend. So? If the other had other friends here – a friend of a friend, is my friend. That was the sort of laid-back mindset that was always how the youth worked.

kiibolt‌:
He still felt a bit uncertain about how to continue on the conversation. Kiibo was truly happy to see the classmate alive and walking, but he just was unsure how to speak to him. This was probably not the time to ask what he remembered, what his last memories were before appearing here. That was a conversation for another time, definitely.
Tumblr media
“There are a lot of new people here, they’re very different from people I’ve met in the past.” That was kind of an understatement. The things that he has seen on this island, many would not believe him if he told them. Strange things really do happen. Well, some would say he’s the strange thing, but that’s just being robophobic!
“I’ve been fine here, do you need help finding your roommates? I could help you if you’d like.”
Rantaro offers a slight smile at the others comment – that was the truth. There were a lot of new people here. Perhaps he only felt that way in particular because of the situation he’d found himself in, just before coming here. You know: Being imprisoned with only a handful of people. It was odd to find himself in a city again – let alone surrounded by strangers. But? Perhaps the strangest part of it was the fact that they were still trapped again.
And for the mystery-youth? Who knew he’d died prior to coming here. “Well, I certainly hope they’re different in a good way.” The green-haired youth offers, smiling a little. He knew Kiibo had had some problems with… several classmates of theirs prior. So? He hoped the island offered a bit more of a comfort… “We’ve certainly had enough crazy in our lives to match several lifetimes, I think. The crazy quota has been met. But… you know, some different? Isn’t so bad.” Like coming back from the dead. It wasn’t bad – in fact? It gave him the chance to look for his family once more. He’d failed prior. This time, he had a chance…
Tumblr media
Though, he does wonder briefly if it’d be rude to ask Kiibo if he’d had a chance to met the NETPUP’s yet – the half robotic dogs in one of the other wards. Would it be rude to assume the other would want to?? He wouldn’t mention it for now. But? He was glad to know the other would actually be able to blend in a bit around here.
… he truly did feel bad that when they’d first met he’d been unable to help the other cope with some of the mistreatment he’d gotten from others. (A particular purple-haired youth comes to mind…) Rantaro had been busy with the mystery of the place, and his stress level had been to high – perhaps this place would offer him a chance to do better. And to get to know him better. “Would you?” Rantaro asks, sighing out a little in relief. “I’ve just… I get a little paranoid, I suppose. It’s difficult for me to try to live with people I haven’t yet met, and I haven’t had much luck finding them…” If things continued this way, he’d likely live in his room. Very much behind a locked door.
