WHO: @nikhilmehra WHERE: Merrock Hospital. WHEN: Week of the June 8th.
"I need to speak with Dr. Mehra." Of course, Adya doesn't look at them only to the nurse had been charting in the room that Nik was. In the measured way it was said, Adya is holding back any of the malice she feels towards him and their situation for when either they're alone or not at the workplace at all. If that were to happen ever again. That's what made this situation so difficult. On professional level, there were not many people she respected more. On a personal level? Nurse Kwog leaves and Adya gives her an apologetic smile, noting mentally to get her some sort of gift card or something sweet for the next time she sees her. "It's about my patient that keeps coming in. You and I both know this is not the behavior of a drug seeker no matter how much my Attending thinks it so. He's being an ass and --" The realization that the personal familiarity slips into the conversation automatically. Though, they'd been coworkers, Nik had been her favorite and coworker bestie -- as some would say. "She's one flag away from not being able to be taken seriously in all of Maine and I'd really like to get her admitted and some proper testing done. Her insurance is ONLY letting the tests I know she needs done with reasonable cause, which, a hospital admission would be. If you could talk to my Attending and let him know that we've at least discussed this in detail over the past few months -- I think he'd listen to you over me." Translation: Dr. Kovak was an asshole misogynist that neither of them actually liked but listened to Nikhil more than them. He may not have meant to be harmful but he was ignorant, which was deadly in medicine. Adya wants to sit down then, a wave of exhaustion coming over them, but instead steadies themself against the door finally casting a look over Nik after having paced & explained themselves in front of them. "Any patterns you've noticed lately?" The apple comes out of her pocket almost comically -- but an apple a day did keep the Doctor AWAY afterall.

Fair as there came a time when everyone felt inclined to throw their bump it out the window. That makes more sense that she entered it anonymously. Oh, it would definitely be the highest form of flattery but I'd spiral wondering why I didn't look enough like myself to win a contest that was simply me showing up as myself. Not even a twin. Or a CLONE.
Tumblr media
Maybe we should. Hey, I wouldn’t say no to that! Oh yes. I think I lost mine after it got stuck in my hair one night and I threw it out my window. I think the story was she entered it anonymously. But she’s awesome. And drag queens are awesome! So if it were me, that would be the highest form of flattery I even got to be famous enough that drag queens wanna be me.

"Ha, I do. What did your mum try to dress you in? What kind of color? My parents were ones to entertain the idea and loved any excuse to have us LOOK like a familial unit." Which was why Adya loved to rub it in their faces now. "But yes...I think we SHOULD submit him for the new movie with that spot open. I just feel like he'd actually get in if we submitted it. Should we bring this idea to him? Or do you think he may be too Merrock loyal to go into the big leagues?"
Tumblr media
"Torture for your family? Are they against -- oh you mean the whole 'family vacation everyone matches' thing, right? That is a hard no for me. Mom tried that once when I was young, wasn't amused. He'd make a great cast member for the new movie coming out. Maybe we should submit him for the movie, they're doing a whole spot for a fan. Slip in a submission for a capitol character and he's finding his real dreams out in Hollywood."

Tubi doing original shows is really breaking my brain a bit. I remember when the hospital used to have us use them as an alternative to Hulu and Netflix because they were free. Does that mean Tubi is going to start charging now? I think Tubi would take our show easily. We need a name that's going to be quippy and catchy, a play on words. Merry Merrock Murdercult? Meroccult? That sounds like a MERMAID cult. Hm. See, the only creative bone in my body dances and moves. It does not think or write. We may need to outsource for a name.
Tumblr media
You call Netflix, I'll call Hulu. If neither of them bite, we have other options, right? Tubi does original shows now, I'm pretty sure! We're going to make this happen, one way or another. It has to, because that's going to be the big hook that makes people tune in, since they're so fascinated with the Benefactor… hmm. Needs to be a really catchy name, too. Any suggestions?

At that line, the pomp and circumstance of the previous commentary dissipated, god, Adya was grateful that Aisha lived with someone like Darrius. "Yeah well, you could do with being a little bit more mean, so. Line stealing approved." At his question she genuinely wonders what would happen in that situation -- there's an obvious thought that the sisters would go against each other even if just for fun. "Depending on what time of year it is, I'd maybe just let Aisha have it. But if it's Christmas then it's a Christmas miracle, two sisters eating ALL the ice cream in Merrock against all odds." The grin that had been creeping onto her face, blooms in sincerity as she smiles at Darrius. "She barely blinks at this point. Sometimes I'll send something like that to our mum and you'd think she never even changed my diapers or taught me to potty train. I deal with gross things everyday at work so to me a little shit talk is nothing. Even and especially when I'm eating." An exaggerated lick is taken from the ice cream cone once again.
Tumblr media
"Where do you think I got it from?" he asked with a wide grin. He might have picked it up from hanging out with her, he did see her often enough, living with her sister and all. Seemed to make sense that something would brush off on him. "The only question I have is if you would end up challenging the ice cream place, or challenge each other," because he could see that, too. Although it might end up being a double whammy, with the creamery putting out as much ice cream as possible to satisfy their needs. "Does she even like… blink when she receives a text like that?" he asked, taking his ice cream to one of the nearby tables and dropping down to sit, nudging out the chair to make room for Adya. "Or is she so used to it that she just goes on with her day?"

"Thank you, Jordyn Carrington! Bless you, Jordyn Carrington! Even if Old Navy wasn't expensive, a good enough gift card could get you enough underwear to go to sea for a whole year." An exaggeration maybe but she knew she was in good company with Jordyn. "My da's not a Home Depot guy but you know, we could also be getting him a present he could give someone else. Which is a present in itself. Not having to think of a present." Now Adya was grasping for straws and she knew it. "Or you could. I've long since imagined that I'll EVER have my moment in the club, locking eyes with a sexy stranger with undeniable chemistry. Besides, are you not my hot date? Are we not the hot people who have the time of their lives with each other? Was what we had never real, Jordyn? We deserve this after the hell our work's put us through."
Tumblr media
“Old navy is expensive though, I would want a gift card.” She frowned. She was the type of person that absolutely thought of gift cards as a gift. It was not only in the name but it still showed appreciation. “Not every man is a Home Depot kind of guy.” She knew most were but didn’t guys have other hobbies! “Sometimes…both.” It was quick to get when she didn’t have the time or energy to really look for a gift. “You never know, you could meet someone hot and have the time of your life.”

Usually, Adya would've advised against her sister having an iced coffee bigger than her head but at this moment it was akin to doctor's orders. "You're right, we're much more dignified, put together and on time. I think we're early, actually." It was said matter of factly, as if they were a month ahead of schedule and not a full week. Maybe not even a full week when they were well into the day already. "You never know, he may have gotten one once we both moved here as celebration. The older they've gotten, the more eccentric their parties have gotten to compensate for their empty nest." Taking the picture, Adya hands the phone back to Aisha. Unbeknownst, she'd forgotten to press the arrow that would've actually sent the picture to their Mum. Another large sip from her own comically large iced coffee with extra shots of espresso do nothing to perk her up. "This hangover is one of the more worth it ones. That was the most fun I've had in a long while. Even Uni couldn't hold a candle to doing a body shot off a Richard Starr lookalike."
Tumblr media
Briefly considering rescheduling plans that morning, Aisha thought better of it. Adya's and her schedule were ever-changing, so she wasn't sure they could muster up a day before the holiday. With a comically large iced coffee keeping her awake after coming home in the late hours, she glanced in her sister's direction. "Hell would be the weekend before the holiday, getting judgy looks from vendors and dodging last-minute shoppers, we're far from that," not by much, but it was something bright to focus on as she pulled out her phone. "Here, try mine. Not sure we need a third opinion from Mum, though. I'm sure he doesn't have a personalized charcuterie board in the shape of Maine." trying to hide the giggle as her eyes flitted to the table of wooden crafts.

The grin on his face now matches hers as she takes the stickers. "Well, I'll have you know they're not just going into my pocket but there's quite a few patients I know and Doctor's, EMT's, all the like, that'll LOVE these. I'll make sure more than just me comes back." As they stuff them into their purse ( gently, of course, to make sure to keep them in the best condition as possible ), they continue. "I can be easily bribed so just know that I'll also be writing a Google review of the library. What's your name? Just so I can make sure you get recognition." Nodding along to the recommendations as they're written down, Adya notes that his handwriting is nice too. Something not often seen in her line of work. Taking the book, she inspects it as she talks again. "I read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. But the movie was much funnier and better done than the book. I grew up with the movie Bride and Prejudice and was awfully disappointed that when I was old enough to read the book and understand it, it wasn't the exact same. I don't think anything'll beat this concept of Austen's, quite honestly. There's a reason it's a classic that so many people adore and imitate. Why there's so many variations of it. Did you ever watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries on Youtube?"
Tumblr media
Oliver watched with a grin. At the offer of ten dollars, he shook his head laughing. “If you want it, it’s yours,” he said. “Really!” He laughed a bit more. He pulled out another box to look for the one he wanted. “Consider it a gift. And a bribe to come back and visit the library this summer,” he grinned more. “We manage, but that is also why we love it when people come back.” He nodded, listening to them describe the type of book they wanted. “It’s hard to reach the tier Evelyn Hugo was in,” he agreed. “But if you want something with those themes, I’ve got a few to choose from…” he said, picking up his clipboard and jotting down a few notes, before grabbing one of the books towards the back of the table. “Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Jane Austen novel,” he smiled. “This one is a bit of a twist of that story. There are a lot more similar ones in that sort of realm of things,” he nodded, handing her a book. “Most Ardently. Pride and Prejudice sort of retold.”

"You know...you're RIGHT. I don't say that often or honestly. It wouldn't be Pride without a fashion faux paus. In fact, dare I say, I think Richard Starr is the most Prideful of us all. I hadn't thought of it that way in the slightest and now I fear you've taught me more about Richard Starr than I ever could hope to pick up on."
Tumblr media
"We may never know. I mean, it was definitely a choice either way. At the end of the day, we all look great until we look gross. Is it really pride without a fashion faux paus anyways?"

"How much would you pay, TRUTHFULLY? Maybe we could get a prize pot going, something. Whoever can get video evidence of Dick Starr at Vibrations gets the whole thing?" A wiggle of their eyebrows. "The most memorable Pride of all. You have to come to Vibrations now."
Tumblr media
"I agree!" She said with a laugh, "it just makes the image funnier." Which now, she couldn't get the out of her head which in turn caused her to giggle a bit. "I'd pay to see that, but who knows. And hey only one way to find out, right?"

"It counts for quite a lot, actually. Shows you're more cultured than I thought you'd be." A tease again, as playful as it was true. She knew the nature of people who worked with both animals and people were prone to being shut ins. "You're making sense again. Twice in one conversation. This is getting weird," though really, they didn't know each other too well but Adya's natural aversion to men made it hard for her take the majority of them seriously. Or value their input. Even if they were vetted by quite a few people around her. Even if they had a few people in common. "I never thought of it like that but damn, they MUST be making a killing then, yeah? Their business model is air tight. I guess they can stay open until 2am for now. But if I'm ever Mayor it'll be my first order of tyrannical business. Unless you know a good post Vibrations house party happening?"
Tumblr media
"Hey, I know who Patrick Star is. That should count for something." Chandler laughed. "I'd have to know who he is to avoid him hearing me say I don't know who he is....it's a bit of a catch-22." As she criticized Vibrations hours, he shrugged. He could certainly agree they closed too early, but he'd learned to adapt after years of partying there. "The tip is to move the party to a house after that. Or the 24-hour diner. But yeah, I wish they were open until 4am. They're literally only open, what, twelve hours a week?"

It would be meme-worthy, on Tik Tok in the coming weeks even. Winging it is always great if you're a winging it kinda person, which I'm really not. It seems like we're all going to Vibrations, honestly. I'll make sure to check out some of the events at the park out too -- ESPECIALLY if you and Darrius end up at them. Maybe it would be a good change of scenery. I'm kind of trying to get all my social interaction in for the month after I have to disappear into the work-sphere again.
Tumblr media
An apology made on air by said makeup artists would be actually hilarious. Nah, I'm not very connected with the group I mostly keep to my circle on Lupine. I think I'm mostly going to be winging it. Hit up the events at the park, if I have the energy and Dare wants to maybe go to Vibrations.

What part did I lose you at? The YAS queen? Are you not YASSified? Are you the type of guy who doesn't want any attention then? Wait, is this you admitting you wear a toupée? No judgement of course, some men lose their hair really early and it's nothing to be ashamed about. I do agree though, having people on the internet talk about your appearance is BRUTAL but they signed up for it. To be fair, if Dick Starr ever comes across an unflattering photo of myself, I give him full permission to drag me on the morning news.
Tumblr media
Huh? You lost me a little there. But, I guess, for him, if he actually did that on purpose, dare or no dare, that would qualify as good press. Like you said, it gets people to talk about him. And his bad toupee. Which, if it's me, not the kind of topic I want people to talk about. But, again, it's not me. Although, if that's the case, his confidence will already be high enough, I'm not sure the town can handle any more of that.

I ...like the way you think, actually. Because you're right. Maybe I'd watch one of the Kardashian shows if Richard Starr and Kris Jenner were STARCROSSED lovers that only we the audience knew. Richard Starr is like Merrock's version of Al Roker but if he wasn't a weather man but the head honcho. Like if the movie Anchorman and Al Roker had the most Kardashian-esque baby, that would be him. Except, he does actually have style and he's not a fake good person. As far as I know. I don't actually know the man personally or anything.
Tumblr media
Well why not Kris Jenner? They could be the same kind of famous. We never know. Tell me all about Richard Starr because now I'm curious and I won't be able to sleep tonight. If he dyed his toupee rainbow then I definitely will know who he is in the Merrock crowd. If you do hunt him down I want to see it. I'll have my camera out and everything. I'm going to believe the secret lovers just for fun. They might meet on Kris's private jet for their rendezvous. We could look up at any moment and see them flying together in happy bliss and it would never be on the Kardashian show.

Adya raised the glass in return, "to being drunk before sunset. And Pride, of course." A laugh as she knew she was well on her way, this day was too good not to INDULGE in it. Of course, her body would not thank her for it in the morning -- every hangover over 30 was more brutal than the last -- but she was a tough person. "This is beyond sweet. Which is needed. In my line of work, extravagance is frowned upon. In fact, sometimes, it's the extra shit that'll kill you. So. I'm elated to be here. Did you organize this? Don't tell me I'm talking to the party planner himself? You could be the Benefactor for all I know."
Tumblr media
"You, my friend, are going to be drunk before sunset if you do that." Which was another pride tradition from his twenties. Drunk before dusk. He'd calmed down as he'd approached his mid-thirties. He could complain about rainbow capitalism, colorful shots costing twelve bucks, and all the other justified criticisms in July. He laughed. "I like that bet." He raised his drink in solidarity to it. "What do you think of our little festival? It's not extravagant but it is always sweet."

Obviously. I did. It was so good it stayed with me until I went Father's Day Shopping the next morning with my sister. I'm a literal Doctor and couldn't cure or prepare myself for the hangover I had that day. Did you? Any glitter you can't quite wash off?
Tumblr media
Nah, I showed up. Can't say Vibrations is my regular hang out or anything, but I'm always there for events. Couldn't miss this one, obviously. You end up having a good night?

These days? You sound old, jurassic even, like you're criticizing the youth for liking Twilight. You're not wrong though...maybe a new metaphor for saying someone's personality SPARKLES. Though, Edward is pretty damn boring.
Tumblr media
Oh, but that's a great judgement to make. Maybe someone would even be flattered to be compared to Edward Cullen, just a thought? Some people are into that, these days.
