Speed over Substance
Social media has drastically changed how we communicate, especially how we connect with others. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have transformed conversations from formal and detailed discussions into one that are more casual, direct interactions. In the past, where we would craft messages, sometimes over long periods, but now we find ourselves typing shorter, quicker thoughts, often with the help of emojis, shorthand, and hashtags and this shift in communication style has made it easier for us to share our ideas around the world in seconds. Whats the downside? The rush of sending quick messages without thinking carefully about how they might be interpreted has also led to misunderstandings. Social media also creates echo chambers, where people are exposed only to opinions and ideas they agree with, leaving little to no room for diverse discussions. People may feel closer to each other online, but we also risk falling into a trap of one-sided communication. It’s crucial to reflect on whether social media's instant nature is improving our communication or causing important and meaningful conversations to suffer.

This video dives into how simple miscommunications can spiral out of control, giving trolls the perfect opening to stir up chaos. Whether it's a text that gets taken the wrong way or a comment that fuels endless back and forths, the video shows how our digital interactions can sometimes lead to more harm than good. It’s a fascinating look at why clear, thoughtful communication matters in a world where every word can be amplified and misinterpreted by anyone online.

"In this new culture war, the battle isn’t just over homosexuality, abortion, rap lyrics, drugs or how to greet people at Christmastime. It’s expanded to anything and everything: video games, clothing ads, even remaking a mediocre comedy from the 1980s." Time Staff

Its nice to know we are working to keep kids' data safe so it isn’t misused. Protecting the most vulnerable in our population from creepy targeted ads, data leaks, and sketchy stuff online. Giving power back to parents and removing data after a period of time seems like a good move.
