May 18, 2025 - Over a 100.000 people marched in The Hague, making it the largest demonstration in the Netherlands in 20 years, to condemn the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people, and the complicity in this genocide of the Dutch government, universities, businesses and other institutions. Most protesters came to the protest dressed in red, saying "Israel has to be stopped now, we are drawing the red line!", because even open ethnic cleansing, bombing of hospitals and ambulances, deliberate starving of children, constant war crimes and open genocide in general apparently aren't a red line for Israel to cross in the eyes of the Dutch government. my friend Omar is still desperately in need of funds. he is living in a tent, often going entire day without eating and his mental health and suicidal ideation have been awful as conditions worsen. the prospect of escaping seems far off and now it is simply trying to afford food to last day to day. he has endured so much loss of his family and friends and teammates (he played football before the destruction and displacement) Omar is a selfless, community minded man, and a radiant presence in this world, struggling with depression and being crushed by this brutal occupation.

please help him and his family out; he is on insta and appreciates anyone sharing his posts or kind words. he speaks often of how much people ignore you if you are Black and Palestinian. please don't ignore this and consider skipping one small thing in your day to day, anything, and directing that to this campaign instead.

A group of trans women protesting outside Scottish parliament to condemn the UK Supreme Court’s bioessentialist ruling on sex, and the response of the Scottish government. “This ruling, and the subsequent EHRC guidance aims to segregate trans people from safe spaces that they have for used for decades without issue. We are demanding that the Scottish government stand up for its trans citizens by fighting this ruling and appealing to the European Court of Human Rights.”

One of the demonstrators, Sugar, described the protests as "a public act of grief, resistance and solidarity to highlight the hypocrisy of the ruling. If the Supreme Court can see these woman legally as men, then they’ll have zero issue with them going tops off.”

This country is, has always been, and if we don’t change it NOW, will always be, a racist, homophobic, sexist, totalitarian fascist empire built on intolerance and ignorance. This IS who we are. And a small reminder to show some love to your Asian American and Pacific Islander loved ones. Watch some AAPI films and read some books. Learn our histories, of which there are many, as well as how we are interwoven into America's history too. Cook some food and share it in the community. Just engage, I promise the people around you will appreciate it.

everyone should have access to healthy and affordable food, whether they cook it themself or they access it from a restaurant :)

Am I the only one who think the "anyone should be able to learn how to cook, because you literally just have to follow a recipe" take is ableist? Because like... whoa, it's almost like "struggles to follow intrusctions" is an extremely common symptom for a lot of neurodivergent disorders?!

And Idk, maybe it's also because I had actual cooking classes in high school (we even had a little restaurant ran by the students), but yes, there are in fact different levels of cooking skills and how much someone can follow a recipe, which yes, will heavily impact the final product and wheter it's edible or not.

Just because cooking is a life skill doesn't mean everyone can easily learn how to do it. Even IF they eventually learn by just "trying harder" it doesn't change the fact they litetally can't learn without screwing it up along the way, which y'all assholes won't let them do without shaming them for "failing as a human".

And no, the "but some do it on purpose as weaponized incompetence :(" argument is no excuse to attack literally everyone who struggles with cooking. You will never truly know how hard someone is genuinely trying behind all their "failing".

(I'm saying this as someone with like basic average cooking skills.)

i think “video games aren’t really the violent child-corrupting threat some parents worry they are” and “certain circles of gamer culture are incredibly toxic and can lead people down dangerous/hateful ideological rabbit holes” are ideas that can absolutely coexist

accessibility is not just a (usually too steep) ramp and a half working elevator you need a key for. it's also:

access to mobility aids

closed captioning, interpreters, and transcripts for those who need them OR those who prefer them

sensory safe enviroments

dim lighting

flexible seating, lights, and noise control

online forms and websites that screen readers are able to access properly

elevators that are free for everyone to use

wider doors

braille

clear signage

transit that is easy to navigate

if your "accessible" space has a ramp that doubles as a slide and a sketchy elevator you need a key for, you're fucking doing it wrong.
