Welcome to the Summer 2025 Buddie Big Bang!

Tired of hiatus already? Looking for a way to spread positivity and have fun in fandom? Sign up for the Summer 2025 Buddie Big Bang! We are looking for authors, artists, betas, and cheerleaders who love Buddie and want to create fanworks to share with the fandom. We have three tracks that require varying types of commitment to recognize the busy, diverse lives in the fandom, and will allow the fun to continue all summer long (& beyond). There are no to what you can write about, as long as it is Buddie centric. Canon, canon-divergence, and complete AUs are all acceptable - it's up to you!

How can you participate?

If you're an author wanting to pen a fic, you can sign up here. You can choose from three tracks - the 4 week, 5k minimum track, the 10 week, 15k minimum track, or the 16 week, 25k minimum track.

If you're an artist who wants to create art for one of our authors' fics, you can sign up here. Again, there are three tracks to choose from - the 2 week banner track, the 6 week banner+art piece track, and the 10 week banner+2 art pieces track.

If you want to help support our authors by providing beta services you may sign up here! Betas will be assigned to authors who indicate they want one when they sign up.

Finally, if you just want to offer encouragement to our author and artist pairs, you can sign up to be a cheerleader here. You will be expected to provide kind words, act as a sounding board, and give gentle nudges.

“i can’t believe chim was the one to tell eddie to stay, it should’ve been buck—” yes but let’s put our thinking hats on for a second. some have realised this already, and talked about it. so realise that buck can’t.

their dynamic has shifted over the time they’ve been apart. buck has been so so so supportive, and eddie’s been so so so glad to receive that support, and everybody and their mother clocked it as married behaviour. they’ve gone beyond best friends now, somehow! it began when eddie started pushing buck into a position of coparent, but while 800 miles apart buck became far more than that! and they know it and they can’t acknowledge it!

listen. buck could’ve told eddie to stay put, when eddie shared he needed to go back to el paso. he could’ve done that. he could’ve told eddie that chris likes la, that he’ll want to be wherever eddie is now, that it’s not necessary to return to texas and that they’ll deal with the paperwork, that eddie doesn’t need to punish himself further because it’s so clear he considers los angeles home. and eddie would’ve nodded eventually, would’ve said yeah, sorry buck, i know. you’re right.

and listen. eddie, yeah? eddie could’ve told buck to come grieve with him, when they picked that fight in the kitchen. he could’ve told buck that his stillness frightened him and that it was unnecessary and unneeded and that all that eddie needed was for buck to sit with him, and cry with him, because eddie can’t handle it alone and buck’s the only person he can grieve with the way he meeds to. and buck would’ve nodded and teared up and would’ve said okay, of course i will, i’m sorry for scaring you.

but they can’t. they’ve crossed lines and now they’re caught on either side of a glass wall they don’t dare the break through just yet. buck can’t tell eddie to stay, and eddie can’t tell buck to be his safe space, because they don’t feel that that’s their place. so chimney told eddie instead of buck (and eddie spoke past buck instead of asking him directly) and that’s the way it is for now because everything’s too fragile to risk breaking apart.

The top/bottom only became an issue when people started seeing/writing more b!eddie.

it did! very annoying discourse. b!eddie is just as neat as b!buck and i don’t think the b!buck truthers need to feel threatened because the bulk of what’s being posted is still b!buck or buddie as switches.

i’m newer to the fandom, but i have it on good authority that the b!eddie content that WAS there prior to the surge mainly revolved around eddie needing therapy to even be able to take it up the ass, or treating bottoming almost as a form of self-punishment. it’s a good thing that authors feel freer in writing a b!eddie who just likes receiving without getting all stuck in his head about it.

though one can look at why, exactly, they vastly prefer one or the other (be it personal sexual preference regarding the actors/characters, or subconscious biases), it’s just smut—not a morality contest.

the b!buck vs b!eddie argument is annoying as hell just say you have a preference and go. there’s no need to consistently and at length clarify why you think either makes more sense to you and why the other is inherently Wrong bc most of the time you’ll end up coming across as either mildly homophobic and/or mildly racist through the sheer amount of holier than thou stereotyping. you know who you are
