Solar Pond Aerators
After a five-day trip on our trawler, where we had to start the generator to supply electricity to the AC freezer at 115 volts to maintain temperature, I started to think about other options. In just five days, we spent over ninety hours working on the vessel generator. It was time for an oil change! The generator's run time was greatly improved by installing an inverter shortly thereafter. However, there were still many tasks to complete. To run the inverter, I needed to make sure the batteries were fully charged. I thought it was time to explore solar Fine Bubble Air Diffuser panels for our yacht. Since the mid 1950s solar panels have been used successfully. They were originally used in manned space exploration. Since 2004, when they became more popular, their cost has been falling. Solar panels are now as popular as ever, thanks to the Green pressure. I began to investigate them to learn how to mount and purchase one. It was a huge surprise. There are many online sellers that sell solar panels, but I could not find any detailed information on how to choose and install one. This is especially true if you live aboard a yacht. This article was written as I went along the process; it is truly a "learn-as you go" article.

What is a Solar Panel? How do they work?
Any panel that uses the sun's thermal energy for electricity is called a solar panel. A photovoltaic solar panel is a panel that uses the sun's energy to produce electricity. This panel is also known as a photovoltaic. Nearly all solar panels, despite the variety of types being discussed here, are flat. The panel's surface must be 90 degrees from the sun to absorb the sun's energy. Through a collection solar cells on the panel's surface, solar panels can absorb energy from sunlight. Solar cells work in a similar way to how plants absorb energy from the sun to produce photosynthesis. The sun's rays hitting the photovoltaic panels, solar energy is converted to silicon semiconductors. The power is then converted into (dc), direct current electrical energy, and then passed through connecting cables to eventually enter a storage device.
There are many types of solar panels
The most common types of panels used for yachting purposes have multicrystalline or amorphous thin film cells. The oldest technology available, and also the strongest, are multicrystalline panels. These panels can be used to operate large loads, such as refrigeration, if they are properly sized and paired with the right batteries.
Although they are less efficient than multicrystalline panels by about half, amorphous thin-film solar panels can still be used to power a boat's cabin top or bimini. Although they don't have a lot of energy, they can be used to charge a battery bank.
