more on reid , is it just me who hated the cat story line? i can’t even remember much, but i just know it was boring and didn’t seem like reid.

the whole thing felt sort of fan service-y (or maybe even more ? i just refuse to re watch). i feel like there are definitely people who just tuned into criminal minds due to their attraction to reid (heck i’m sure even back then people just watched due to thomas gibson and shemar moore), but i wish they didn’t change his character so much from the original source.

so many shows struggle with this bs, but a part of me just wanted them to stay loyal to their fanbase and not make unnecessary changes to their characters

since my first post is talking about garcia and her regression as a character, i feel like another character who 100% without a doubt lost many of his original traits is reid !!!!

when i first watched the show, i honestly disliked him a bit because of the whole genius thing, but he definitely became a more lovable character as the seasons go on, but a lot of his charm was lost to fan service .

i miss the ‘undiagnosed autism’ behavior in him. he became a stereotypical hot and sexy guy in later seasons due to mgg’s spike in popularity and it really sucked watching it happen. i miss pretty boy reid </3 there was 100% a difference! also its perfectly clear spencer isn’t an “alpha male” like the others in the team, but it helped in certain cases. like the one with the swinger guy and they had to question his wife, him not being so dominant helped their case. although i do agree that characters have to grow, and seeing him be more comfortable interrogating alone and handling situations by himself was a nice detail, i don’t think you can “outgrow” autism.

and until now i wish they handled his health and drug problem better.

stupidly enough , i don’t think it ever hit me that morgan being the only black one in the group is the one always being pushed to be the tough one.

honestly i feel like i say this with every post i make — i really miss the season 1 characters 😭😭 i remember initially being put off with how morgan treated elle shooting the suspect, and even with my opinion on him, i never really saw it as sexist because he always had a big moral compass (definitely because of his father) , but as the seasons go on his character seems to lose these aspects. i think rewatching earlier seasons of morgan really reminded me of his past personality and oh my days do i miss it

woah i never even clocked the jj one . but i do think he had good intentions with poor execution. i binged a lot more of the older episodes and noticed how the majority of rude things he says are due to his worry of how it’ll effect the case , but it was definitely just written in a way that seemed too harsh

might just be a me thing, but anyone else notice how morgan can seem quite sexist? i’m unsure if this was intended, but it’s true he can be a bit of a jerk in certain situations, but i notice he can make some unnecessary comments when it comes to women, although i could just be forgetting times he’s been rude to men.

but i do remember in the pilot how he talked about gideon, it always gave me a weird first impression of him.

and when i mean sexist, i mean his comment on prentiss about how he slept with doyle for a profile and how she was slightly judgy with blake not being open about her personal life. let me know your thoughts !! 🤍
