"Okay, okay," Matt—or, rather, Matthew, now—says, once they're in the back, the locker room that's been set up for them. He holds his hands up, index fingers high. "We're gonna have to, y'know, really make some changes here. This thing, with Khan, it was just the beginning."

Nicholas claps Jack on the shoulder, almost too hard. "You've been a real asset here, Scapegoat. We owe you, really."

"No, actually," Matthew trails off. His eyes narrow. Then he says, "No, no, that's good. We do owe you. And, as a gesture of goodwill, to show that we are properly appreciative..." He rolls his wrists around as he looks around the room, between the three of them. "... we are, we're gonna give you something. Anything you want."

Jack frowns. "What?"

"No, yeah, he's right," Nicholas says. "Anything. We're EVPs. We can get you whatever you want. You want a main event match? Booked. You got someone you wanna beat the shit out of? Done. You want a title? We can make that happen."

Jack looks between the two of them, and at Okada, sitting on the loveseat with his foot propped up on his knee without a care in the world. "Seriously?"

"Yeah," Matthew says. He's nodding. "Seriously. Anything."

"Anything," Jack repeats, just to try the word out.

Nicholas spreads his hands like he's doing a magic trick. "Whatever you want, Jack."

Jack doesn't need a feud; he's got enough people who will come out of the woodwork to get a shot at him. He doesn't need gold; he'll win that on his own once he's given a proper chance. He doesn't need the fancy cars or the expensive dinners to write-off; he's lived that life.

It's been a long fucking time since Jack has felt like he had any control over the situation. A long time since he's been able to even make his own choices, because they've all been made for him. And now? He feels good. He feels really fucking good. This... he's finally clawed back what he deserves out of this company.

"What'll it be?" Matthew asks.

Jack doesn't want a fight, or a belt. Jack just wants.

He sucks in a deep breath, and oh, the answer tingles on the tip of his tongue, waiting to be given life.

Do other writers ever get this like, hyper-specific dialogue exchange drop into their brains and you know exactly where these character are standing and what they’re doing and how they’re saying these words but that’s all you get. You don’t have much other context and this specific moment that exists only at this time in your headspace??

The notes in that rpf poll are literally making me sick. Oh, you're a "reformed real person shipper"? Oh you were only a silly teen? STFU. Like actually, grow up more. There's nothing wrong with RPF. Movies are often RPF, because people will write it with certain actors in mind. Historical fiction is RPF. SNL is RPF. Some centuries-old plays are RPF!

The only problem would be if it's being sent to the celebrity unsolicited, or people are harassing the real people to be in a real relationship. But that's not a normal part of writing RPF! Thats a PARASOCIAL problem; a HARRASSMENT problem; not a writing problem. That's more like what antis do to "out" people, or what people who can't tell fiction from reality do.

Genuinely hope all the people judging RPF purely on existing grow out of their ridiculousness. You don't have to like reading it. But judging a FRIEND because they start WRITING it??? What the actual fuck y'all.

when you live on the iowa/nebraska boarder and your friend sends you this vid from omaha during the worst storm of the year so far 😍

This is near Waverly, Nebraska this Friday afternoon. An NDOT camera caught this tornado at I-80 and 148th.

It's been an absolutely horrific day in both. Iowa and Nebraska, along with some other states..tornadoes in the dozens, have moved through destroying life and property..

Unfortunately, tomorrow appears to be the same .. this is already being called a historic outbreak of tornadoes today, April 26th 2024.
