                 his family is what matters most to tidus, it always has; his nontu                  && his nomon, bran and his siblings--    they were his family, by                  blood or none at all,       it was clear in his eyes he would do any                  thing for the tree climber to walk again;      even if he died trying.

          part of him wants to yell at tidus,    to  tell  him what an           awful idea that is.    to  tell  him that they won’t want to           heal him,    that  he’s  fought  against them in battle so           why  would  they  want  to  save  him  just  so  that  he           could  fight again?    but he stays silent,    as the other           part of him wants his legs back.   to  follow his dreams           and become a great warrior.    no, forget that.    it  just           wants him to walk again. so he gives give a small nod,           not meeting his friend’s eyes.

               tidus wants to say nothing, he wishes to not confirm nor deny                bran’s biggest and most current fear.         that the healer was                 RIGHT && there was no fixing him.     ❝ i’ll go to the skaikru, ❞                they had better medicines,      they might have something that                 could fix his little brother   IF HE BEGGED enough maybe they                would spare their knowledge and help tidus fix the child laying                on the bed beside him.      ❝ they’ll know how to fix you, you’ll                walk bran, i promise. ❞

          he takes his brother’s hand,    holding  it close to his           chest as if it will soften the blow when tidus says the           thing  that  he  knows the be true but wishes so hard           was not. he will never walk again,    he  knows  it. he           will   never  be  able  to  achieve  the  things  that  he           dreamed of for so long.  he will never fight in another           battle,  never become the great warrior he so hoped           to become. knowing that makes him feel hollow,  as           if  someone had come in and stolen all of the things           that  had  kept  him  living,    leaving  only  a  hollow           shell behind.

                 ❝ let’s not talk about that, ❞ he looks teary eyed as he sits                  on the side of the bed;  hand reaching for his little brothers                  as he does so.  he seems so small like this, and though he                  has been smaller than tidus for most of their lives; no all of                  it.        yet this is the smallest he’s seen him, as well as the                   meekist as if someone beat          the bright spirit bran was                   known to have-- right out of him.          && he wants to hurt                   fate, if it were a humanoid being, he’d want to hurt it badly                  and make it regret doing this--   but he cannot, he is a boy                  and fate a goddess he cannot touch.

          he already knew what the answer would be.  ‘no.            no bran you will not be able to walk. never again.’           he  had  been told it already by a different healer.           yet  that  healer  was  not  tidus  and he wouldn’t           truly  believe  it until  he  heard  the  same words           come from his friend’s mouth.
