Undertale & Deltarune screencapper for the sake of knowledge! Currently working on Chapter 1 + 2 of Deltarune before the rest of the chapters drop; I try to check my email multiple times a day in case someone needs manual access to the Undertale Text Project. (Kris/Frisk/Chara appreciator)

Note
hey, i was wondering! theres no text project for undertale yellow to my knowledge and obviously i wouldnt expect you to do it since youre about to have your hands full with deltarunes chapter 3 + 4, so ive been considering if i could handle doing it myself and was wondering if you have any tips for that sort of endevor?
First, before I get into the tips, I'm am SORRY that I took so long to reply; I've been very busy with IRL stuff lately (international travel for family, over a week of fighting illness, babysitting for my brother, etc.), so I've been really neglecting to answer this [and then my first draft got obliterated because I misclicked!].
Now to answer your question and give tips:
Hex Editing:
To be honest I forgot the specific hex editor I used (so many years ago!) but if you can, it would really help to find any means possible to do things like teleport rooms, alter stats, put items in your inventory, etc. so that way you can cut down on constant full playthroughs, make some moments easier, etc.
Save Structure:
Coinciding with the above, try to look around and find the save structure for UT Yellow, that way when you do any kind of editing you'll know exactly what you're doing.
Room Index:
And like the above, a room index helps for teleporting around to help capture really specific dialogue, especially on repeat playthroughs where you really don't need to play the entire game again just to get a few lines of text, especially if it's around the endgame.
Text Dump:
At bare minimum, search around for a text dump of the whole game, so that way you can basically check list every screenshot you take and narrow down exactly what you need.
Route Organization:
If you can, try to find a text dump that's roughly organized by available route, especially if you can sort out inaccessible text from the text dump (that way you're not wasting too much time trying to chase text you can't normally find without editing/hacking); https://www.reddit.com/r/Undertale/comments/4i231w/spoilers_excel_file_of_every_line_of_text_in_the/
Word/Google Doc:
When you get the text dump, copy-paste it all into something like a Word or Google doc, and as you get each screencap you can erase the corresponding line(s) of text, which helps narrow down what you still need and also really helps feel like you're making some progress; additionally, it lets you organize if you feel like you're not encountering certain lines.
Game Route Optimization:
Pre-plan your playthroughs so that way you can get as much as you can per playthrough, for example screencapping using every item that you currently can on your first go.
Folder Templates/Copy-Pasting:
For certain recurring elements in the game, such as monster encounters (ACTs, Flavor Text, etc.), shopkeepers, and so on, you might want to have some kind of empty folder (+ subfolders) template at hand so that way you can easily copy-paste the necessary folders rather than having to manually make every single new folder one at a time.
ShareX:
The go-to software for taking screencaps; use Alt + Prt sc in order to take screencaps of each new line of text easily, and make sure that there aren't any desktop icons around the borders (they can be fully underneath though) of the windowed game so that way the edges of the captures look clean and consistent. You might have to fiddle around with some settings for consistent image dimensions and transparency, so take a few test run screencaps to make sure everything's in order.
If you go to Application settings > Paths > Sub folder pattern, I like to use %y-%mo-%d %h-%mi-%s-%ms so that it neatly timestamps each screencap so that successive text is neatly ordered, instead of having filenames that are all over the place.
Screen Recording & Video Player:
Whenever text scrolls automatically, use Capture > Screen recording in order to make a video of said text, and then open up the video in your video player of choice (as long as it allows screencaps and frame-by-frame forward/backward) so that you can screencap the last frame before the text transitions.
Asking For Help:
Look for support from others! Don't be afraid to ask around for any kind of screencap work (sharing the load) or even just asking basic questions like where a certain line of text might be, any kind of assistance will make things much more manageable.
Best of luck!

Undertale Text Project - Console-Exclusive Screencaps Update
Hey, hey, hey!
Thanks to the efforts of @sifow020, the Undertale Text Project has now been updated with the various console-exclusive screencaps!
Because they're console screencaps, they don't have the same typical borders or image dimensions of the PC screencaps, but they should work just fine.
For easiest access, the console-exclusive material will be upfront in it's own folder:
Console-Exclusive Screencaps - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1c7XNMJ8-FIhrvBwW1242eAZxHNxJy-4a?usp=drive_link
Full Undertale Text Project (Google Drive) - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18jZ3vwt9o4RSwUspEuv256ASZdV1b-ED?usp=drive_link
Ver. 5 ZIP File - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ownwruMQwZ98b_F0GtUJspEZwuNPwRmt/view?usp=drive_link
Previous posts will also be updated with the links to the updated material.

If you press and hold the A key when any character's ACT/Magic menu is open, a new window will appear next to the enemies. This only works in Chapter 2.

I'm reading through the Deltarune Text Project folder and it's so awesome! The most interesting thing I've seen so far is how Noelle's Boldness value changes throughout the story. I never noticed it and it's super interesting. It's also nice that you can tell how many times Iceshock has been used by the Coldness value.
One of the things that's always mesmerized me about Deltarune and Undertale is the really little details like those - the stuff that most people wouldn't really notice, but add extra polish to the storytelling.

So funny (sorta)story,
When i saw a locked version of the Undertale Text Project i thought "huh only big undertale/deltarune blogs and content creators have acesses to this" and then started to replaying undertale(and recording it with OBS) to make a "free and open version" of the text project. i'm at my 4th run of the game(inducing hard mode) and i came across a post about the text project and thought to click this blog and i found the non-locked version of the text project. there isn't much of a down side to this since i have a shit load of undertale footage now. thought it was kinda silly i replayed undertale because of a false assumption.
-U
Yeah. I'm genuinely sorry that the original text project requires share requests, as - to my knowledge - Google "updates" in the past have rendered it completely unable to be changed back to free access to everyone, meaning I had to just make another copy entirely.

Deltarune Text Project Update #3
(View WIP Text Project Here)
After far too long, here’s another update to the Deltarune Text Project - 99% Complete edition!
To Recap:
- There is actually several pieces of dialogue that I have tried to get, but otherwise cannot get anymore because I don’t know the conditions, or some sort of internal data prevents me from getting it again: - Kris’s name on 1st save file: If I remember right, this has to do with getting completion data on Chapter 1, so since I’ve finished Chapter 1 several times by now, I can no longer get this. - Green File Select screen in Chapter 1: Essentially the same as the above. - The last Weird Route Save Point dialogue won’t show up again, presumably because it’s already been completed once before.
There is also several pieces of battle dialogue that I’m not sure can actually be gotten, or I otherwise don’t know how to trigger them in-game:
- Rudinn: - Rudinn is alright with not fighting. [Spare conditions met]
- Hathy: - Hathy's beat slows. [Tired] - Hathy is skipping beats. [Spare conditions met]
- Jigsawry: - Jigsawry looks happy about its life. [Spare conditions met]
- Ponman: - Ponman is sleeping soundly. [Sleepy]
- K. Round: - K.Round looks weak. [Tired] - K.Round's shuffle becomes lethargic. [Low HP]
- Rabbick: - You and Ralsei warned Rabbick about Susie. The enemy went on guard... [Warned] - Rabbick is now nice and clean. [Spare conditions met]
- Clover: - Clover seems to be getting along with herselves. [Spare conditions met]
- Lancer 2: - Huh? What was that? [After Susie blocks Lancer's ears from "The Final Blow of Kindness"]
- Rudinn Ranger: - Rudinn Ranger seems totally flattered. [Spare conditions met]
- Head Hathy: - Head Hathy blocked the way! [Encounter] - Head Hathy's beat slows. [Tired] - Head Hathy is skipping beats. [Spare conditions met]
- Jevil: - JEVIL got more TIRED! [Hypnosis, if JEVIL is not sufficiently tired]
- Werewire: - Werewire swung in! [Encounter] - Werewire and Maus swung down like stringed superheroes! [Unused encounter with Maus]
- Ambyu-Lance: - Ambyu-Lance and its pet appeared! [Encounter with ?]
- Maus: - Smells like wood shavings. [Neutral] - Maus would like to go to its favorite bistro in this marvelous city. [Neutral]
- Spamton: - $VAULES$ (rarely)
- Swatchling: - Please enjoy this complimentary shockwave. [Red] - What? The lasagna has some kind of explosive in it? [Blue, rare]
IN ADDITION: Like the Undertale Text Project, there's now an “X. Miscellaneous” folder of interesting things in the game: - Chapter & Route Stat Changes (’Power’ Section) - Character Spells (’Power’ Section) - Character Titles (’Power’ Section) - Configuration - ‘Everyman’ Sightings & Mentions - Game Over Screens - ICE-E Sightings & Mentions - Items - 1. Equippable Items - 2. Healing Items - 3. Light World Weapons & Armor - 4. Throwing Away Items - 5. Miscellaneous Items - 6. In-Battle Descriptions - X. Key Items (& Lancer) - X2. Too Many Items - Missing An Attack - Sans’s Number - Save Point Messages - Toriel Phone Calls
If any of you feel that there’s something else that deserves it’s own folder in the Miscellaneous section, feel free to let me know!
With all that said, if there are any suggestions to make such as missing screencaps to get (and how to get them), folder naming suggestions, etc., feel free to let me know.
(By the way, if you’re [rightfully] wondering why this took so long, it’s a couple of things: one is that both chapters put together are surprisingly long, two is that I don’t have useful tools like an in-game script, save file editing, and room/event numbers like for Undertale, three is that so far I’m going at this completely alone instead of having a group effort, and four is that at one point I kinda just got burnt out and needed a temporary break after so many replays lol)
(By the way #2: For SOME reason, updating the Chapter 2 folder is claiming there’s “upload problems” with 9 out of the total 10593 files and I have zero idea which files those are, so if someone manages to find a spot where some images are clearly missing, please let me know!)

Deltarune Text Project Update #2
(View WIP Text Project Here)
Here comes another update to the Deltarune Text Project!
So for various IRL circumstances, I got moderately sidetracked on previous folder-updating plans, so while the Monster Encounters for Chapter 2 haven’t been added yet, instead I almost entirely-finished the Overworld for Chapter 1, as well as many details in Chapter 2 if you used Chapter 1 completion data; when I finally finish the Monster Encounters, that will be when I sync Google Drive to my desktop for automatic updates (and with how obscure or otherwise strange some overworld dialogue is, monster encounter dialogue should be a lot easier and faster to get!).
Now, there is actually several pieces of dialogue that I have tried to get, but otherwise cannot get anymore because I don’t know the conditions, or some sort of internal data prevents me from getting it again: - Kris’s name on 1st save file: If I remember right, this has to do with getting completion data on Chapter 1, so since I’ve finished Chapter 1 several times by now, I can no longer get this. - Green file select screen in Chapter 1: Essentially the same as the above.
IN ADDITION: Like the Undertale Text Project, there will eventually be a “X. Miscellaneous” folder of things I find interesting: - Chapter & Route Stat Changes (’Power’ Section) - Character Spells (’Power’ Section) - Character Titles (’Power’ Section) - Configuration - Game Over Screens - Items - 1. Item Descriptions - 2. Item Equips (Equipment) - 3. Item Usage (Healing) - 4. Light World Weapons & Armor (Equipment) - 5. Item Thrown Away - 6. Item Usage (Other) - X. Key Items - X2. Too Many Items - Missing An Attack - Save Point Messages - Toriel Phone Calls
If any of you feel that there’s something else that deserves it’s own folder, feel free to let me know!
As mentioned before, in “109. Alley" I had to use ShareX’s Screen Recording feature because of text that automatically scrolls too fast, and the resulting screencaps are 1282x998 in size; while pasting them on top of the usual 1282x999 images seem to have the text line up 1:1, it’s still a discrepancy I want to make a note about.
Similarly again, some folders are also named [Pending] because I just simply couldn’t think of a name.
With all that said, if there are any suggestions to make such as missing screencaps to get (and how to get them), folder naming suggestions, etc., feel free to let me know.
Also, this may be my favorite interaction in the game (careful, doing this will softlock the Weird Route):

Deltarune Text Project Update
(View WIP Text Project Here)
Here it is, the Google Drive of the mostly-completed Neutral + Pacifist (everyone recruited) run of Chapter 2 of Deltarune on a completely fresh save file (i.e. without a previous Chapter 1 save, to help separate all the “base” Chapter 2 material). I definitely know there’s something I’ve likely missed, but hopefully this serves as a decent update. A folder for the chapter select screen is also included.
Weird Route Status: Pending! As noted before: - Chapter 2 Neutral/Aborted Weird Route (with a completely fresh save file) - Chapter 2 Weird Route (with a completely fresh save file)
Will be the upcoming folders after this update. I’ll also update with screencaps of the various monster encounters as well, since I wanna do that all at once (especially with some of the route differences for specific fights).
In some folders (ex. 69. Queen Again) I had to use ShareX’s Screen Recording feature because of text that automatically scrolls too fast, and the resulting screencaps are 1282x998 in size; while pasting them on top of the usual 1282x999 images seem to have the text line up 1:1, it’s still a discrepancy I want to make a note about. Hopefully it doesn’t bother anybody (’cause it bothers me a lot...!).
Some folders are also named [Pending] - that’s because I just simply couldn’t think of a name.
With all that said, if there are any suggestions to make such as missing screencaps to get (and how to get them), folder naming suggestions, etc., feel free to let me know.

Within the next few days I’m gonna try to get an update out for the Deltarune Text Project and upload a mostly-completed Neutral + Pacifist (everyone recruited) run of Chapter 2 of Deltarune on a completely fresh save file (i.e. without a previous Chapter 1 save, to help separate all the “base” Chapter 2 material); sorry for the long wait, IRL shakeups has left me with less free time than I used to, but in the near future I think I’ll be able to have a freer schedule.

Do you ever plan on adding the content of the Undertale console ports to the Undertale Text Project?
Every now and then I've thought about it, but to this day I've yet to actually buy any of the console ports to take console-exclusive screencaps, so I'd need to ask for assistance in that area.

(PLEASE BE SURE TO ACCESS THE ORIGINAL POST INSTEAD OF CLICKING THE SHARING LINKS THROUGH REBLOGS, FOR REASONS EXPLAINED BELOW...!)
Updated Undertale Text Project Google Drive Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18jZ3vwt9o4RSwUspEuv256ASZdV1b-ED?usp=sharing
Updated Undertale Text Project .zip File Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ownwruMQwZ98b_F0GtUJspEZwuNPwRmt/view?usp=drive_link (If you feel there are some additions/changes I should make to the above, please let me know via Tumblr DM or email!)
Alright, so I've got quite an update to share regarding text project stuff:
I've been having a hunch that the old link (pre- Google security change) to the Undertale Text Project has been passed around in other communities, and that's why I'm constantly getting so many emails for the share link. Additionally - and this is probably the most important part - it seems as though if people try to access the Text Project via reblogged Tumblr links, they will NOT be able to access the Text Project without manually asking for a sharing link, as updates to the sharing link in the main post will NOT be updated in reblogs.
To remedy this, I've decided to move the Text Project to a new gmail account - [email protected] - which will also be where I'll be hosting the upcoming Deltarune Text Project as well. If some sort of Google change happens again, accessing this post through the original post instead of reblogs will allow you to access updated links. Speaking of of Deltarune, here are my upcoming plans for the Deltarune Text Project in question:
- For the town name, I'll may just simply use "Player" as a pseudo-placeholder, unless some other name similar to "Chara" is revealed. Sort of boring, but it'll do for now. - With the ShareX, the screenshots I take are 1282x999 in size.
For those that want to help submit screenshots, here are the ShareX modifications I use: - Capture > Capture window with transparency - I do use Windows 11 too, which might create a bit of a discrepancy; the corners of Deltarune’s window are noticeably rounded
- My current screenshots order will be something along the lines of: - Chapter 2 Pacifist - Chapter 2 Neutral - Chapter 2 Neutral/Aborted Weird Route - Chapter 2 Weird Route
^The above with completely fresh save files; once Chapter 2 screencaps are finished, or at least deemed "mostly" finished, they'll be uploaded to Google Drive and the link will be passed around. --- - Chapter 1 Pacifist - Chapter 1 Neutral --- Then I'll try to run back to Chapter 2 with anything that sort of carries over from Chapter 1.
If you can, please reblog this post so that it spreads around, as I need to have my email less filled with share link requests lmao
[This post will also be added to the forefront of the Undertale Text Project’s original post as an update.]

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is the sheer amount of similarities Kris has to Chara and Frisk, and what the ultimate implications could be.
Like Chara: - They more or less have identical fashion sense: a single yellow stripe on a green shirt, and what appears to be brown lower clothing. - Kris’s hair covers their eyes similar to Chara’s as depicted in Undertale’s sepia-toned cutscenes. - They’re in the same exact spot as being the adopted child of Toriel and Asgore, which makes them the adopted sibling of Asriel by proxy (as well as having a very close bond to him from what we can see). - They’ve got a very strong knife obsession, down to internet search results of making knives out of wacky stuff. - They have an aptitude for being scary and overall mischief-making (both towards the player in Chapter 1′s ending and their backstory interactions with Noelle). - They have a notably pretty negative reaction to other humans, closing a book with “unfamiliar humans” very quickly. - They’re depicted with red eyes like Chara’s, both in the Chapter 1 ending and a “blink and you’ll miss it” shot when going into the Dark World in chapter 2. - They’ve got a very strong sweet tooth, chocolate obsession being the most notable similarity.
And wrapping it all up is a minor theme of possession and soullessness. As noted already, their prior history is also made more clear to the player as well.
And like Frisk: - They’ve got a much warmer skin tone compared to Chara’s pale. - Their Dark World clothing (and bed) are represented with Frisk’s blue and pink color scheme. - They love Toriel’s butterscotch-cinnamon pies (enough to eat an entire pie by themselves!)
Additionally, Kris’s name is one letter away from being a full anagram of Frisk’s.
What I find very interesting is the way Kris seems to reverse Frisk and Chara’s dynamic in Undertale - whereas in Undertale, Frisk was at the forefront and Chara was more in the background, the “Chara” traits of Kris seem to be the majority here, and the “Frisk” traits seem to be very minor aesthetics. And like both, Kris is represented by the Red SOUL, though debates rage on as to what exactly it means in the context of Kris, as they seem to not want anything to do with it. I really do hope that this is expanded upon in a good way as we progress through chapters, and perhaps sort of explain just why Toby is so cryptic whenever he alludes to Chara’s existence.
(Me personally, I like to think the answer might actually be sort of simple and Kris is essentially Deltarune’s “Chara” that was raised in a more favorable environment, but time well tell what the ultimate answer is)
IMO the creepiest factor from Kris is not their personality, it's the way their hometown sprite color scheme looks too much like Frisk yet their personality is a huge callback to Chara (being chocoholic and knife enthusiast?) Like what is the game trying to tell us? ik Kris is their own person but I really don't think all the similarities are just a red herring, it just have to mean something...
(sip’s beverage)
It is... curious, isn’t it. That they’re designed to look like Frisk wearing Chara’s clothes, essentially, but otherwise seem to be an “expy” of Chara first and foremost. Though...
how much do we know about what it means to be “Frisk-like,” compared to what it means to be “Chara-like”? We know about Chara from their own words, from the memory of their family members, and from the home they lived in.
Frisk was a stranger in the underground, and had no prior history. We can gather some information about their personality via the options available during play, and how they act out those options when selected... like with Kris. Except Kris, like Chara, also has the benefit of having prior history in the world that we can compare Kris-as-player-character to. Much more explicit information than we got from Chara’s family about Chara, at that.
Much like “what is the deal with Ralsei,” I think we just... don’t have enough information yet. We can theorize, but with just 2/7 chapters, we’re kind of shooting in the dark.
