it’s so funny to me how jacob’s early interactions go. Like, this man will get straight-up insulted by the girls and he’ll brush it off for the most part, but the minute *someone* (Dev) is kind to him, it’s like a fuckin’ switch gets flipped

Layla and Remi: mock jacob, indirectly/directly insult him, actively pester, infer incredibly rude things and generally take a long time to warm up to him; not friendly in the slightest at the beginning

Jacob: little to no reaction, never shows outright anger, either brushes off their hostility, actively ignores it, or just casually corrects them; is generally friendly (as friendly as jacob is) and tolerant towards the girls and of their early behavior

Dev, meanwhile: actively friendly from the beginning, never mocks jacob though occasionally pesters him, but it’s never in an unkind way; genuinely wants to know more about him and understands when to back off, believes jacob is capable of good things

Jacob: *becomes hostile* “absolutely not, you can fuck right off. I hate you, you’re insufferable, what’s your deal?? we have nothing in common and never will”
