you know what's bizarre? poppy was a real person. i feel like i'm going insane here. like in-universe poppy was a real child with her own life before she was retconned into being belinda's daughter. what the hell

[spoilers for Doctor Who ep "The Reality War"] Belinda what did they do to you 😭😭😭 If the character had wanted from the start to have a family and a kid, that ending could have be somewhat fitting, but... how did she go from "self-confident woman who won't let herself be manipulated" to "this white douchebag created a patriarchal dystopia in which I have a daughter so my only purpose in life is now to protect this child". Why. Who thought it'd be a good idea. Why. And they killed off Panjabi's Rani? After two episodes??? And Ncuti is leaving already???

I found Wish World exciting but I'm so disappointed by this finale. From what I've read around here I'm not the only one but... Ugh.

Now I did find Thirteen's appearance great, but besides that... yeah for once I think this episode might deserve a good portion of the hate, actually.

Which makes me even more upset because I don't really like criticizing things! I wanna find reasons to be happy with the shows that I love!

I guess I'll go look for fanfics or live in denial and pretend that this whole thing can somehow be fixed in the next season/ episodes (I'm not sure it can, but these are made-up characters so let me imagine they got a better made-up finale in my head until I move on to the next stage of grief or something, please)

People call moffats era misogynistic but it has NOTHING on this. Belinda had a whole set of memories and a life where she was living in a shared house working as a nurse being a woman in her thirties who didn't conform to the patriarchal ideals of motherhood. And that whole version of herself has been erased and replaced by a 'happy ending' when she had a daughter all along. But she didn't have a daughter all along??? Poppy only existed because of conrads wish. Conrad, who wished for a misogynistic, queerphobic, and ableist world. Why is this version where she is a mother the better ending? Why was Belinda and the Doctor's excitement at travelling together when Poppy was being erased framed as something tragic and wrong?? Say what you will about moffat but at least he explored the horror of unexpected motherhood in series 6. Why was Belinda nothing but happy and fulfilled at being a mother?

really, rtd? cramming the first poc doctor in between fucking tenrose doctors?? leave your peak in the past where it belongs. this is so disrespectful.

ncuti deserved so much better than this. not only was he robbed with the terrible pacing and writing from both seasons, but the length alone should be criminal. 16.5 episodes for his run, 45ish minutes each, and he wasn't even given enough grace to be in every episode. not to mention im like 95% sure he was supposed to have one more series????

his "big bads" this episode/season were killed off in a matter of anticlimactic minutes after an entire season's worth of buildup (two if you count flood). like, come on. more time was spent on his daughter-not-daughter.

speaking of poppy, my GOD retconning belinda's entire character to have had a child this entire time. i didn't think we could top how terribly martha was written/treated as a poc companion, but rtd continues to prove me wrong.

i would say i hope this show gets better, but with rtd being the showrunner, it will not be. without another hiatus, i fear that it will be run directly into the ground.

bbc, do better.

ncuti gatwa had 17 episodes as the doctor. TOTAL. including the christmas special (not including the 60th specials). 2 series and 17 episodes... and for two of those he wasn't even in most of it because they were ruby solo eps. GONE TOO FUCKING SOON

no offense, we really deeply don't need tenrose back. leave that shit where it was tied up.

both ncuti and jodi were robbed via their storyline (pacing and/or writing wise) and then absolutely destroyed by regenerating into such deeply beloved characters.

rtd, why do you feel the need to try to relive your glory days. leave them in the past. in fact, you need to retire at this point.

i honestly think that this show could deeply benefit from another hiatus, but that might just be me. give time for a new generation of writers to come into the scene with fresh ideas. i am begging you.
